This event began 7 years ago as both a fun way to conclude the school year and a way to generate funds to help families that struggle to afford Catholic Education. That need has never been greater as many of our school families are dealing with the strains of the financial downturn.
The tournament started at East Moreland in 2005; two events were staged at Chehalem Glen; one year we were at Forest Hills before moving the tournament to Langdon Farms in 2009 where it is again this year.
The Joe Weston Foundation has been and will continue to be a generous supporter of our efforts through their matching fund program. All proceeds will be awarded to those families that applied for the Archdiocesan FACTS tuition assistance program ensuring the integrity of distribution. A portion will be set aside for future need in the event a family encounters hardship in the coming year.
The folks at Langdon Farms were fantastic last year and their facility is rated as the top facility for hosting tournaments in the state. If you have played a tournament there, you know why. If you haven't had the opportunity to play with us in this tournament, please join us - We would love to have you!
Thank you for the consideration of your support. See you on the course!
A huge thank you to all our sponsors, donors, and those that volunteered to bring this tournament about. Please patronize their places of business and let them know you saw their name in our tournament brochure or here at the website!
Finally, thanks to each of our golfers for your participation. We had the highest number of golfers we've ever had since the St. Francis Golf Classic began years ago. Some of you are accomplished golfers and some are recreational; what is nice about best-ball format is that everyone gets a chance to contribute to the teams chances. And this is akin to what the tournament means to our school, each of you are contributing to Catholic Education and to the future of the Church (no matter how you slice it).
