I seem to always be busy and unable to update this site, but its a walk in the park to September when the new addition will be joining us.
So little Tallant, as sex is unknown at this time, should make a grand entrance on or around September 15th 2009. I am due on September 23rd but will be having a C Section early.
I am excited about this little person, we have already decided on a boys name. well atleast we have narrowed it down to 2, Knox Cooper or Knox Gentry. When we were pregnant with maddox we almost changed it to Knox. So we knew right away it would be Knox.
A girls name on the other hand is so hard. I like Tatum, Emory, Aubrey and Jocelyn. Jason likes Gentry and Jocelyn, and a few others I have failed to remember. Sorry J!
The big boys are all excited, Tyler doesnt seem to care if its a boy or girl. Hayden wants a girl and Maddox only wants a boy, he also thinks baby jesus or mickey mouse are great names. ( I promise I did not make that up)
We have friends that are excited, which helps knowing what a stressful time it is, We cant wait to meet baby. But on the other hand we need the time to get ready.
So say a lil prayer, asking to keep us all safe and happy, and to the economy so me and J can keep our wonderful insurance.
Ill update soon with the sex of the baby, around April 20th 2009
ITS A GIRL< ITS A GIRL< ITS A GIRL < ITS A GIRL< ITS A GIRL< ITS A GIRL< ITS A GIRL
We had a beautiful winter wonderland delivered to us on Sunday. ( March 1st 2009) It started shortly after church and pretty much snowed off and on the entire day. Some have said we ended up with 7 inches, others have said Hickory in some places got up to 9 inches due to the wind drifts.
So here is the drill, I am tired of paying interest to these Credit Card Companies/ Banks. By the end of 2009 we should not owe any credit cards, and one of our cars should be paid off with a chunk of the other one gone.
Pastor Charles has been preaching a money series which ties all of the "quilty pleasures" about money together. And has been speaking and knocking down the myths about money and borrowing. He has pointed out in the bible where God never intended for us to be slaves to anyone, especially Consumer Debt companies.
I purchased Dave Ramsey's Total Money Makeover and me and Jason are both on board together.
We are currently on Baby Step One, Save 1,000 cash as fast as you can. Put it in a safe place that isnt so accesible. This is an emergency fund, for emergencies only!!!! As Pastor Charles has said " A 75% off sign at the mall doesnt count as an emergency!"
I actually have someone to help me with the budget, a friend who is very money suave , and who actually has budgeted her family for years. I could possibly do it on my own, but I love having a friend who is willing to be my accountibility partner too.
If you want to be shocked read or listen to Dave Ramsey, he teaches on biblical principles, but just states the facts of how we as americans blow our entire income.
The 2 statements that have floored me is the following........
If the average family makes 40,000 a year, than over their lifetime they would have brought home 2,000,000. Wouldnt that make us all millionaires, and most of us retire with nothing.
For one example let me just say that if you purchase a new 28,000 car, in the first four years it is expected that the car will lose 17,000 in value. So in other words in the first 4 years that you have the car, you could instead throw 100.00 out the window every Monday. And it will equal the same loss. This shocked me.
So keep us in your thoughts and prayers, and dont ask us to go anywhere ( unless its free) ! We are in a TOTAL MONEY MAKEOVER, and I am not sure that I have ever been so determined. It helps that my husband is in. Ill keep my blog posted.
As I sit here thinking about all the things on my to do list I am shocked that none of it is really shopping. The recent days have been busy. And I am aware that everyone feels overwhelmed, just thought I'd share.
This Holiday season we have been blessed with new friends and of course that is new plans. Last weekend we were invited to play the Wii @ Holly and Joey's.
The fun that comes with 2 controllers, a balance board and 4 adults is hilarious. Kylin and Maddox played babies, poor Layton was bored to tears. All he wanted to do was play Mario Kart ( which he killed me in) and the adults were just having too much fun.
Jason beat Joey by a small number while bowling, but really we just played like school kids.
Then this weekend was even busier, Friday I had to take a day off of work to take Maddox to Mission. ( 3 month f/u) Just to check on the neverending cough. Dr Bacot actually decided, since none of the inhalers were doing the trick, to go ahead and rule out cystic fibrosis. This he felt would be normal and it was but it cleared our path to see what else is going on. So he now is on a nasal steroid spray, 4 times a day. If this doesnt help in the next few weeks then we are going to an ENT @ Mission. Dr Bacot feels that the next thing to look at is the anatomy in the throat, that Xray cant even pick up. He says there is a scope that can eyeball the throat completely. So we'll see.
Once we arrived back from Asheville it was time to head to The Billy Graham Library in Charlotte. The whole family went and joined our small group and their families. We arrived 20 minutes later than the Wayne's but 45 minutes earlier than the rest of the gang. So we were all staggered while the tour was going on. This is a beautiful place, live nativity scene, Beautiful christmas lights, horse drawn carriages, branded scripture on the beams of the Barn, and you follow Billy Grahams life as he decided to walk with God. It is awesome that one man could do so much.
