Mocha's Visit 9

Tuesday December 2nd, 2008

Mocha and her new friends

Tue Dec 2nd, 2008

This wasn't the most exciting day for Mocha.  She woke me up early (8am was the longest she could possibly sleep...remember, I work until 3am), I was able to go back to bed for a little bit before taking Ethan to agility class.  Mocha did get to get out for a meet and greet with a few folks before and after class.  But mostly she had to hang out and be patient. :-)

Then I met Suzanne Deghi (Oronzova Borzoi) for lunch.  She wanted to meet Mocha and allowed me to pick her brain on training sighthounds for performance events (agility/obedience, etc).

Mocha got to meet Blixt - a 13 month old Borzoi.  Wow, he's quite a handsome dog, but now I remember why I decided against Borzoi - too big for me.  Blixt and Mocha enjoyed meeting each other, though in this picture she looks a little wary, we actually had to convince her to turn around for the picture, instead of trying to solicit attention from customers coming out of the business. :-)

Mocha showed Suzanne the new things she's learning:  sit, down, leap up into my arms on cue, etc.  She did all these things despite the distracting environment at the little strip mall and nearby traffic.   Of course she did it with the help of some motivational food treats as well. <grin>

Suzanne and I had a nice visit and chat about sighthounds, and before I knew it, it was time to scoot home and get ready for work!

We had a little bit of time once we got home to play out in the back yard.  Mocha played with her toy, and chewed on one of the bones the Labradors had been chewing on all morning.

Not a very exciting day for Mocha, but Ethan needs  his time too.  Tomorrow I think we'll all go for a long walk together.  Mocha hasn't seen Spring Lake Park yet, and it's about time!
