Welcome to TBAY-Lakeland

TBAY-Lakeland Area Aquatics Swim Team invites swimmers of all levels to participate.

This swim program is competitive for youths ages 5 and older. The club, which is registered with Florida Swimming and United States Swimming, trains at the Gandy Pool at the Kelly Recreation Center and at Simpson Park in Lakeland.

For most of the year, practices are at the Gandy Aquatic Complex Monday through Thursday from 5:00-7:00 p.m.; Fridays 5:00-6:30 p.m.; and Saturdays 8:00-10:00 a.m. During the summer, the club trains at Simpson Aquatic Complex in the mornings Mondays through Thursdays in June and July. Swimmers must be able to demonstrate that they can swim 25 yards freestyle with some degree of success. The club teaches competitive strokes.

Swimmers are divided by ages and development for training. The club competes in Florida swim meets in Central and West Central Florida. Summer swim team opportunities are offered in April through August for novice swimmers.

Costs include an annual $57 fee to USA Swimming. In addition, there are monthly dues and a one-time registration fee of $20.00 per family. Swimmers should submit a completed USA Swim Registration for USA/FL swimming, a copy of their birth certificate, and a check to Coach Roy Wilshire. The Gandy Pool features a 10 lane, 25-yard short course heated pool with a one-meter diving board and a 3-4 feet deep recreation pool. A handicap ramp at 0-depth and a hydraulic handicap lift-chair is provided. Open year round.
Amenities at Gandy Pool include vending machines (food and drink permitted in pavilion areas only), lockers for personal belongings, lap lanes/time clocks available, bleacher seating, shower/changing rooms, PFD’s (personal floatation devices) available for check out.

The completion to another great year of swimming in 2010

It is fitting that the first entry come at the end of a tremendous 2010 for our branch. We've seen consistent growth throuought the year in all of the age group ranges. Some outstanding swimming took place from our novice swimmers to the advanced and many first time accomplishments were acheived during 2010. I know that all of the coaches are excited for the upcoming 2011 year, and it is going to be a milestone year for our branch as we will be celebrating 10 years of providing a great swim opportunity for the Lakeland community.
