Well it's our favorite time here in the Lou!  We've had a very busy couple of months which is one of the reasons I've been a slacker on posting pics!  We had a fun visit from Aunt Catie and Aunt Diana (Aunt Dana if you ask Nathan), trips to the pumpkin patch, Halloween and trick or treating, and of course Lily's first birthday!  Pics for all of this are below in three different albums.

 

I've been doing a lot of baking for baby and wedding showers and think I have finally perfected my sugar cookie recipe... soft, slightly sweet - perfect for lots of yummy vanilla bean buttercream frosting!  YEAH!  I also got a new job at the same place in Boeing and it is intense but good.  Lots of work to do still but I think I'm up for the challenge!

 

Jeremy is rockin' and rollin' with his work at Boeing as well and keepin' busy with church and elder stuff... as well as working on a paper to be published hopefully at some point in the future.

 

The kids are great!  Nathan is absolutely hysterical and is always doing stuff to make us laugh.  Lily is a total trip and sassy as ever... I don't know where she gets that!  She's cruising on the furniture and will probably walk not too long from now! 

 

Fun times are ahead as we head to San Jose to spend Thanksgiving with Jeremy's fam and then home for the holidays!  It'll be our first time to celebrate Christmas in our house with our fam; time to make some traditions!

We have been busy busy since Jeremy's pig roast!  If you didn't already check out those pics, then see the entire load in the album below. 

 

At the end of August we left for Oregon for a couple of days.  Eric, Jeremy' brother, came in for a quick visit and brought his sweet girlfriend, Mari, with him.  We had a great time hangin' out with the fam and really just being low key.  Nathan and Lily got to spend some great quality time with Mamasan and Papasan - Nathan picked up a new activity... harmonica.  He and Papasan played harmonicas on the deck for a long time one morning... we got some great videos of them - Papasan playing and Nathan dancing... those are just priceless.  The pics of that are in the album below.  Lily got lots of snuggles and revealed her funny little facial quark to everyone... the famous nose crinkle!  Where ever does she get that? hehe  There are some great pics of her doing it... it just cracks me up!  We spent some super fun time at Cannon Beach and Haystack Rock (think The Goonies).  Nathan and Lily played in the sand, we attempted to fly a kite, played in the tidal pools, and just had an awesome super divine time at the beach!  Lots of great pics of the kids.  Some of my favorite pics are in here with the kids and the Sans and then Rod and Judi at the park.  Very very fun and relaxing time!

 

From there we took a flight back to OK to drive down to Falls Creek (oh the memories...) for my family reunion.  It was great seeing everyone and indulging in all the fun family traditions.  There are some fun pics of Jeremy and Nathan in the lake... the water was freezing... and Jeremy got roped into daddy swim duty!!  He and Nathan went down the really big slide and played on the water trampoline... lots of great fun!  Most of the family hadn't met Lily yet, so she got lots of love and snuggles.  She also got enjoy her very first Merry Christmas Bingo event... many more of those to come!  I'll upload some of the more "formal" family photos that were taken... need to still get those downloaded from Wade and then uploaded for you guys!  Some really great ones of the Sato fam, but also of the Parker and Noel clans!! 

 

I think I mentioned last time that Nathan is fully potty trained now and I included a fun pic of him in his big boy underwear.  I just still can't believe how big he's gotten and that he's actually a little boy!  My baby boy is growing up... and in preschool!  GAH!  Lily is now pulling up onto things, attempting to cruise, and is seriously into everything!  That girls puts so much stuff in her mouth... we are constantly sweeping it out and dragging out leaves, paper - you name it!  She is so stinkin' funny.  It's pretty clear now how opposite she and Nathan are.  Lily is extrovert all the way, while Nathan is introverted but can be really social... he's very much like Jeremy in that way.  The thing that's so sweet is how Nathan just loves on her and protects her.  There's a super cute pic of them in the airport on the way to Oregon holding hands... adorable!!!

 

So while we were in Oklahoma, we went to visit my dad and Gram's graves (like we always we do).  I took Nathan with me to put flowers on them and he had these beaded necklaces he took from my mom's house.  We talked a little about Gram and attempted to explain where he was without being to abstract with concepts like heaven.  So I simply said he was in the ground and Nathan said, "Gram died." He's so matter of fact about it and then that opened the door for me to tell him about dad... still trying to keep it simple.  How do you tell your three year old that his mommy's daddy died.  While we were at the cemetery, Nathan put his bead necklaces on gram and dad's graves; it was very sweet.   So it's been interesting talking about death and stuff with him because of course he doesn't fully understand but he knows that people aren't around.  So today when we got home, he went over to the couch and stood up on it and pointed to our family picture (me, Jem, and Nathan sitting on the grass) and said, "Gram died and he's in the grass."  I had to chuckle a little... and then he asked about Papa Loyd (a first) and so I showed him pictures and he kept talking about him.  There's a sadness there but a simple joy too because it means we can share with the kids who these amazing men were in our lives.  So refreshing for a change!

 

We don't have a ton of other things going on!  Visits from friends, concerts (can anyone say Kings of Leon!!!!!) and life in general will keep us going this month!  Our church is launching a second service so we'll be gearing up for that very soon!

Another busy month has almost passed us by!  We spent the early part of August in KC with Jeremy's family and then at a wedding with friends.  We had lots of good times!!!  The kids loved hanging out with their cousins, Joseph and Eli - and the 2 cats! 

 

We just wrapped a big shindig for Jeremy's 30th birthday!  He finally got his wish and we had a pig roast.  It was a huge success with lots of friends over for the event!  Jeremy roasted 85lbs of pork... and the pictures really tell the story well!  Check them out below!

 

We are heading out on vacation later this week to both Oregon and Oklahoma.  Jeremy's brother Eric is bring his girlfriend home for us to meet; we are super excited about that!  Then we head to OK for my annual family reunion.  It's always a great time... and we'll be reliving some fun memories as we'll be at Falls Creek.  Seriously taking me back to my high school days!

 

The kids are doing really great!  Nathan is now officially potty trained - hallaleujah!  He has done a super great job!!!  Lily is literally into everything.  She's crawling like mad, putting everything in her mouth, and is super chatty!  She makes a lot of noise and is even a little bit dramatic!  I'm not really sure where she gets it ;)  She has just started to pull up on stuff and will probably be walking at some point in the next few months... she's a mover... and I can already tell she's going to be an extrovert!  It's definitely been fun watching the two of them grow... so different from each other!

It's been a relatively low key month in terms of events for us.  Nathan is FINALLY starting to go on the potty - HALLALEUJAH!  Lily is crawling and is literally into everything.  That girl is all kinds of mischief - not to mention eats like there's no tomorrow and is working on her 2 front teeth!  Nathan is really into games right now - he loves playing Sorry and Memory.  He's been so much fun! 