The small group was supposed to go eat afterwards, but once we forced Kylin and Maddox to be quiet for a solid hour and a half, we gave in. We left and found the closest Applebee's and ate like pigs. I hated that we missed the entire group dinner, but we now know that we will not take kids back next time. We arrived home around 12am and slept like babies.
Then it was up again...... Hayden had a Hockey Game ( He ended up losing but did score 2 goals) and Maddox and myself were on our way to see Polar Express at Christ Church Statesville, Holly and Kylin rose with us.
This was planned really well. When you arrived there was a breakfast of your choice. Our church planned this so well. See Picture above.
See Attatchment Below
So here is how the story goes..........At around 9:15 pm on Saturday November 1st 2008, I heard a loud sound on the porch. It was our neighbor/friend Erica Shook, Hayden and Tyler had been down at her house playing hockey pretty much all day.
Erica was hysterical and all we could really understand is that Hayden had been hurt. So we throw on coats and grab Maddox.
By the time we get there, Hayden had was atleast awake. Hayden and Erica were playing in the garage when Erica was attempting a back hand shot. She connected and the puck went straight for Haydens forehead. The puck hit Hayden and Hayden fell face first to the floor. Of course due to Haydens dramatic fits that he acts out everyday, Erica thought he was joking. After a few threats and a few minutes passing, Tyler and Erica flipped him over only to find that she had knocked him out cold.
Erica hollared at her mom, and then skated to get us. Vickie tried to talk to Hayden but he couldnt even form his words.
Of course there are no helmets in their "street hockey neighborhood league" so thats how the damage was done. But from now on me and Vickie agreed that helmets are a must.
Hockey season doesnt officially start until next week, but we already got our first injury out of the way.
Later that night when Erica realized that Hayden was gonna live, she did say " Can Hayden believe how high I got my Back Hand? " And that sums up our Erica, very caring but sure to remember the fact that it was a awesome shot.
At church yesterday we were given a challenge by Pastor Charles. We are currently in the middle of our What Men Really Want series. This weeks discussion was on the challenge to draw closer with your walk with God, and to spend 15-20 minutes with your bible and devotions. We were asked to walk up front and get a ring if we wanted to accept the challenge, this ring would work as a reminder for each of us.
So pray for me and J to serve as an accountability partner to one another and to remind each other to do our daily devotions.
Also keep our Rally night service and our 2008 Small Group kick off in your prayers, (Jason and I our joining a fireproof one) lots of exciting things happening.
And it seems that daily each of us our confronted with challenges, especially faith based ones.
Special note to my husband -Put your hand high and chin up J, Its not in your hands. Your faith is strong and your doing your work as a Christian. You cant go wrong. Read Proverbs, its all there.
The Story I would like to tell starts with me buying a birthday present for Alyssa
(7-26-2007). Again it was for her last year birthday.
See definition below:
Procrastination is a type of behavior which is characterized by deferment of actions or tasks to a later time. Psychologists often cite procrastination as a mechanism for coping with the anxiety associated with starting or completing any task or decicion.
I found Alyssa a nice Victoria Secret gift bag for her bday, she was pregnant and had made the comment that " she just felt like a mom" and I thought this will make her feel "girly".
So I packed it up and put a card in it, with Maddox's 18 month pictures from Kid Shots. But the Victoria Secret shirt would not fit in the box. So I propped it up and told myself I will look for a bigger box.
The package set around the house for a while, then before I knew it, Alyssa's baby ( jude ) was born. ( Oct 2007) So I thought well I'll make Jude and Sebastion something and mail it all together. So I went to Michael's bought a wooden J and a wooden S, painted them and decorated them. They turned out beautiful. I let them dry and set them back in the box.
So around January 2008 ( box still packed, but unable to close) I bought something off Ebay. Wouldnt you know it, when my package arrived, I now had the perfect size box. I went to packing, first Victoria Secret gift bag, then the boys letters, and thought I need to send something else?!? So back into the "gift closet" it went.
Around May 2008 ( box still in the same spot) I heard that The Disney Store was closing. So I strolled thru the store, and picked up a cup for Sebas, and a bowl and plate for Juda-bug.
Came home and yes, you quessed it. Put it in the box.
This Saturday (7-26-2008) Alyssa and I will share our birthdays, my 31st and her 23rd.
The present that I bought her is still sitting in the shipping box along with items that I have purchased during the past year. Jude ( the newborn I made the letter for) is now almost 10 months old. And to make it even worse Maddox's 18 month photo shots, yeah he is 28 months old?!? I have let gifts to my beloved cousin sit around for a year, I am ashamed and embarrased. Everytime I pass that box, I think of her. I think I have got to get to the postoffice. So on the year anniversary of the " box" I am celebrating by actually mailing it. Alyssa will feel great, she will rcv 2 gifts for 1 birthday.
