Welcome to the Superior Gymnastics Booster Club Website! Yes

To: SGBC members
Subject: Superior Gymnastics Booster Club changes

The Superior Gymnastics Booster Club was created when Krystal opened her
doors as a new gym with the intent to provide teambuilding activities for
the gymnasts and fundraising opportunities for the parents to offset the
costs of the sport of gymnastics. We evolved into a tax exempt organization
with the mission of creating an environment that allows each gymnast to
achieve their individual potential and promoting the sport of gymnastics.
Over the past year or so, questions and concerns surrounding how we
accomplish our mission have surfaced and it is no longer clear how our
organization can best serve the gym, the gymnasts, and our community.
Therefore, the SGBC will go "on hold" for next year to allow time for the
parents to assess what structure and format a parent group could take while
supporting the gym.

As per our normal year end closure activities, meet fees reimbursements
will be made to all members to take their meet fee balances to zero. As
part of this closeout, all member fundraising allocation credits will be
applied to their meet fees, and any overpayments will be reimbursed through
the year end closure transactions. This close-out will result in all
members balances being applied to gymnastics related activities with the
result of a zero balance.

There will be no receipt of money by the SGBC or activity initiated / owned
by the SGBC for next year. All activities will now be driven by Krystal in
support of her gymnastics program. Krystal will continue to seek and use
parent support for these activities. Funds currently held by the SGBC will
be available for use on activities in line with our mission statement, i.e.
Scholarships, team building activities, etc.

Because of the benefits provided by being tax exempt (discounts on group
activities, donations for activities or fundraising, etc) we feel it is
important to maintain the tax exempt status should the parents decide this
organization is a good way to provide support for the gymnasts. Therefore,
the following minimum requirements will be met to maintain tax exempt
status:

1. Review of By-laws - recommendation to change the minimum officers to
three instead of eight (number of officers can be greater than three, this
is just indicating the minimum number).
Offices recommended are: President, Vice President, and Treasurer. The
roles for President and Vice President would be minimal - mainly to review
the financial activity and approve use of funds. Any parent interested in
these two offices please contact Laura Grantham. Elections will be held
prior
to the end of the fiscal year for SGBC (May 31)
2. Vote by members on the offices of President and Vice President. The
Treasurer office is appointed by the President, and Laura Grantham would
like to continue in the role of Treasurer.
3. Hold at least six SGBC board meetings during the year of 2011-2012
(mainly to review financial activity).
4. File tax forms at year end.

As for the future, we leave it open to the parents to monitor support
provided to the gym and its activities. If the parents feel the SGBC can be
of service and there are leaders among the parents who would like to work
towards this goal, then the board will be open to working with you on what
shape and format would be of most service. First and foremost the
organization needs to be what the parents want, and we hope this "break"
will provide the breathing room needed to start afresh when the time is
right.

Regards,

Galen Smith