 

Jeremy and I haven't had as easy of a time... he got a nasty cold and an ear infection - SERIOUSLY, and I tripped and fell while out on a run and fractured my right elbow.  Talk about annoying and painful.  So no more half marathon training for now... try picking up a toddler with one arm... right!

 

I had a great visit with Diana in NC at the end of June... beach, cosmos, Twilight (seriously, how can you not think Edward/RPattz is HOT!), and just lots of girly chit chat!  Much needed and SO MUCH FUN!  Check out our awesome cosmos in the July album! 

 

The kids both love the water and we spent a day at the local pool... such fun!  No major events coming up for us.

I do not even have words!  I just spent the last 4 hours at a New Kids on the Block concert... heaven!  I seriously was back to my elementary/middle school years... I have never screamed so much or so loud!  Check out the NKOTB album!  UNBELIEVABLE!  I seriously got to touch Donnie and Danny as they were walking by... holy cow!!!!!!!!!!

It never ceases to amaze me how busy life can be and how fast time flies!  Lily is now 8 months old, Nathan 3.  We've had some fun times this past month.

 

Jeremy and I celebrated our 7th anniversary.  We spent the evening (sans kids) at Chandler Hill Vineyards - a new windery here in MO.  It was really nice and a great little place.  Very modern but with a very relaxed atmosphere.  We did a tasting, got some really awesome glasses, had a multi-course meal and then Jeremy had a cigar.  It was a fun time!

 

On June 14th, we welcomed Lily into the church at Refuge.  She was surrounded by friends and family... and what a joy!  We celebrated with a BBQ on Saturday and then went out for lunch after the dedication on Sunday.  It was great having our family from here - my side and Jeremy's to help celebrate this awesome event in Lily's life. 

 

We then spent the entire week on vacation - just here in St. Louis - with Judi (Jeremy's mom).  It was great having her here.  We kept the kids home a couple of days, and sent them to school a couple of days.  We watched movies, ate yummy food, and even took a trip to the zoo with Nathan.  He had a blast riding the train... a lot!  Judi was a huge help with the kids... and I even got some extra sleep!  THANK YOU JUDI!

 

Then we packed everyone up and drove to Dayton, OH to celebrate with Cory and Chelsea - Jeremy's cousins.  Rod (Jeremy's dad) met us up there, along with the rest of the family.  It was a great time for all involved and the wedding was beautiful!  The kids had a fun time with Papa and Grandma GoGo as we call them.  They played in the pool... the water was freezing but they didn't mind!

 

Life is pretty much back to normal.  Jeremy is traveling this week and then I'm traveling next... but other than that, we are rockin' and rollin'!  Enjoy all the new pics... I think I loaded 5 new albums and 4 new videos!!!

We spent Memorial day camping with our friends Trey and Allison and their kids... kind of.  We drove to a local state park on Friday and then got rained out, mosquitoed out, and humidity'd (is that even a word?) out and decided that it wasn't worth it.  So we left Saturday morning and came home.  That night, we went over to our friends' house and ate pizza, watched Slumdog Millionaire (which is really a phenomenal movie) and then stayed up talking really late!  We slept over and then had the breakfast we would have had at the campsite.  So our pseudo camping trip ended up being a lot of fun.

 

On Monday, Jeremy hosted a smoke party - basically where people smoke a ton of meat.  Well, several smokers and grills, a lot of beverages, and 27 lbs of beef, pork and turkey later, we had a party.  It took Jeremy and our friend Cort all day to cook this meat... I of course only ate the turkey (which was awesome).  But others ate pork loin, ribs, brisket... all kinds of good stuff.  You'll see pics of Jeremy and Cort and the meat in the "Fun & Random" album.

 

Baking... after the wedding in IN, I did Nathan's birthday cake, and then moved on to an official order from a friend's sister.  I made 3 1/2 dozen cupcakes with different animal faces (giraffes, pigs, bears, monkeys, lions, and elephants).  She loved them and of course that made me feel good.  You can see those in the "May baking" album.  I also did a fun little diddy last night called PB&J cupcakes... basically a cupcake sandwich with Jelly in the center and PB frosting on top.  They really did taste like a sandwich... it was cool!  I'll be doing another wedding in June for a friend... caramel cupcakes... yummy!

Lily is growing like crazy... although she is still small.  She now has 2 bottom teeth growing in, drools like crazy, and giggles a lot!  She is pretty much ticklish all over, especially her sides and back... she likes doing row row row your boat (she stands on our knees and we hold her hands and pull her in/out).  She's taken to pretty much sleeping through the night which we are excited about... still working on naps though... that girl does not want to miss out on all the action. 

 

I've added some new pics of her in the April-May 2009 folder.  In some of those pictures I think she looks a lot like me when I was a baby... we'll let the family judge that one.  Enjoy them... especially the one of her in the little hat!

We celebrated Nathan's 3rd birthday on May 19th... but had his party on the 16th.  It was a ton of fun!  This was really the first time we had an actual party, and so we really made it an event.  My mom, and Mike, Kyle, Joseph, & Eli were able to come up for the party.  It was so much fun having them here... and just helped make the whole event great!

 

The theme was Construction!  We had tons of construction trucks, shovels, rakes, buckets, SAND, blocks, and of course the jungly gym/climbing wall.  Nathan had about 12 little friends over - girls and boys - and it was just fun watching the kids play... and fight over toys.  We decorated the backyard with construction cones, yellow & black balloons, and road signs to help make it look real.  We served hot dogs, cheese puffs, and potatoe salad... and of course cake!  There are lots of pictures of my construction site cake... I was very excited about it... and the crane actually moves!  Nathan loved opening presents and got lots of fun presents.  You can see some of them in the pictures in that album. 

 

On his actual birthday, Nathan and 2 other boys at school who also turned 3 on the 19th
(Benjamin and Samanyu) celebrated with a giant cookie cake, balloons, and goodie bags.  I of course made some last minute cupcakes for us to celebrate at home that night... overall it was great fun and Nathan loved every minute of it!

 

 

We are excited to welcome Lily into the church on June 14.  We will be having a celebration weekend for her (like we did for Nathan) on June 13 and 14.  More details will be coming, but if you are in town, please plan to come over to the Sato House on the 13th for some ribs and other fun fixin's - including yummy cake!  We will be dedicating her at church on Sunday, the 14th and we'd love for you all to come to that as well!