So as you read this, think about the things that you have at home. I am horrible for procrastinating, but as life gets busier, I just seem to lose the time. My advice for you today is to take care of your "boxes" Don't let a whole year go by.
Well Maddox is 2, and I am aware that most 2 year olds love their own bed. But he has just recently ( the past week) decided that his bed is pretty cool.
This is how bedtimes went bad in this house....... Hayden and I slept together until Jason and I got married. I love aleeping with Hayden, he's warm and snuggly. And to be honest its the only time he's not running that teenager mouth. If I slept with Hayden as much as he would like, percentages show Maddox would not even be with us. He asks atleast once a week. And I enjoy putting Maddox to sleep, we read, sing and talk until he passes out.
BUT Maddox on the other is a horrible sleeper. He kicks, headbutts, and rolls around like a toilet paper roll the whole time keeping the blanket wrapping tighter and tighter.
Well 8 days ago, he started staying in his bed all night. The first few nights he cries for a while, and as the week went on less and less of a concern.
And then the shocker last night Jason asked " Are you ready for nite-nite?" Maddox sharply replied "yeth", He ran in his room said his prayer, and laid down. I was so proud of him.........
Well its monday and again I am tired. It is official Northwestern Carolina Oncology and Hematology is now Carolina Oncology Specialists. Done Deal. The move started last Saturday when we packed everything except the supplies we would need for the upcoming week. And then on Thursday afternoon ( about 3 hours after I lost my voice) We packed what was left. Wow, we had boxes stacked everywhere.
AAA moved us, me and Roberta stayed behind in the commons to give all of the stay and go directions. While the rest of the 45 employees awaited the trucks in the new bldg.
I have failed to mention the size of the new bldg. Our old building had around 9,000 square feet and around 35 parking places. Our current bldg is around 25,900 square feet and around 150 parking places. A much needed transistion. I almost cried when I saw the sign, our new sign with our new logo on it.
Its really sad that we need this much space, but we do. And our patients really need it.
We lifted, packed, stocked, shoved, cleaned and whatever else you can think of that day. It was really exciting, kind of like Christmas. We tore open boxes and raced around trying to beat the clock, all of us knowing Monday would be here before you know it. Around 5:30 on Friday, we were all dragging. We called it a day and started right back up on Saturday.
This place is awesome. Its huge and its pretty. I have to sometimes backstep to make sure I am in the right hall. The chemo/treatment area is just unbelieveable. Its huge with so many extra perks that I am not sure if we can bribe our Lenoir patients to stay with us. The recliners are heated, heated!!!! Who even thought of that.
So this AM we opened with very few disasters. The phones were the biggest issue. Around 9:30 am Dr O realized that no one from either hospital could call in. Yikes. (pretty good idea on opening day, but not intentional, I promise) And by lunch we realized that about 6 or 7 extensions could not dial in. The phone guys worked all day, but as of right now still not up. We'll see tomorrow.
Our patients seemed impressed, we made the move seamless for them. We only closed for one buisness day. But I hope they are all comfortable in their new space.
As I am typing this journal I rcvd an email from a friend who just happens to be a Lenoir patient. Her email stated "that our phones in Hickory did not work today, and she had a feeling the new heated chairs sucked all the power out of the phones" I literally laughed out load. Good one Elizabeth. A little bit of jealousy shining thru, I will have to take it up a notch to make up for the cold chairs !
Pray for us, this is exciting and its about time that the inside of our facility represents the state of the art treatments and studies that go on here everyday.
Saturday I had a wedding to do in Hendersonville. Unfortunately Gary's Fathers Day dinner was planned at the same time. Lisa was kind enough to cook, and Mamal watched the kids. Jason and I arrived just as the presents were being opened. The Tallant men all rcvd Life Is Good shirts from Terrie. They were her "triplets"
Terrie also had a bday party on Sunday. But not till before we enjoyed an awesome service at church. We spoke about forgiveness, and fatherhood. After the video clip (below) was shown everyone was crying. It was a moving service that took almost every father, son, and young man to the altar to pray afterwards. There was something about watching all those men walk to the front. It was so cool.
We had a fun day, and ate way too much.......... Happy Fathers Day Guys. Thanks for all you do.
Well this weekend so far has been a blast. We have all had so much fun. Jason, Hayden, Maddox and I went shopping on Saturday with minimal arguements. Then we went to Terrie and Garys for a cookout. We played in the pool for hours and then had steaks. To top off the evening we played Wii Fit (all of us) It was an absolute blast.
To sum it up, Gary is the slalom king, Jason is the yoga master, I have great balance, Maddox aced the jog, Hayden the best ski jumper, Tyler's hoola hoop will crack you up, and well Mamal Terrie barely got a chance to play from serving us Ice Cream and such. She'll have her turn.
The fun continued yesterday. First church then back to the pool. We have had a fun filled family weekend with lots of love and fellowship. I am very blessed.
Lets see if the rest of the summer can keep up with this great start.
What a great way to share pictures and memories with your family and friends. Love your website very creative.
