Spring Fundraiser – As the picture shows above, we will be starting our Spring Fundraiser THIS WEEK!!! We had major success with this fundraiser last year selling nearly $4000 worth of these AMAZING bags and earning almost $1600 towards club fees for our girls!! 40% goes directly to the girls!! This year has the potential to do the same or EVEN BETTER since Mixed Bag Designs has added all kinds of new stuff to their inventory….my favorite is the NEW Insulated Cold Cup!! Although fundraisers are not mandatory, every girl who participates will receive a sample bag to show to potential customers. Each girl must sell at least two (2) items to keep their sample bag (this helps to defer the cost of ordering the samples). Happy fundraising!! You will receive your materials at practice beginning on Monday, Jan. 30. The fundraiser is scheduled to end February 15th. By the way….teachers LOVE this stuff!! Don't forget to ask them too!!

18s Las Vegas Classic - Very disappointed, but we will NOT be attending this year. Unfortunately, this is your director's fault...I told the team at practice this week that we needed to be registered by January 30th. I misread….I needed to have my rosters in by the 30th, but we were supposed to be PAID by the 16th. Nonetheless, our registration was dropped. There were still other details that had me worried about this tourney, specifically Coach J & the two girls not on the event database and only 7 girls able to attend the first day of the tourney. I’m not sure that this would have been the best possible scenario for performance at such a major event.
We still have the option of attending the June Summer Soiree in Anaheim, which many of you seemed very interested in!! And, there are a few more options for pick-up tourneys (even travel tourneys) in which I will keep you informed.
I am so sorry ladies. Parents, my apologies to you to as well as I know you were all working on clearing your schedules and ready to make accommodations for this trip. Thank you for being patient with this process. Sincerely, Coach Stone

18s Las Vegas Classic - It has come to my attention that several girls may not be able to attend this event. This is a costly event ($825 for the team to participate which will be divided and added to your current account, not to exceed $50 per player). I am not willing to enter a team with less than 8 girls.....PLEASE let Jerome know ASAP if you can attend this event. I must complete our registration by January 30th. If we decide NOT to attend the Las Vegas Classic, I would be happy to register the 18s to attend the Starlings Grass Tourney in May (San Diego) with NO additional charge to parents. Or, for about the same money as the Las Vegas Tourney, I could send the team to the Summer Soiree in June (the week after Nationals in San Diego).

18s Las Vegas Classic - Yes! We are planning to attend this event on February 18th - 20th. HOWEVER, we have hit a registration roadblock!! Before we can register for this National Tournament, USAV (USA Volleyball Association) must provide all SCVA registered club members and coaches to the tounament directors. USAV did so last week, BUT Coach Jerome and the two new additions to our 18s were omitted from the list of active members! I can only register active members! I am currently working with SCVA to resolve this matter. I think it would be awful for the 18s to attend this tournament without their coach! It may be necessary, though, to do just that. If SCVA cannot fix our member list within the next week, we will register the girls on the active list for the tournament with Coach Tina and myself (Coach Shawna) as the head coaches. Although this will be great fun for us, I am most interested in making sure that our girls have a cohesive, competivie experience!
With that in mind, hold out one more week on making arrangements for accommodations. Also, if you have questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me by phone or email. Thanks, Coach Stone

CMS administration has asked that NO cars be parked on campus (inside the gates) during our practices...this INCLUDES coaches!! Thank you for your cooperation.

Parents...please make sure that you are picking up your girls promptly after practices. Although it may only happen "once or twice" per girl and sometimes it's unavoidable, this adds up quickly when you consider we have 54 girls. The coaches truly appreciate your efforts!!
ASC CHANGES
American Sports Centers Expansion & Remodeling
November 2011
ASC has just finished an expansion and remodeling project that promises to make a visit to ASC a more enjoyable and comfortable experience. Major changes include an addition of courts, remodeling of food areas, and several architectural changes to make the temperature inside the facility more comfortable.
ASC’s new lease on the entire 242,000 foot building allows the facility to increase in size from the previous volleyball configuration of 22 courts to 34 courts and from 16 to 25 basketball courts. All 34vb/25bb courts are now wood.
The biggest part of the expansion effort focused on an expansion and remodeling of the former cafeteria in the rear of the building and the smoothie bar in the front.
The new 10,000 square foot Sidelines Grill located in the rear of the facility now features freshly grilled sandwiches, salads, pizza, rice bowls, fruit bowls, French fries, chicken wings, chicken tenders and more of your favorites.
The front smoothie bar, now Sidelines Cafe will be upgraded to a 4,000 square foot delicatessen featuring specialty coffees, smoothies and a complete food menu. Seating for 100 is available in the café.
In addition, a seating pavilion with large tables and 700 chairs will replace the former F row of courts. As a result, camping in the facility will not be permitted.
Within the court area, ASC has installed over 20 large circulation fans above the courts and seating areas. In addition, eight ten foot tall floor level vents have been installed along the back wall making a huge difference in the overall temperature of the building and the back courts in particular.
Outside ASC, the current practice of allowing pop-up tent encampments in the front parking area will be eliminated. New seating in the two food areas in combination with the new pavilion seating area will provide ample gathering space between games.
ASC’s new surface parking area is also scheduled for completion by the end of December 2011. This 800 plus space lot will replace the 500 space roof top parking. Access to the new parking will be on Claudia Way, the same street used to access the roof top parking. The roof top parking will remain available to ASC guests until the opening of the new lot. A $5 parking charge for the rooftop is necessary as this area is no longer part of our lease.
The following policies remain in effect…
Admission will remain the same at $3 for adults.
No outside food or coolers allowed inside the facility.
