San Diego's Gay Pride Parade is a huge event, with about 150,000 attendees. A great opportunity to spread the word about spay/neuter! This year's motto was "Live Love Be" which we extended to "Live Love Be... Litter Free."

It's raining cats and dogs in San Diego, so we brought umbrellas for protection! Note the doggie on the umbrella.

Here's what happens when it rains cats and dogs: many of them lose their homes & families because there are just too many pets to go around. This cage full of critters represents our animal shelters which are full to the brim. Each pet's story is told on a card: I got too big... scratched the couch... chewed up a pair of expensive shoes... had too many kittens. SNAP works every day to prevent even more unwanted litters from being born.

Several adoptable dogs walked with us in the parade. Here's Jiggy making friends with a spectator. Jiggy is a real charmer, mellow and extremely well-behaved. He's still waiting for a home... contact dorellp@cox.net if you'd like to meet him.

7-08 Honoring Dr Milton Gee
Dr Milton Gee is one of the vets providing veterinarian-subsidized spay/neuter surgeries to low-income families in North County. 6-28-08 4th of July Parade in Oceanside
This year's theme for the 4th of July Parade through downtown Oceanside was "Freedom Days." SNAP wasn't about to miss out on this great opportunity to show off the Neuter Scooter. Our fabulous volunteers did a great job decorating the bus in red, white, and blue.

It's kitten season! Every spring, summer, and fall countless unwanted litters are born. Kitten season is a sad time as animal shelters are flooded with kittens and cats that have nowhere to go.

During one of our classroom visits the kids learned that spay & neuter reduces unwanted litters and thus, saves the lives of cats and kittens everywhere.

Thanks Kathy & Molly for coming to the Chula Vista Cinco de Mayo event! We handed out 500 flyers, gave referrals, and raised funds for SNAP.

SNAP hosted an adoption event, taking dogs from Chula Vista Animal Care Facility to Pet Nutrition Center in Encinitas. That handsome pooch in yellow was one of our adoptables.

SNAP's classroom visits in March focused on the message that Easter and Bunnies Don't Mix.

Every year many "Easter Bunnies" are abandoned once families realize that bunnies are real live animals and need to be cared for just like a dog or cat.

SNAP brought real rabbits into classrooms to teach kids how to take care of a real-life bunny. Bunnies can be litterbox trained, they need fresh hay and water every day, and of course they need toys to play with. Our visiting bunny enjoyed the kids' attention!

SNAP visits La Jolla Country Day School students for their Community Day in March. Our canine ambassadors were a hit with the kids.

Every February we celebrate Spay Day. SNAP kicked off Spay Day USA 2008 with a flurry of classroom visits in January and February. Students made friends with our animal ambassadors.