So a lot has been going... just like in April.  We had nathan's 3rd birthday party (pics coming soon) and a family photo shoot (see below in album "Family Photos").  These pictures were taken by our friend Donna Harris (a link to her website is under links).  She did an amazing job and is just getting started.  We are going to be ordering pics for the family.  So if there is a specific one or more that you want, please let us know.  You can also order them directly via shutterfly.  Just click on the picture you want and then hit the order button.

Nathan has really been helping Jeremy a lot in the yard and loves being outside in his sandbox with his construction trucks and shovels!  Lily is sitting up and eating like a champ.  She loves fruit and her cereal!  We're working on green beans!

Ok, so it has been a while since I've been on here.  Life has been crazy this past month or so!  I'm going to walk you through the month of April because there were a lot of fun things that happened.  There are albums below for each of these things!

 

Passover

Every year, we get to celebrate the first or second night of Passover with our dear friends Mike and Cheryl.  This year was no exception... and fun with Nathan.  Part the Sedar is to find the "Afikomen" (a covered piece of matzah).  Nathan found it this year and got to trade up for a cool bubble toy!  He loves it!  This was Lily's first passover and it was just fun! 

 

Easter

We had a great Easter here at home.  Both of the kids were recovering from being sick (Jeremy too), so we didn't end up going to OK for my Aunt Lory's wedding.  We were sad to miss it but the pictures were beautiful... and she looked gorgeous.  We died Easter eggs with Nathan while Lily watched nearby.  On Sunday morning, it was rainy and cold, so we had nathan search for eggs in the basement.  The Easter Bunny must have read our minds... ;)  He had a lot of fun finding eggs and opening presents from Mamasan and Papasan.  What fun!  We went to church and then to lunch with the Herweck Family.  Nathan got to hunt eggs there too... he likes opening each one as soon as he gets them!  All in all, it was relaxing and very enjoyable.

 

Girls Weekend

For my actual birthday, I was in Chicago with my college girls (Diana, Em, Kath and Karyn).  It was like old times, except for Karyn's pregnant belly... oh and 3 kids... but such fun.  I had Nathan and Lily (they did great on the drive to/from Chicago) and Em had Zoe.  It was the first time for most of us to meet her and she was very cute and sweet.  We really didn't do much... went to the park, ate, and just hung out.  There's nothing like being with the people who know you best and love you for who you are.  Diana and Kath were troopers with all the kids and baby talk.  We threw a little shower for Karyn who was cute with her belly.  Baby Boy Kim will be here sometime this summer... and we gladly welcome him into the commune.

 

My Birthday Celebration

Well... I'm officially 30!  Jeremy planned a great weekend to celebrate the big event.  He had some of our closest friends meet us at Araka (a yummy hip and trendy restaurant in Clayton).  There... my mom and sister surprised me by walking in.  I seriously think my mouth was open for like 5 minutes... oh and there were tears.  It's a long story but I was convinced that Catie was going to be there and then I realized earlier in the day that she wasn't really coming (or so I thought...hehe) and voila - both of them walked in the door!  It was awesome.  That night, Catie and I made a lot of cupcakes for my birthday celebration.  We made 3 varieties -- Mimosa (orange cupcake with a champagne glazed drizzled inside the cake and then topped with a vanilla buttercream), Strawberry with vanilla buttercream, and a caramel cupcake with a vanilla buttercream and homemade caramel sauce swirl.  They were all really good... and melty.  We got them to the wineries in hot weather and some were a little smushed... but they still tasted great!  We had a bunch of friends meet us out at the wineries (Montelle) for finger foods and good wine.  It was a nice day and just great to be with friends and fam.  Overall, it was probably the most relaxing birthday I've had... and such fun.

 

Life

The next few weeks were spent with a new obsession -- Twilight!  When Catie was visiting, she introduced me to Twilight the movie... and that launched me into a whole thing on the books... I seriously read over 2000 pages in less than a week!  It was awesome - I haven't read like that in a long time.  At any rate, I realized that I read them too fast... and now I'm reading them again... slowly.  If you haven't seen Twilight or read the books, I strongly encourage it... it's just too much fun!  To learn more about the books: http://www.stepheniemeyer.com/twilight.html and the movie: http://www.twilightthemovie.com/

 

Lily has been doing all sorts of new things.  She is now able to sit unassisted and play, and she loves to eat.  That girl can seriously put down some cereal (oatmeal or rice) and some veggies and fruit.  She is quick to laugh and smile and just talks and squeals.  It's hysterical!

 

Nathan has been a great helper around here.  He's mostly been helping Jeremy outside get the backyard ready for his upcoming birthday party.  The two of them have been weeding and rehabbing his jungle gym.  Before and after pics are coming - but Jeremy has totally been rockin' that thing! 

 

Cupcakes

Well... over my birthday weekend (the 2nd one) I made a bunch of Elmo cupcakes again... that was fun.  I of course did my own as I mentioned above.  But the crown jewel was the wedding this past weekend in IN.  I was able to help my friend Leah bake, decorate, and display cupcakes for a friend from church's wedding.  We made almost 300 cupcakes - vanilla, chocolate, and red velvet.  All were delish - and beautiful.  There's a whole album on this!  It's amazing how great they looked!!!!  People at the wedding commented on how great they tasted and most couldn't believe they weren't catered from a shop... hehe!  We patted ourselves on the back for that one.

 

Nathan's Birthday

Nathan's going to be turning 3 on the 19th!  It seriously seems hard to believe!  This coming weekend, we are having his big birthday celebration -- CONSTRUCTION!  We will be eating all kinds of yummy snacks, playing in sand and with lots of construction trucks.  There will be blocks, buckets, shovels, and other fun activities... we are hoping it doesn't rain!  I am really excited about his cake... you'll have to wait and see!

Overall - life has been crazy and hectic and good!  I am just amazed at how great Jeremy is to me... for Mother's Day, my birthday, and just everyday!  What a gift to be married to my dearest friend... and he's so hot too!

So over the last couple of entries I told you that Nathan fell and busted his lip... not once, but twice!  So in the process of doing that he managed to chip one of his teeth and then not too long ago we started noticing that his front tooth was becoming discolored.  So we took him to the dentist today... nothing major, we're just supposed to watch it.  But in preparation for the visit, I played this visit up big time.  I didn't want him to be scared and so we talked about what would happen we he got there.  The dentist would have him bite down on something and then take a picture of his mouth, or brush his teeth with a big machine, or poke his teeth.  Turns out the dentist didn't do any of those things... and Nathan even mentioned that this afternoon when I picked him up.  He did, however, get a purple wrist band (he chose it) and refuses to take it.  He's sleeping with it right now!  I'm consistently amazed at how much he retains from what we tell him.

