J & L RUN!

Playing in the fenced fields at my friend Lauri's place.

JETHRO AND THE SQUEAKY TOY

This morning Jethro surprised me by selecting a toy from one of the many dog toy baskets, and carrying it around the house.  Ultimately, he took it into the ex-pen (where they stay when I can't watch them) and laid down, softly squeaking it periodically.  I tried to get a picture and he acted casual -  (As if to say, "I don't know how that toy got on the bed with me!" )   But in the end, I caught him in squeak mode. So cute!  (The hardest thing was keeping Loretta out of the picture.)

FUN RUN!

THE BEST DAY YET?

I think in Jethro and Loretta's opinion, today may have been their best day since arriving in the US.   My friend, Lauri (who is also my agility instructor, and the owner of LeapDog Agility) has some fenced in paddock areas I thought would be ideal for letting Jethro and Loretta have a good run.  Since Lauri had been curious about meeting Jethro and Loretta (having met Mocha previously), I asked if it would be okay to let them have a run around in the fields and Lauri said yes.   As an added bonus, I got to see Lauri's new Border Collie puppy, Wit.

Waiting at the gate

There were actually several sections of fenced pasture we were able to use, so we had a risk-free practice of waiting at the gate.  Jethro cheated once, but was a good sport about coming back and waiting to hear the release word before zooming away in the next field.

The chase is on!

Muddy Loretta

The Swamphound Gene

I'm certainly no expert with regard to Silken Windhounds, but I would venture to guess that Jethro and Loretta have the Swamphound Gene!
