MITZVAH DAY 2012
We have great projects planned for Mitzvah Day including My Brother's Pantry food distribution in the afternoon. The fun begins with breakfast at 9 AM at the Temple. There are activities both on site and off-site to fit any age and ability. The blood-mobile will be at temple awaiting your donation, and volunteers are needed to make breakfast at the Lighthouse shelter and to distribute food packages to food pantry clients in the afternoon. Contact the temple office at 41-757-0552 or templebethshalom@comcast.net for more information.
Don't forget to bring your cameras and upload your photos here, or on Facebook, after the big event!

MITZVAH MONTH-April 2011
April is Mitzvah Month at Temple Beth Shalom, with lots of great volunteer opportunities to choose from. Check out the pictures as they are added to our album this month and see if you can spot your friends from temple. Our volunteers at the SPCA included Eric Pollock, Rebecca and Tammy Satzberg, Ellery, Gregory, David and Lauren Wolfe, Ken and Christina Feldman, and Stacy, Adam and Olivia Maisano. Thanks to eveyone who is making time to volunteer this month.
New Photos!
Check out the new photos posted from the Social Action Committee Hannukah party in honor of the Habitat for Humanity Interfaith Coalition. We ate tasty treats, and shared Hannukah traditions with friends of faiths, as well as learning more about Habitat for Humanity's mission of eliminating poverty housing. It was great to see so many friends there and we look forward to seeing you at the next Habitat build event!
Pumpkin Patch fundraiser supports the Lighthouse Shelter.
Social Action Committee member Lou Shapiro works year round to support the Lighthouse shelter, but never more than this time of year, when she organizes the Pumpkin Patch fundraiser. Volunteers from TBS are among the many volunteers who lend their time and expertise so that all sales can go to support the shelter. Thanks to the volunteers who gave their time, and don't forget to swing by the patch to get your fall decor, home baked goodes and other items, and lend your support to this vital part of our community!
Great New Photos from the High Holidays Food Drive
Temple Beth Shalom had a very successful food drive over the High Holidays this year, thanks to our generous congregation and hard working volunteers. Special thanks go to Damon Teel, for donating the use of his truck, and his time, and to Karen Brachman for helping coordinate volunteers, donation bags, signs for the truck, etc, etc. Cookie Pollack and Beth Robbins are Temple Beth Shalom representatives to My Brother's pantry, and appreciate your help and donations that go towards feeding the 130 families that depend on this assistance every month. Thanks to Laura McDaniel, Ben Fertig and family, Jennifer Curtis, Lori Brawerman, Susan Ferrell, Nancy Sainsbury, Diane Schwartz, Renee Statro, Marion Kay and Linda Harrison for volunteering your time to make this food drive such a success. We also had 2 young volunteers, Marissa Switzman and Katie McDaniel, who helped load the food truck on Yom Kippur. Thanks so much to everyone!

Great Photos of Mitzvah Day 2010
Wow, thanks to all the great volunteers who turned out, despite the grey weather, for one of our best Mitzvah Days ever! From the morning greeting by the children's choir, through the great breakfast and lunch prepared by our volunteers, we worked, smiled, laughed and sweated at projects big and small, in our temple and in our community. Check out the great photos below-thanks to Lori Brawerman for shooting and posting! If you have photos of Mitzvah day or any other Social Action Committee event, feel free to join the site and post your photos as well. Thanks again to all participants!!
Photos from a cold and snowy Habitat for Humanity
About half dozen intrepid enthusiastic do-gooders braved the below freezing temperatures and incipient snow to clear away remnants of a rusted out roof and frame 2nd story walls for a Habitat for Humanity build in the Pigtown neighborhood in Baltimore. Despite ending early due to weather, there was good effort and enthusiasm by all! Great job!

High Holidays Food Drive

Collection Truck
For the High Holidays food drive, our congregation filled a truck for the My Brother's Food Pantry

Wow!-Look at all that food
Temple Beth Shalom members were very generous with their food donations.

Filled collection truck
Damon Teel, Temple Beth Shalom employee, generously donated the use of his truck to collect food over the holidays.

Volunteers sorted and shelved the food.
Cookie Pollack, Linda Harrison and Rene Statro help shelve food at the pantry

Thank you, Damon!!
Damon Teel donated his truck for our food drive, and helped unload all those groceries!!

OK, so some of the food was a little expired..
Unfortunately, we have to discard ANY expired food, so please sort BEFORE you donate!

Full Shelves
The My Brother's Food Pantry feeds over 130 families in Broadneck, so this food will go fast!

Needed supplies
The Food Pantry never has enough donated or government supplied food each month, and ends up buying other foods to make up the difference-so your donations really help!

More yummy stuff
Every family gets a package of staple food each month, with quantity varying by food size. Its not enough to feed them for the month, but it helps!

Lots of Soup!
Every family gets veggies, fruit, soup, pasta, bread mix, peanut butter and tuna or canned meat.

Building the Sukkah
Michael was also working hard that day, so we had to take his picture as well!

Working hard, but still smiling!