 

Lily is finally over her RSV (respiratory virus) and seems to be doing well!  She was a champ with a severe and nasty cough and a bad bad runny nose.  She slept with us for almost a week.  But she's back to her normal routine and hopefully will be sleeping much better now... which means we will too!  Oh... and we started her on rice cereal today.  She didn't really like it at first, but by the end she was doing pretty good!  See pics in the April2009 album.

 

Tomorrow is the start of the Passover season.  Every year we have the priviledge of celebrating with our friends Mike and Cheryl.  This year will be lots of fun as Nathan is old enough to really participate and to help find the Afikomen!  We normally bring the wine, but this year, we are bringing the veggies.  But what would a special occassion be without a baked good of some sort... oh except it can't have any leavening!  SO... I found a great recipe on my favorite baking blog (www.cupcakeproject.com) and it turns out that the author is Jewish too!  So she of course had several options to choose from.  I ended up going for the chocolate!  These kosher for Passover kupcakes (as I'm calling them) are a bittersweet flourless chocolate cake with chocolate cream cheese frosting.  Talk about intense... check out the pics below in the baking album!  I also added the pics Jeremy took while I was making the Sesame Street and Elmo cupcakes.  I'm excited because I have 1-3 potential orders from other people!!!!

So - first check out the cover of the March album... could Lily be any cuter in her tights and white headband!  I LOVE IT!  Jeremy said that everything she was wearing was completely useless... ahhh to be a woman!

 

I added some new cupcakes to the baking album... these are Snickerdoodle Cupcakes with Cinnamon Buttercream frosting.  I thought they had a great cinnamon flavor... the cake was a little dry but I have a feeling that once they sit with the icing on overnight they will be really good!  That actually happened with my Peanut Butter Cup cupcakes... the PB icing was way too intense on day 1, but then day 2 they mellowed and were really great!!!  The snickerdoodle cupcakes are for the teachers at Goddard... just for being so fab!

 

We were at lunch today at my favorite restaurant in St. Charles - Magpies.  It's a cute little bistro with yummy food.  They are famous for their baked potato soup... which for the purposes of this story are going to call "Clam Chowder."  Jeremy loves clam chowder, and I guess it never crossed my mind to give Nathan any.  So when we were in Oregon, Papasan gave Nathan a bite of his clam chowder.  So after that Nathan was hooked and in that sitting, he managed to eat his own little bowl, plus two more bowls that Papasan was also trying to eat!  It was absolutely hysterical.  So now, he routinely asks for clam chowder.  Well... Magpies only have baked potato soup and nathan wouldn't go for it or anything else on their menu.  So I asked him if he wanted clam chowder and he said Yes!  So... the entire time at lunch, even when we ordered, the server totally humored us and brought out his "clam chowder" which he heartily ate!  Deception... um yeah... maybe just a little!  It was funny though!  Jeremy and I both said at the same time... this is a blog entry. 

 

We are rolling up to my 30th birthday!  I can't even believe it!  I'm super excited to be spending it in Chicago with my girls from WashU... and then back here for a nice dinner and then a trip to the winery!  Fun times!

Lily had a great first week at Goddard!  She is well loved by all the teachers and is basically held all day!  When I went to pick her up this afternoon, she was in the office with one of the teachers... happy as a clam all nice and snuggled in!  The picture in the top strip is of her on her "first day!"  I can't believe how much she looks like Nathan in this picture!

So, in the "Baking" album, you'll see some new creations!  A friend from church asked me to help her practice for a wedding.  She doesn't normally make cupcakes or any treats like this, so today, we spent the entire afternoon and evening making 3 different types of cupcakes and 3 different types of icing, and then different decorating techniques.

We colored some of the icing pink and orange to reflect some of the colors that will be in the wedding and decorated them with irridescent pearls.  We also did some with sanding sugar, shaved chocolate, and some with royal icing flowers (a last minute add).  It was a ton of fun!!!!

 

In 2 weeks, I'm making a Sesame Street cake and Elmo cupcakes for my friend's 1-year old son's birthday party.  I'll post pics when I get them done!!!

Well, I think we are definitely in that stage of life.  Nathan is now akward and gangly and somehow manages to trip over himself routinely.  Yesterday, he and Jeremy were playing on the deck and he fell forward and bam! did a total face plant.  Again, a busted lip... only this time it was on the left side, as opposed to the right side from a couple of weeks ago.  I managed to swoop in like a good mother and even get him cleaned up... but once that was over and I saw the big nasty gash in his lip, I started to feel light headed.  I called Jeremy in... and he took over.  I really don't like blood!  Bumps, bruises, scrapes... fun times!  Blood... not so much!

 

Lily is now just starting become such fun!  She giggles, squeals, and laughs... and even does this funny fake cough to get our attention.  It's hysterical!  She likes to be tossed up in the air and tickled.  She has found a new love... her elephant.  She loves chewing on this toy; in fact, she is perfectly content to roll from tummy to back and back again all while gnawing on it.  That works for me!  She will be starting at Goddard tomorrow morning... we are so excited!!!!!

 

I am posting some fun new videos... check back tomorrow.  Nathan has decided to try out magic... this one is for Uncle Eric!  There's a couple of Lily playing and just chillin'.  And one that is just a super special treat!

 

If you notice on the cover of the "March" album below, Nathan is doing the "I love you" sign.  This has special meaning in my family.  Early in childhood, my dad and mom taught us kids how to sign the alphabet and I love you.  I'm not really sure why, but we all know the letters.  So in college, as I was driving away to head back to school, my dad would stand on the porch and wave and do the "I love you" sign.  It kind of became a tradition and pretty much is still on going!  Well when my dad was in the hospital before he passed away, the only way he could communicate with us was to spell (sign).  So he would routinely sign us messages, but always the I love you sign.  I guess Nathan saw us making it when we were leaving Oklahoma the last time and started doing it.  Here is saying, "I love you!"  That's a tribute to my dad... we haven't told him about dad yet... I'm just not sure it would make sense, but someday we'll get to share how awesome he was... and how much I miss him.

Lily has been sleeping in her crib for a while now... but she has always been swaddled super tight (a technique we learned and love from Happiest Baby on the Block).  We have just recently been trying to help her learn to sleep without all the extra fuss... so she's in a sleep sack to keep her warm (no blankets).  Well she's also figured out how to roll in both directions.  That girl can MOVE ... she is all over the crib.  The pictures in "March" are seriously of her one morning.  She had all of her limbs hanging out of the crib, except one hand and she was sucking her thumb.

 

She is funny and full of laughs and squeals.  She just had her 4 month check up and is a little small but nothing to worry about.  She's about 12lbs.  She starts at The Goddard School on Monday and we are super excited to finally have both kids at the same place.  Pick up and drop off will be SO much easier!

