Quarter 4: STEM Class
Rain Barrel is being installed. Butterfly gardens are under construction! Our perennial garden is planted. We have veges and herbs growing in our garden beds and seeds planted and growing in our greenhouses! Students are designing benches, web sites, and learning about various STEM careers! So much going on and not much time to go! Stay tuned!
Ending the 3rd Quarter
Well, it was winter... and a rainy one at that! Due to the potential of cold and a lot of rain we turned our focus to alternative energy and eco-friendly living this quarter! We learned about energy conservation at home and school, what biomass is, wind power, solar power, and solar and electric (hybrid) cars. We learned about how and where we can use this power and how we are turning more and more towards alternative energy as we are in a word that is reliant on other countries for our current energy supply. However, we also learned we really have all we need right here in this country. --- We built wind turbines and solar racers. --- We explored online and did quite a bit of reading and class discussion about these topics. We are all a little wiser about energy today that we were 3 months ago! .... Now on to 4th quarter and back to the garden!
Siemens Action Project: The 3 Tree Huggers
The Siemens company is challenging kids to do an environmental project. Our team did a recycling project. We are putting recycle bins around our school and they are going to put paper products in them. C.B.I. students are going to go around once a week and pick them up and recycle them. We are going to do our best and try to make our school and all Goshen Local Schools go green.
