Meet Skye. This poor boy was found dragging himself down the road by Animal Control in Elizabeth City, NC. He has large bloody sores on both his back legs from dragging them over the hard ground. Held as a stray and never claimed, this guy had little chance at the overcrowded shelter. Lucky for him, his happy disposition touched a shelter worker who set her mind to finding a rescue to take him. And that is how DRNA got involved.
Skye is a young dog (2 to 4 yrs old) but has been down in back for some time, so is not a surgery candidate. What happen we don’t know …was he hit by a car, kicked, or abused in some way? He is young, healthy and trim so it had to be some sort of trauma for him to be injured like this. We will never know, but we now want to give him the mobility that he so desires.
So we are looking for donations to help pay for his custom made cart and therapy to give him the best chance of a better life. He does have some pain sensation in one rear leg and can wag his tail… both good signs. And who know with therapy he may someday be able to walk on his own. So if you can spare a few dollars to help Skye on his road to recovery, DRNA and he would be very grateful. You can mail checks made out to DRNA with Skye in the memo line to: Judy Wright 1125 Buckingham, Norfolk, VA 23508
