Results of Passport to Sam
For those of you who have been out of town, the final Passport to Sam took place last night. This was an amazing opportunity to recruit incoming freshman to play ultimate with us for the upcoming semesters. In total, we have 105 freshman express interest in coming to practices and trying out for the team. I would like to say thank you to those who were able to help with all the Passport to Sam events: Mike Meyer, Justin Williams, and Stephen Dupree. I would especially like to thank Cody Conrad and Alex Kroeger for their continual help and attending all eight Passport to Sam events.
Passport to Sam
This is a very exciting time for Deuce as we begin with one of our largest recruiting tools, Passport to Sam. This program that takes place during freshman orientation allows us to put our organization out in the open for incoming freshman to see. Currently, Justin Williams, Cody Conrad, Alex Kroeger, and myself are the four members running the booth and inviting new freshman. If any other players would like to volunteer to help out, contact me with specific dates. I've posted all the Passports to Sam in the schedule.
We are officially 10 days out from Deathrow Showdown, Deuce's annual home tournament. We have 10 teams scheduled to compete.
Following Deathrow Showdown, Deuce will be running attending Harvest Moon in Arkansas, Houston Hodown, and LBJ Pool Play in San Marcos. Meanwhile making time for our alumni game on November 10th.
We are looking forward to a busy 5 weeks ahead of us!!
We have received our practice schedule for the first week of practice. It will be updated after that due to flag-football starting. Official practices will begin on Wednesday, September 5th at 8P.M. on IM1.
Any returning players will be asked to meet on IM 1 on Wednesday August 29th for a quick meeting and some throwing.
See you then.

Another Year In The Books
The 2011-2012 season was a time of rebuilding for Deuce Ultimate. With nearly all of the team's upperclassmen graduating leaving only junior, Justin Brodie and seniors, Michael Meyer and Ryan Bowers to lead a slew of last year's new comers as well as one of Deuce's largest freshman classes in team history.
Through the course of the season, the large freshman class was a huge help as they showed a lot of promise. Some of the young guys were able to step up into big positions such as Aaron Voisard in the handler position and Margarito Gonzales being one of the best defenders the team had, with the rest also benefiting the team in a huge way through the effort, heart, and camaraderie they brought to the group.
This year's freshman class included:
Aaron Voisard, Margarito Gonzales, Lewis Mendoza, Esau Gonzales, Drew Carson, Cody Lewis, Nathan Bohm, and Cameron Brunch.
The Times Had With Deuce Ultimate
"I think at the time we truly had a great team. We never were able to put all the pieces together every time, but we had a lot of fun doing it. The greatest things about our team was the camaraderie and cohesiveness. We hung out beyond ultimate. I.e. Hurricane Hullabaloo and the Slip N Slide Party. Great times were had by all, but not all of them can be remembered."

Deuce Ultimate will be starting up its 2011-2012 season coming this Monday, August 29th. We are leaving last season in the rear view mirror and looking ahead for a great year.
The calendar has been updated with all upcoming practice times, and tournaments that we will most likely go to. Also team pictures have finally been posted!
We are hoping for a great turn out from the freshman this year, so we can build this team fresh!
So the season is over for Deuce, a little bittersweet. We finished Conference with a very disappointing 0-4 record, but that only means we have up to go from here. We will continue scrimmages through the end of the semester. I encourage all that can to play with a club team during the summer, getting different experience and ideas is something we obviously need. As far as next semester goes we will be ready, with a new attitude and mindset.

Heart of Texas Huckfest
Deuce Ultimate just got back from a good weekend in Waco, TX. Baylor Ultimate hosted the Heart of Texas Huckfest. After a upsetting 0-4 run in our pool on Saturday we came back to a good start on Sunday winning on ULTIMATE POINT against UTA "Yucca" and defeating UofH "Skyline" with heavy winds all day. Went onto face UNT-B in the chumpionship, but after many long games in alot of wind couldn't pull out with the win. Still the team had a great experience and we want to thank Wes Nemec and Baylor Ultimate for hosting.
