TBAY of New Port Richey is committed to providing an enjoyable and complete swimming experience for swimmers of all ages and abilities. It is the tradition of our club to provide a challenging and positive teaching and training environment in which swimmers can develop a sense of self-esteem and pride through individual and team achievement. TBAY is additionally committed to excellence in performance and we continue to strive to be the competitive leader in regional, national, and international competitions.

To be eligible for the team child must be able to swim a 100 yard Individual Medley (Butterfly, Backstroke, Breastroke, and Freestyle).

Coaches

Head Coach

Casey Claflin, Coach Casey Claflin has had a passion for water his entire life. Besides being a competitive swimmer since the age of 8, Claflin swam under an athletic scholarship for the Gamecocks of the University of South Carolina (USC), where he also received an MBA in Finance. He holds a U.S.C.G. Merchant Marine (Captains) license and is an avid fisherman. At one point in his past, Claflin’s love for the water led him to run a charter fishing business in Sarasota . Currently, Claflin's involvement with aquatics includes not only overseeing TBAY’s New Port Richey branch but also coaching the swim team at Gulf High School as well as the Tampa Metro Masters . He has also been a coach for the Sarasota YMCA Sharks (SYS) and the Winter Springs High School swim team.

In 2007, Claflin cracked Top 10 Masters’ Swimming (USMS) short-course and long-course times in the 50, 100 and 200 Backstroke. Since 1999, he has broken 3 Masters' world records although none are currently standing.

Today, Claflin lives in Tarpon Springs (a historic city know for its sponge diving and fishing). He has 2 children—daughter Jessica and his son, Casey Jr., who still holds the 10&U JO state records in the 50M and 100M backstroke.

Coach Wayne Withington

Wayne has been a TBAY coach since 2003 and has coached with two other TBAY coaches before teaming up with Coach Casey . Daughter Emily swam for TBAY of New Port Richey & is now attending Florida Gulf Coast University . Wayne is currently employed with Verizon and has been since 1988 . Wayne is also the head swim coach at Springstead High School. When not working or coaching , Wayne enjoys boating , scuba diving & spearfishing .
