I am not a dog breeder or professional trainer, I just love to live with dogs and am especially fond of Border Collies, Boston Terriers, and German Shepard Dogs. I train in agility with my younger dogs... and find it a satisfying hobby for me. I hope you enjoy these views of my dogs.

Where did summer go?

Catching Up

Well I have not done a great job keeping up with our dog stories. Mav is doing well in class and we are learning alot about our agility teamwork. Dodge has also had a session of agility and he is such a character... every time I count him out he surprises me!! Unfortunately, we have to move our class schedule so Dodgey may have to home school for a session or two. Rune will be starting a private class on manners and agility ground work. He loves to work!! Spring is here and nearly summer soon. Where is the time going?

2010 Already

We had a quiet but pleasant holiday season... Rune turned 1 year old on Christmas Day but no snow for him to play in; the dogs got lots of fun toys and chew bones and a few have survived in to January! Will look forward for Maverick and Dodge to get back to agility class once we dry out a little from the heavy January rain storms.

Post Thanksgiving Hike at Santa Ysabel Open Space Preserve

We had the Friday after Thanksgiving off and since it was the last day of nice weather for the weekend we decided on an outdoor adventure. We took two of the dogs hiking at the new Santa Ysabel Open Space Preserve (one of the few areas that allows dogs on the trails in our area). We didnt know what to expect but it was a mild sunny day and it is located in one of the my favorite valleys... the classic California live oaks and cattle dotting amber fields and rolling hills. We only met three other people on the trail. We were warned there were open range cattle and the dogs certainly enjoyed checking out ALL the cow pies but they never saw one face to face. We entered at the Santa Ysabel trail head and were surprised by the long, steep ascent but once we hit the top of the ridge we had open meadows alternating with oak forest. Very nice. Next time we will try the Julian Trailhead and see if it is a more gentle trail. The dogs and I were tuckered when we got home. Happy Birthday Major Pete - 8yrs young

Pete is the first Boston Terrier I ever owned and he made me love the breed. Here he is looking alittle gray around the whiskers as he turned 8 on Thanksgiving. He got lots of turkey and snuggles with the grand daughters for his bday.

Entering the Autumn Days

Not much news... Maverick and I are training at Martini's Ranch which has been a great experience for us. Puppy Rune is now a LARGE puppy... will be working privates with Bree for awhile. Working on his ability to focus; deminish some of the reactiveness. Dodge needs a class too.

Where did September go?

It alternated between mild and monster hot this month. Maverick and I started agility classes again, and went to one AKC trial. Looking for a class for Dodge.

End of Summer

The last day of August and we are having high heat. Mav and I competed twice this month... one each AKC and CPE. See Mavericks web page for more info. All the dogs are doing well despite the temperatures. We are taking most of Sept off from trialing, then the season starts all over again here! Mav and I will move to Open and L3 in CPE... a whole new ball game for me. Can I speed up enough???