Nathan is sitting in my lap as I write this and he's actually helping me!  He has been spending a lot of time outside playing in the old treehouse (jungle gym) in our backyard.  Today we played out there until it started raining.  Then we had to come in.  We put a slide beside the entrance so that he could climb up the ladder and then down the slide.  He wants to put some toys, especially cars, in his tree house.  He has been really funny about the whole thing... sometimes he calls it his tree house bar... not sure where that came from but we go with it.  There are pictures below in "March" with him in it.  Normally we don't let him play outside, but our backyard is pretty secluded... him being out there has made us realize how big he is getting.  We often catch him reading books to himself or just lost in his imagination... it's so fun!

DoDo... this has been the "in" term in our house.  Everything is dodo, especially when he doesn't know the answer.

 

 

Nathan and Lily are so sweet!  Nathan is just full of laughs and is always cracking us up.  He is in love with the camera and is always taking pictures of random things.  We have to keep him from snapping pics right in front of Lily's eyes, but other than that he seems to get it.  Nathan is also into playing cards... I think he takes after his Uncle Eric.

Bath time continues to be fun... you can see some of the pics below in Feblife of the kids and especially Lily who is just too stinkin' cute in her hoodie towel.  There is a whole album of just her in LilySmiles... she's so smiley now and laughs easily.  She will officially be starting at The Goddard School (where Nathan goes) on March 16th.  That'll be a nice change since we are currently dropping them off at 2 separate locations. 

I've been doing a lot of baking and experimenting.  I'm really excited because this weekend I'm taking a 10 hour baking class!  Check out this vanilla bean buttercream cheese frosting and red velvet cupcakes.  They were GOOD!

Well, it finally happened.  Nathan was walking in Lily's room when he tripped and went sprawling face first into the windowsill.  I knew there would be blood, I just didn't know where.  I put Lily down and scrambled to get him and his lip and cheek were covered in blood.  Trying to hide my horror, I said, "it's okay!  it's okay!"  I got him to the bathroom and got him cleaned up and he had two teeth bites in his lip and the inside was all torn up.  But with a little chocolate, some ice, blankie, and his dog video he was all set.  The pictures are below!

Life has settled into a comfortable routine now that I'm back at work and we are back from the holiday travels.  Jeremy and I have worked out some systems (Saving You Stress Time Energy and Money) to help make things flow more smoothly and to also reduce the amount of time we spend on all the random stuff that has to get done each night.  This has freed us up to be able to spend real quality time with the kids in the evenings! 

 

Nathan got a bike a while back but it's was and still is a little too tall for him.  Jeremy attempted to help him reach by putting wood wedges on the the pedals, but it still didn't work too well.  I'm including some pictures from the bike attempt!  Nathan looks so big.  I had this bittersweet moment tonight as he was playing... he will not always be this stinkin' cute and snuggly and playful with us.  And then I got excited for all that lays ahead... he's a funny kid!!

 

Lily just started rolling from her back to her tummy... she hasn't quite mastered the tummy to back roll.  She is so much more vocal and smiley!  When I pick her up, she just smiles really wide and makes the cutest sounds!  I love watching her grow.  I can hardly believe she will be 4 months old next week!

 

I'm adding two albums of pictures... one from my Gram's funeral.  All the cousins got together and had a photo.  My aunt also made the really cool floral arrangement - it has one of my Gram's records, knives, and other fun memories!  At the cemetery, all the grandkids released white balloons while my grandma released a red balloon... not environmentally friendly, but symbolic and beautifl.  The other album is of the kids and us just hanging out and playing!  I'm working on some videos too!

Today is my Gram's funeral... i knew this day would come at some point but it sems hard to believe that my dad's dad is finally gone.  i have the priviledge of delivering the eulogy at his funeral today... here are some of the pieces of my Gram's life.

 

Curtis Parker of died Wednesday, February 4, 2009, at the age of 76. He was born February 9, 1932, in to George and Minnie Parker.

Curtis was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Helen, and one son, Loyd Parker.

He is survived by his loving wife of 21 years, Kay of the home; son, Ronnie Parker of Tulsa; daughter-in-law, Ann Parker of Sapulpa, step-sons, Walter Andrews and his wife, Ronda of Baltimore, and David Andrews and his wife, Reta of Sapulpa. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren, and sisters, Mildred Yocum of , and Martha Copeland of

His Pallbearers are his 8 grandsons - Courtney Parker, Jarrod Parker, Chris Andrews, Heath Parker, Chuck Andrews, Michael Andrews, Brady Parker, and Caleb Andrews.  His honorary pallbearers are Jeremy Sato, Sam Caton, Adam Holton and Danny Hastings.

 

Gram, as we called him, was a man of many trades and hobbies.  For years he owned his own business, Parker Dust Control, and then moved on to work for Yale Cleaners.  He loved making knives and fishing, and also made time for writing country songs. Many of my fondest childhood memories with Gram involve his harmonica, a microphone and singing songs like “grasshopper sittin’ on the railroad tracks singing polly wolly doodle all day.”  Gram loved us kids and couldn’t help but spoil us rotten with dill pickles, candy, cokes, and breakfasts at Steak n Eggs… and of course jokes.  He told the same silly jokes over and over again… so much so that we have his most famous one memorized:  What do you call a dog with no legs?  Nothing… he wouldn’t come anyway…. I can hear him chuckling right now. 

 

Gram was an active member of Westside Free Will Baptist Church.  I feel such joy and peace right now knowing that after many years and prayers he finally came to Christ.  I can only imagine the raucous he is causing in heaven.  He’s probably talking to everyone he meets and even cracking jokes.  There is joy in knowing that he is with my dad, his brothers and sisters, and many others who have preceded him. 

 

My Gram was full of love and life, warm hugs and lots of laughs.  He loved his family dearly…and he will be desperately missed.

We got about 5-7 inches of snow on Monday and Tuesday which was perfect for sledding.  We took Nathan in the backyard and sat him on the saucer and down he went!  He absolutely loved it!  I've uploaded a video of him sledding, as well as some fun pics from the day!  What fun!

 

Then Nathan and I shoveled the driveway and walkway.  I probably overdid it, because my back is achy now, but it was a great workout!  Nathan also discovered that snow is yummy... this is seriously the life!

 

 

We have gotten ourselves into a new routine now that I'm back at work.  We are even rockin' our budget and planning our meals!  Talk about systems -- (Saving You Stress, Time, Energy, and Money)!  Lily seems to be adjusting to life away from us during the day.  She is doing well at the babysitter's house and with taking her bottles.  She is full of smiles and has just started laughing if you nuzzle her belly or cheeks with your nose.  It's really cute.  You can also see pictures below of her sitting in the bumbo chair... she's so grown up at the ripe old age of 3 months!

