We took fifth place in horticultural displays.

The state fair allows us much more creativity in displays. The exhibit is scored much differently than an American Orchid Society judged show. The focus of the fair exhibit is primarily on education.

During the fair there are many horticultural organizations that enter their exhibits and compete for awards. Though there is a central theme every year, there are societies that do not design their exhibit around the theme. This year the fair theme was Super Fun, Super Value (with a Superhero mascot).

Our exhibit was designed to educate the public that growing orchids is Super Fun and that anyone could become a Super grower.The display was set up to look like a backyard growing area, making the visitors to the fair believe that everyone could actually grow orchids.

Our exhibit included a nice selection of member's orchids as well as the everyday items and supplies you might find in your growing area.

Help Us Put in Exhibits at Local Shows

Tampa Bay Orchid Society participates in ORCHID Shows during the Florida show season by putting in an exhibit.  

For 2012-2013, Linda Lowe is our Display Chair.

We exhibit members orchids in artistic and creative themed exhibits at the following events:

• Ridge Orchid Society Show & Sale 2012 Sept. 15-16, 2012
• Florida State Fair in February for 10 days! Feb. 07-18, 2013

Our goal of participating in these shows is to educate the general public to the beauty and diversity of the orchid world.

Additionally, the Society hosts an Annual Show & Sale that allows members, the public and growers an opportunity to exhibit their orchids.
