Meeting tomorrow (8/20)

We will meet at the donut falls trail head @ 10:00 AM.

Via Big Cottonwood Canyon Road (7000 South Wasatch Blvd) about 8.8 miles up the canyon to Cardiff Fork (Mill D South Fork). Then 1 miles up Cardiff Fork to parking area. Trail follows the creek.

August 20th meeting details!

Hello everyone!

Sorry about not having a meeting in July, I was dealing with a few family health issues, and I was just not able to find the time to plan something. However, we will be having an event in August! We will be meeting on August 20th @ 10:00 AM to Hike to Donut Falls, we have done this Hike the previous two years and have always had a great time, I hope to see you there.

Directions:

Mill D Trailhead
Drive about 9 miles up Big Cottonwood Canyon, to the signed Mill D Trailhead. If you come during the busy season you may need to park here; parking is limited at the smaller, Donut Falls Trailhead just up the road. From the Mill D Trailhead, drive or hike up the paved, gated Mill D South Fork Road, past the Jordan Pines picnic area. You'll pass summer homes. This road is usually plowed during winter months.

After about .75 miles, the Mill D South Fork Road becomes dirt road. After another 200 yards you'll find the small Donut Falls trailhead parking area. At that point you leave the dirt road and follow the obvious trail that begins by the information kiosk.

From the Donut Falls trailhead, follow the well-marked trail for about .5 miles to Donut Falls. The trail follows an old four-wheel-drive route for a time. Return the way you came.

This is a easy little hike, I would still suggest you bring water and some snacks though. If anyone would like, we can meet at the park and ride lot at 9:15 at the base of the canyon. June 18th Meeting details!

Sorry about the short notice, but here are the details for the upcoming meeting! We are going to be having a summer BBQ at my house, we will also be showing the pictures from the Red Butte Activity, and Alex Gallivan will be going over some editing tips for us. I am hoping to have a screen set up, so if you would like to bring some pictures to share, we will show them :) The details are as follows:

I'll provide drinks, plates, etc
You may want to bring a chair of somesort, I have a few, but better safe than sorry!

We will also have some lights set up, so there is a chance you can play around with some off camera lighting. If you haven't been to club before, or you haven't been in a while we would love for you to join us! If you have any questions please call me (801-520-7731).

Saltair Marina/ Blackrock (I-80 West take exit 10

Lets meet at Saltair at 6pm then carpool to Blackrock (bumpy road) for the event. Post here if anyone wants to carpool. We will be focusing on sunset photography and sunset portrait photography. We will have several lighting setups including off camera speed lights and location studio lighting. Bring your own camera gear and willingness to meet new people and have fun. We will also need people willing to model. Everyone is welcome to our free club

Hey everyone, I'm pretty new but have been doing digital amateur photos since around 2000 or 2001. My first camera was just a $99 special I got off Ebay, no name brand. I now own a Nikon S220, and aside from the bad reviews it gets online, it actually works pretty well, You just have to know the settings. I've uploaded some recent photos I've taken to this site in my account. I took some great ones at the Salt Air Place pretty recently. I'm passionate about photography, that's for sure. I take my camera everywhere, and have 4 batteries total and a 4GB memory card. I also have a nice protective case that holds it all that is very small. I'd love to do this professionally but realize that takes time. Even if I ended up in another field, I'd do this tons as a hobby. Wow that was long!

SLC Photo Club ~ Photo Walk ~ Saturday August 1st @ 8pm

This is a photo club reminder for our photo walk tomorrow (Saturday, August 1st) at 8pm. We planned it a little later in the evening for the best light and cooler weather. We will be meeting in front of the Rio Grande building down town on 270 S Rio Grande St. Todd and I will be there around 6:30 pm for dinner at the Rio Grande Cafe... feel free to join us!