 

Nathan is doing great in his Dolphins class.  He really loves going to school and comes home with all kinds of fun projects and stories.  He is really fascinated with taking pictures.  So we found an old digital camera here and let him snap pics to his heart's content.  See pictures below!!

 

Check out the awesome cupcakes I made for my friend Allison's shower.  They were fun to make and turned out exactly like the picture.  I got the recipes from www.cupcakeproject.com.  A great website by a lady here in St. Louis who makes all kinds of cool creations.  Someday I will own or work in a bakery...

 

We've been hanging out with friends mostly... skating with our community group, celebrating my sorority's founder's day with sisters, and gearing up for some fun date nights and a pottery painting session!  Fun times!!!

Wow... I can't believe Nathan is already such a little man.. he's definitely a big boy now!  He had his first school program last night and it was really cute.  His class, The Dolphins, sang or should I say, yelled, "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star" and "1-2-3 Little Snowflakes."  The kids did really great and Nathan and even did the hand motions!  It was fun!  I am in the process of uploading a video of them singing.  It'll be on the right hand side under videos.  There are also pictures below of the event!

 

 

Well... the time finally came for me to go back to work, and so I did!  I just finished my second day and it seems to be going pretty smoothly.  We like to keep things pretty crazy in the Sato household... so Jeremy is on trips this week and next... talk about flying solo!  We are working on our morning routine which is a little hectic but for now seems to work.  Eventually things will simplify when Lily goes to the Goddard School with Nathan.  For now, she is being taken care of by the sister-in-law of one of my co-workers.  Lily seems to be making the transition relatively well, although she isn't eating much right now.  So I'm going to be working with Heather (the babysitter) to do some more structured feedings/wakings with Lily.  We just want to make sure she's eating plenty of yummy milk!  Nathan is glad to be back in his routine and loves going to "Dolphins" (his class at school).  He's funny!

Lily's test went really well this morning!  She was a trooper through the whole thing and it wasn't as bad (the procedure) as we thought it would be.  She fussed when they inserted the catheter but otherwise was so cute and smiley!  You gotta love babies.  The test took about 15-20 minutes and then we met with the urologist.  He was really great and explained everything and even drew it all out on the bed sheet... funny.  At any rate, he doesn't believe based on what he's seen that she has a real problem.  They are going to continue monitoring her for the next year or so to make sure everything is functioning normally and that her kidneys are growing properly!  Thank God for that!!

Thank you all for your prayers and emails!  We are definitely blessed to have such a great support system and dear friends!

Tomorrow (Friday), we are taking Lily to Cardinal-Glennon Children's Hospital to have a Voiding Cystourethrogram (VCUG).  This is a fancy way of saying she is having a catheterization to check for blockage or other issues in her urinary tract.  As some of you know, while Lily was still in the womb, they detected an abnormality in her renal pelvis (where the kidney connects to the ureter which ultimately connects to the bladder).  There was a slight dilation and it has remained the same throughout her whole womb-time, and is still dilated.  They are going to do this procedure tomorrow to see if they can figure out why it is dilated and what is causing it.  They need to do this to ensure that she doesn't get kidney and urinary tract infections, and other potential problems.  At this point, Lily is asymptomatic and seems to be doing fine, although she is on a course of antibiotics to prevent infection and to also maintain a sterile field when they insert the catheter. This procedure will be a little bit painful when they put in the catheter but should otherwise be fine. 

We are asking for your prayers - for her and for us.  I think I'm more worked up about it than she will be.  But if you could pray that she wouldn't feel much pain, that the test would go well, and that the results would be positive, we would greatly appreciate it.  If you want to throw one in there for me and Jeremy that would be great too!

I'll post an update after we know more!!

We finished up our trip to Oregon on Dec 31st, and flew home that afternoon.  We celebrated NYE quietly at our house and then went to bed... we are real party animals!  The next morning we loaded everyone up and drove to Oklahoma.

 

We made it safely and had a really great time with Jess' family.  Everyone got to meet Lily and see Nathan (and us too).  We had a really low key time and it was really great to see all the grandparents and spend time with Jarrod, Catie, Sam, and Jennie.  Nathan got some good quality time in with Cambrie and Sydney (his cousins) and lots of lovin' from his great-grandparents! 

 

While in OK, we also got to watch 2 friends from St. Charles get married - Tyler and Shannon.  It was a beautiful ceremony and great to see them start their life together.

 

We left OK for St. Charles this morning, and are now back at home in our own space.  Nathan starts school tomorrow, Jeremy heads back to work, and Lily & I are holding down the fort.  I head back to work on the 12th! 

 

It's been a really great 2 1/2 weeks and we had such a great time with our family and friends!!

We have had such a wonderful Christmas morning!  Nathan woke everyone up around 8:30 and we all headed upstairs. Nathan got to see if Santa ate his cookie and milk... and sure enough, he did!  He even left a note and a present!  A fun new play dough set with lots of fun tools.  Then we all opened our stockings... and then the fun really began!  We had coffee bula and hot beverages, and then opened our gifts from our secret santa!  Nathan and Lily had tons of gifts to open and Nathan had a ton of fun doing it!!  See the Oregon album for more pictures from last night and this morning.

 

Now we are getting ready to prepare for our dinner of prime rib, salmon, roasted veggies, citrus salad and yummy pumpkin pie!  For now... it's lunch time... Chinese!

The boys are out skiing, Judi and I baked coffee bula (a Sato family tradition), and Rod and the rest of the gang are out and about!   It has been a very relaxing day overall!  We'll be doing some last minute shopping tomorrow and then the festivities begin!  Christmas eve services, watching the yule log burn, and perhaps a viewing of A Christmas Story!  Nathan will be setting out his milk and cookies for Santa and then the Christmas magic begins...

Nathan has been so funny lately!  He talks all the time and like most 2 1/2 year olds says some of the funniest things.  When we were eating hamburgers and he kept calling them "hangobers."  Here are some of the other funny things he says...

Zip it up = bis it up

 

He is obsessed with the camera and making videos... "take a pitcher, mom" and is not concerned with vanity... "i cute" or "i hot stuff!"  Such joy have a 2 year old. 

 

Nathan is loving being here with family.  He laughs and is constantly seeking attention from his grandma and papa and his mamasan and papasan.  The Sans have been playing ball with him and humoring his every whim, which is definitely great fun!  He laughs a lot and is a bundle of non-stop fun!!

 

Right now he's eating a candy cane and it's running all down his chin... yummy!

 

We took Nathan to visit Santa Claus yesterday at the mall... and well, it didn't go well.  He stood in line with Judi and then when it was time to go sit on Santa's lap, he wasn't having it.  He was scared and we didn't force him... but Santa still gave him a candy cane and some stickers.  Oh well... next year.

