Ice cream recipe
Ingredients
½ cup milk
¼ cup half and half
1 tablespoon sugar
¼ teaspoon vanilla extract
2 sandwich size Ziploc bags
1 gallon size Ziploc bag
2 cups of ice
1 tablespoon salt
- Fill one sandwich sized bag with ½ cup of milk, ¼ cup of half and half, 1 tablespoon of sugar, and ¼ teaspoon of vanilla extract. Seal the bag, and try to remove as much air as possible. Place that bag inside the second sandwich bag and seal that bag as well. (Miss Pam and I did this the night before and placed the mix in the refrigerator.)
- Fill the gallon size with 2 cups of ice and I tablespoon of salt. Place the smaller bag with the mix into the larger bag, and seal it firmly, getting as much air out as you can. We had to double bag some of the gallon size, which still worked fine.
- Then shake the bags silly. We listened to music (about 6 songs) danced, and shook our bags. We shook them for about 5 to 10 minutes, and Miss Pam and I helped some of them. Their hands (and ours) got a little cold. The mix should harden as you shake.
- If you want harder ice cream, place the bag of soft ice cream into the freezer for 1-2 hours and then enjoy. Also, you can add some of your favorite treats to your ice cream. Stir in chocolate chips or a few drops of peppermint for mint ice cream. Be creative and let your child try to make different flavors.

Wednesday
We worked on review the letters l,o,and g today. We seem to have trouble remembering words that start with those letters. We also talked about the letter h and made handprints as well as wrote the letter H h. We are still working on rhyming words and compound words. With our compound words we are practicing taking them apart to see what two words make the new word.
Tuesday
Today, the three year old class had to practice our school routine. Our one field trip day has really thrown us off. While we were here, however, we did review our letters A, B, and C and learned about number 1. With Miss Pam, the students made a picture of a cow, like the ones that we saw at the farm. Be sure to check your child's folder, we sent home a lot of things today!
Monday
Both four year old classes started learning the letter H h today. Don't forget to send in your letter H picture for your child's book. Allow your child to cut the picture out of the catalog or book so they can practice cutting as well. We also wrote the numbers one and two today, as well as counted. We continue to practice rhyming words, and have started to work with compound words. We say the word and then try to figure out what two words make the compound word. Today, we practiced reading the word log and worked on blending sounds together with the word it.
Friday
I hope both four year old classes had a great time at the farm even though, we did get wet. The rain didn't decide to stop until it was almost time to go home. We did however, get to go on the hay ride, see the garden, go through part of the corn maze, pick pumpkins, and see the animals. In the barn today was a new calf, only two days old. We were not allowed to get very close to it, but check out our picture page. We did get a picture of the baby and mother. Have a great weekend, and we will see you on Monday!
Thursday
The three year old class had a great time at Sweetapple Farm. I am not sure what our favorite activity was, because we all liked feeding the goats and the hay ride. I added pictures that I took from our day to the picture page, so be sure to take a look. Have a great weekend, and I will see you all on Tuesday!
Wednesday
Today was such a great day! We read our first word today, which was log! We continued to work with rhyming words and the letter g. With Miss Pam today, we made sheep with our hands and cotton balls. Continue working with your child with holding a pencil and writing their letters. Remember that our trip to Sweet Apple Farm is Friday!
Tuesday
Please remember that this is our only day in our classroom this week. We did work with the letter C and ate candy corn. We also talked more about farms and completed a sheep by using our hand and cotten balls. We are so excited about the farm! Please check your child's folder for October's snack calendar and the complete student list. The list contains every child's name, parent name, phone number, birthdate and allergies. Check over the list to make sure all information is correct. If something needs changed, please let me know. If the list is fine, keep it at home for your information. Thanks!
Monday
Both four year old classes started learning the letter G g today. We also talked about the farm and made "Happy" cows with Miss Pam. With our writing skills, please practice with your child how to hold a pencil. The best way for the them to practice is by watching and doing it with you! We also continued with rhyming words by listening and reciting some well known nursery rhymes.

Thanks again for sending the bears to school. We listened to a story about a bear while holding our bears. We also completed Bubble Painting and played with Letter B objects. We also learned more about the farm and sang farm songs. Next week, we will work with the letter C, but only on Tuesday. Remember that Thursday is our Sweet Apple Farm trip.
Wednesday
Today both four year old classes worked with the letter O and rhyming words. With the letter O, we practiced saying letter O words, listened to a story about and octopus, made an ostrich and wrote the letter O. For our rhyming words, we sang a song like this " Hat and cat are rhyming words, rhyming words. Hat and cat are rhyming words. They sound sort of alike." You can use any rhyming words and just say this with your child. We also talked more about the farm, and the animals can find there.
Tuesday
Thanks so much for sending the bears to school. We would love to have our bears back on Thursday. We worked hard with with the letter B today and learned more about the farm. We really had a good day.
