Snow's Light - snowslight

I found the place on the 15th April ... we viewed it on the 19th April and put a holding contract on the next day.

This place will be my sanity... my bolt hole from the world. When "perfect" arrived... I couldnt believe it. The sign......... I turned the corner of the Inner garden... and there was the Lighthouse !!!!!

I MISS the sea desperately... and I collect lighthouses........

2 acres...ALL fenced !! (boys are in heaven !... just going to have to teach them horse manners as the ONLY neighbour has a horse.......and that is a 5 acre plot) no one else is close ! Next nearest is on a 13 acre plot the other side.

An "inner and an outer" garden as I am calling it... Inner inside the chain link... Outer is the perimeter Hog wire very well put up.

Its right on the edge if 10,000 acres of the Lexington Wildlife Management area..... In theory... it can never be built on !!!!

It so quiet out there ! We will be able to see STARS ! Will finally be able to use the telescope again.

Has storm shelter ( that the little red and white house with the door on the floor.. to the storm cellar ... workshops... 2-3 other outbuildings.

The interior .... he loved to improve things around him.....the woodwork... cabinets (kitchen and elsewhere).. hardwood surround windows.... floors... all his work... just amazing. Yeah.. they liked the colour red !! That can be sorted !!!!!

Garden is full of Honeysuckles and has spring bulbs.. trees... shrubs... and there are some fruit trees and Black Jack Oaks are all around . The Garden needs some pruning and care... ... I will have work all Winter and LOVE it !! The soil is almost neat sand....think drought woodland floor when I say "garden" !

I FINALLY have a garden back.

This place is perfect.. and there truely arent that many I would say that about. Only one thing missing there... a stream/pond in the garden !!! I can build one... have done this before in England ... probably wont go for a pond as there it is so hot here in Summer and there is too much evapouration . Right now thinking a bubble/pebble pool !!

One step at a time ......... we will be broke!

Its my one shot here at some peace. I love Jay dearly... going home is a long way off less I win the Lottery..

That house was made for you and Jay and the boys. I can hear it in your voice and read it in your writings. It will be fun to follow you as you put your own personal touches to it over the years . Pam, what a beautiful home and what a place of peace and joy. You will enjoy making your garden grow, even if you have to water your sand first. But if anyone will be able to make a garden bloom from sand, it is you. The boys will love to romp in the fresh air. Sadly,,, that is it... they have done all they will. They tree ... they did a great job...... the rest.... is the back Outer is the heartbreaker.They were able to fill in alot.. and smooth out a bit. I will be continuing that... The kitchen garden is fine...pretty much how I expected it to be.... I will start work on that... this year will be for reconstruction not planting... The Dell area... I have back filled alot of the gouges... and I think they will be ok now with some tweeking. The back Outer... that is the bit that upsets me.... I simply cannot done much more than I have now... it needs smoothing more... and grass to grow back. I WILL make it right... but it will take time.

Tree Removal

The pictures are heartbreaking Pam. I can see why you would be so upset.... your beautiful yard. I know the tree had to come down and it looks like they did a great job on that. It's a real shame what happened to your yard in the process. I sure hope they are planning on helping to get it back in some order. Sad

I understand the "missing" . I have waited so long to get a garden again.... Jay does nothing here.. it was the deal for me to have this place.. and bit by bit I am getting this place back. I am 57.. realistically my mobility and arthritis are creaking.. but my ONLY "off" switch is being out there. It is my sanity. I NEED to be out there....

Spring Flowers

Your Spring flowers are beautiful Pam. Awesome pictures to show them off! wish I could live in your yard. Well, maybe in a tent for a week would do...... love a peaceful place with critters and birds to sit and watch for hours on end!

I spent a 7 hour day cleaning out the bosses front 2 flower beds one day last week. Hung out 6 hummingbird feeders. Listened to the baby birds chirping in there homes. It's the only time she leaves me alone LOL. I still really miss all my flowers, trees, swing and my Koi Pond I had in MI.

Found nirvana.

Love everything about your place. The lighthouse is a beautiful touch, the red trim around the roof,,,justamazing (seriously) and the deck...WOW PAM AND JAY.

Deer ???? Seems almost tame and a horse, lucky you.