 

Eric (Jeremy's brother) arrived this morning and now the family is complete!  It's snowing (we're expecting 6-10 inches today)... and Christmas is around the corner!!  What could be better!

We are in Oregon now and loving every second!  We had a very easy travel day on Wednesday... except for our suitcase wheel breaking off right as we were about to load up in the car (thank God for Walmart).  Once we made it to the airport, things went very smoothly.  Both Nathan and Lily did well on the flights and in the airports.  We had lots of toys and snacks along the way. 

 

We arrived in Portland around 7pm and Rod picked us up!  It true Portland style it was rainy, but still divine.  Walking out of the airport and across the bridge tot he parking garage it smelled so fresh... nothing like Oregon air!  Nathan zonked out on the car ride to the house (no naps that day for him) and Lily was wide awake.  So we put Nathan straight to bed and Judi and the Sans just gobbled her up. 

 

Yesterday was spent relaxing and getting a Christmas tree!  Nathan played with the Sans alot!  Balls, books, coloring, you name it!  It seems like the holidays are starting to really get into the full siwng of things.  Eric arrives from Japan tomorrow morning and the baking begins today!!!

 

 

Lily is now 6 weeks old and doing great! She has just started smiling and begun to coo and make lots of sweet noises... she's very sweet!

 

She's definitely gotten the hang of nursing and is sleeping well... sometime I wonder if it's too much but then I just thank God it occurs at night so I can sleep too!

I hosted my first ever cookie exchange on Saturday evening and it was amazing!  I easily had over 2000 cookies in my house!  Each woman brought 5-6 dozen cookies and we all got to take a couple from each platter.  There were all kinds of cookies - some traditional like snickerdoodle, sugar and gingerbread, and then others more elaborate like almond joy balls, colored pinwheels, peanut butter mice... the pictures speak volumes!  We even had some people dress up like Christmas trees and elves!  It was seriously great and I'm hoping to make it a yearly traditional!

We have had such a great, family-filled, fun weekend!  We spent Thanksgiving day serving the people of St. Charles at The Big Feast (a holiday meal for the homeless and those in need) and then preparing for Thanksgiving dinner.  We were blessed to join our friends Trey and Allison Herweck and Trey's parents, Hal and Nancy, and all the kids for dinner.  It was a feast to say the least and a very low-key way to spend the holidays. 

 

On Friday, we ventured our to Sunbrite tree farm and found a great Christmas tree!  This has been a family tradition for Jeremy for years, and for our family since we first got married.  Nathan had a great time trekking through the forest and carrying the saw.  Once we found our tree, Jeremy and Nathan cut it down and loaded it on the wagon!  Lily slept the entire time and was completely oblivious to our family tradition... but she was with us nonetheless!  We spent the rest of the day decorating the house - both inside and out!

 

One of the best parts of our weekend though was our trip to St. John's Lutheran Church for the Peter Mayer - Stars and Promises Alive 2008 concert.  We first heard about Peter from a college friend who played the violin in his band; he gave us a copy of the CD, and it has become one of our favorites.  We found out he was coming to St. Louis and so we went as a family to hear him!  It was AWESOME!  The church was absolutely beautiful, as was the set.  THe music was absolutely amazing and we actually purchased a double CD of the concert!  He has a bunch of CDs - some Christmas and some not.  But definitely check them out.  You can learn more about Peter Mayer by going to his website http://www.petermayer.com/ and even check out some of his music as his online store http://www.littleflockmusic.com/artist.asp?artist=pmayer.  Nathan really enjoyed the music and the lights and the clapping!  He snuggled in with us... and of course took off his socks and shoes.  During intermission, he gobbled up Hawaiian punch and cookies.  Lily slept for part of the concert, but ate most of the rest of the time!

 

Today we have been home together decorating and getting the house ready for the holidays!  I finished up my Christmas cookie ornaments and decorated two mini trees with them.  The living room and dining rooms are all decorated with lots of lights and our house smells of evergreen and cookies!  The holidays are definitely here!  We will be ushering in advent by reading the scriptures and lighting the candles tomorrow at church.  Jeremy made a gorgeous advent wreath with fresh greens and berries!

It seems hard to believe but Lily is already 1 month old!  Time really is flying!  She is now over 9lbs... she sure does love that milk... and growing a ton.  We finally seem to have her reflux under control and are trying to clear up a plugged tear duct right now.  But overall she is doing super well. 

 

We think she might be intolerant to dairy... meaning through me.  So I've been cutting out dairy... which means no stinkin' ice cream!  Who can live without ice cream?  Soy anyone?

I am going to be hosting a cookie exchange on Dec 6th.  So in preparation for it, I have been making cookie ornaments... Jeremy snapped these fun pics of me decorating them.  I seriously can't wait for the Christmas season.  I've been listening to Christmas music (normally taboo before Thanksgiving) for almost 2 weeks... I just can't help myself.  Stay tuned for more fun pics from the party, and also the gingerbread house decorating party that my friend Allison is hosting! 

 

Oh... I finally got the digital images from our labor and delivery session, as well as Lily's newborn session.  I'm loading those below in case you couldn't access the link I originally sent.  Also - to the grandparents and great grandparents - pictures are FINALLY in the mail!  Be on the look out!

We took Nathan to see Madagascar 2 on Friday night.  It was his first time to the movie theater and he did great!  We got some popcorn and a bottle of water... both of which he wanted to hold.  He was pretty engaged in the movie and would yell out the different animals he saw and laugh and clap... it was really cute.  Best part of all was when he took off his socks and shoes and made himself completely at home!  Fun times!

 

That same night we also spent quality time at the outlet mall (movie theater is there) and took Nathan on the carousel (he's been wanting to do that for a long time) and to the indoor play area!  It was rockin'!

 

 

We are settled in now and chugging on!  Lily is now over 8lbs and has just gone through her second growth spurt.  She's been recovering with lots of sleep... and that means we have been getting sleep too!  YAY!

 

We spent the evening at our annual church bonfire!  We enjoyed a massive fire, hotdogs, s'mores, and a few flurries with our good friends.  It was good fun and has become a tradition for our family.  Lily was a trooper and slept most of the time... except when she woke up briefly to eat.  She was perfectly content to hang out in the front carrier.  Nathan enjoyed the fire and sneaking mini marshmallows.  We think he probably had about 4 or 5 cups full and wanted more.  He also found a really big stick and did not appreciate Jeremy putting it in the fire!  There are lots of pictures below!

 

Lily is 2 weeks old today.  She is growing, growing, growing.  I took her to her 2 week appointment on Monday and she had already gotten back to her birth weight and gained more (7lbs 10 oz) and she grew an inch (21 in)!  She is a great sleeper which means I usually get about a 4-5 hour stretch of sleep at night.  Not always, but enough to help me feel rested.  She has a sweet disposition and is such a joy to be with throughout the day.

 

We've been adjusting well and have had a lot of great help from our friends from church who have been bringing us meals!  We're keeping a gallery of photos for as many as we can!  It has been really nice to have help in that arena... not to mention that the food is really yummy!  I've discovered once again the importance of getting out of the house each day - even if it's just for a walk.  I start to feel stir crazy cooped up inside.  I'm setting up "play dates" with some good friends over the next few weeks - so that she be good fun... for me!

 

Nathan is in a growth spurt and seems to be getting so much taller... when he's next to Lily he seems gigantic!  He just transitioned to the next class at school and will be there for a while (until he's fully potty trained).  He seems to be thriving and likes his three new teachers (Miss Rachel, Lori, and Sherry).  Time is really flying as he grows up... my sweet boy.  Thank goodness he still gives me lots of hugs and kisses!

Nathan had an awesome time trick or treating this year.  He dressed up like Superman and was very excited about the candy.  He talked about it all day and kept saying "costume" and "candy."  I walked him around our cul-de-sac and he was greeted with lots of warm smiles from our immediate neighbors.  Then Jeremy took him to a lot of houses in our neighborhood.  Nathan walked up to each house and then said "trick or treat" really loudly... and then "one more house!"  He definitely gets it!

 

Lily made her debut to the neighbors as well.  She didn't really dress up but had a halloween onesie and a little pumpkin hat.  She was a cutie! There are pics below!

We have slowly begun to return to life as normal.  Nathan is back to school, Jeremy is back to work, and my mom is on her way home.  We've spent the last few days getting used to having a baby in the house, but also appreciating the downtime as a family.

We took a quick trip to the wineries, carved pumpkins, built a bonfire and roasted hotdogs and smores, and planted daffodil bulbs.  Lily had her first bath and has been super sweet.  She sleeps a lot, snorts (yeah I know!), and is super mellow.  All in all it's been low key and fun!

Our labor pictures, as well as Lily's newborn photos are up and ready to view.  They are really good... and you'll get a glimpse of the process for our natural birth.  Enjoy!

Lily and Nathan are doing really great.  We are home now from the hospital (discharged on Saturday) and have settled in at home.  Life is chaotic trying to find the balance between taking care of Lily's every need but making sure Nathan gets lots of good quality time.  He's been a trooper and really seems to love her... even if he is a bit aloof sometimes.  He has been asking to hold her and has even given her kisses.  He asks about her and tells us when she's crying or eating or sleeping.  It's really cute!  Nathan has been showered with gifts of his own from Lily and us - a wooden train track and trains from Thomas the Train!  We've created a special box of toys for him for when Lily is nursing and we can't give him our full attention.  I'm proud of him and feel fortunate that he just goes with the flow!  Today he and I are going to make cookies when he gets home from school!

Lily is doing really well.  She's been eating and sleeping like a champ and like Nathan seems to be really mild mannered.  She has lots of black hair and the cutest little nose.  She's a snuggle bug... seeming to feel most comfortable laying on our chests.  I had forgotten how much they sleep and how sweet they are all the time!  We had to buy some new clothes for her because literally everything we had for her was too big!  hehe Definitely not a problem we had with Nathan.  So I got her a couple of newborn outfits yesterday and she is lookin' great!  We had her first appointment with the pediatrician today and she checks out fine... although she's a little bit jaundiced.  We made a special trip to get her blood tested and will know more about that later!

A number of people have asked how our labor and delivery went... so here goes!

 

Most of you know that we having been planning and preparing for a natural birth since we found out we were pregnant.  So all along I was telling myself and others that that was our plan knowing full well that I needed to really get it out there in order to hold firm on my commitment to myself.  I'm glad I did that because the whole process was a lot more painful than I thought it was going to be.

 

We began laboring around 11pm on Wednesday evening.  In true form, I had to go to the bathroom like everything 30 minutes and then went back to sleep off and on for the next few hours but eventually couldn't sleep any more.  I woke Jeremy up around 3am and we started timing the contractions.  They were ranging between 3-6 minutes so we just hung out and took care of the little things around the house.  I wanted to make sure everything was in order and clean... oh and that my toe nails were painted!  Nathan, woke up around 7am and we spent some quality time with him before we dropped him off at school around 9.  From there we basically spent the day together laboring at home, walking around the grocery store (it was raining outside) and getting breakfast at Bob Evans (a tradition now since we did it with both babies).  Labor really ebbed and flowed for most of the afternoon and then around 3pm I really felt things kick into gear.  Contractions were extremely painful and coming about every 3-5 minutes.  Jeremy decided that we needed to go ahead and get to the hospital and hopefully avoid rush hour traffic... which we did thank goodness!  We got to the hospital around 4 and spent an hour in triage being monitored and checked, and then finally admitted!  Sadly, I was only 4cm and thought you have got to be kidding... this labor is never going to end!

 

We had reserved a special birthing tub in case we got to the hospital and had time for it... and given that I was only 4cm, we had time.  So they set up the aqua doula tub in our room and it was seriously the thing that helped me make it through.  The warm water and just being able tofloat a little bit helped move me a long!  In a matter of an hour and half or so I made it to 8cm.  I had a lot of bad back labor and the nurses and our photographer were awesome - using techniques that had worked for them during their natural births!  Finally, I hit transition around 6:45-7pm and got the most intense urge to push!  So four pushes later, our little girl was finally here!  Lily Eve arrived at 7:37pm and was 7lbs 6oz and 20 inches long.  She is absolutely precious and looks alot like her big brother did at birth! 

 

This experience was SO different from Nathan's birth - both unique and resulting in the sweetest most gorgeous babies!  I'm glad I had the experience of doing a natural birth and wouldn't change it at all!  In the end, I felt tired but energized and just amazed that she was finally here! Wow... so amazing!

 

Lily Eve Sato was born at Missouri Baptist on 23 October 2008 at 7:37pm.  She weighs 7 pounds, 6 ounces, and had a much smaller head than Nathan's (thank God).  Everyone is doing great!

We've been spending lots of time outside because the weather has been quite warm!  We got a fire pit last year for our backyard and are finally being able to use it.  Nathan enjoyed eating smores and chillin' by the fire.  We also went to the park where we finally got him to go on the "tisty" slide (see album Fall Activities)!

 

We also went to the Daniel's Farm and spent time at the pumpkin patch!  While there we went through a hay bale maze, went to the petting zoo, played on the slide and swings, and even went on a train ride.  But best of all, we picked out lots of pumpkins to carve and decorate the house.
