Chris and Tami Althoff live in Norman, Oklahoma, with their dashing son Asher and darling daughter Avery. Tami likes to play with words (she's a writer) and Chris likes to play with rocks (he's a petroleum geologist). Chris also plays the drums.
Asher just likes to play, period, and Avery sleeps a lot.
We thought this site would be a simple way to share our photos with you -- our friends and family.
Enjoy.
April 25 was a busy day. We started off by eating breakfast at Daylight Donuts. Asher loved the old couple singing gospel songs as much as he did the donuts. After we finished up, we headed to the Cleveland County Fairgrounds where we attend Touch a Truck Day. Asher honked horns, sounded sirens and tested out everything from a police cruiser to a UPS truck. His favorite was the mail truck. His least favorite was the Braum's ice cream truck. He thought it was too cold.
After that, we headed over to the farm market to look at veggies and flowers. We also checked out a dog show and a flea market.
After lunch and a short nap, we all went to downtown Norman for the Norman Music Festival. Asher got to see his favorite band, the Sugar Free Allstars, and he had his hair painted blue. He and his friend Fox danced the day away -- and tried to get into a little trouble. An attempt to sneak back stage was averted by Fox's dad. I also caught the two boys flirting with a few girls -- some older, some younger. I'm blaming it on the hair.
I think we may be in trouble when Asher hits his teens.
We started off the spring by celebrating Asher's 2nd birthday at his Gigi's house. Family members and Asher's friends Fox, Carisa and Hazel joined in on the fun. We had frog cupcakes and played with balls and bubbles. Fox and Asher created their own method of fun -- the laundry basket relay.
We all had a great time, and collected lots of snacks for the children at Center for Children and Families in Norman. The center was very appreciative of all the donations.
For Asher's birthday, we also took him to see "Sesame Street Live." It was Asher's "first date," as Carisa and her mommy and daddy went with us. We all had so much fun. The biggest hit of the show was, of course, Elmo.
Asher and I are currently taking a parent/child swimming class, which is wearing us both out. It's hard to lift a 30 pound toddler repetitively even in the water -- especially while pregnant.
This spring we've also been visited by Asher's Grandpa Dale. He came up here from Dallas for the Red & White Game. It was Asher's first football game, and he loved it. We are looking forward to taking him to a few games this fall.
Finally, we celebrated Easter at Asher's Nana and Papa's house. We also went to an Easter egg hunt at CrossPointe Church. Asher enjoyed the music a lot more than hunting eggs. Maybe next year he'll be more egg-cited about egg hunts.
We kicked of the holiday season by spending Thanksgiving at Nana and PaPa's house in Edmond. Asher has a blast playing with his cousin Ashleigh.
The next day, we went to the boat parade on the Oklahoma River with GiGi. Asher loved the boats all decorated with lights. He also enjoyed the fireworks.
Also that weekend, Chris put our Christmas lights up. Our house looks like Clark Griswold paid a visit.
Dec. 4, Asher and I went to Holiday Happening at the Sam Noble Oklahoma Museum of Natural History. Asher really enjoyed looking at dinosaurs, digging for fossils and watching turtles in the aquariums. The hit of the evening was Frosty the Snowman. Asher liked giving him hugs.
Asher has been very busy this past month. On Oct. 11, he went to the OU homecoming parade with his cousin Ashleigh, Aunt Tara (Ra Ra) and me. Great-Grandpa Ed and Great-Uncle Alan met us there. Chris marched in the parade with the school of geology and geophysics. Afteward, we went to the pumpkin patch, picked out pumpkins and took them home and painted them. It was so much fun. Asher also brought home a ton of candy from the parade.
On Oct. 26, we had our fall carnival at church, the HeeHaw Hoedown. Asher wore his Donald Duck costume and won the children's costume contest. I won the pumpkin carving contest. Asher got more candy and rode his first horse.
On Halloween, Asher had his big party at school. He got his costume filthy and ripped a whole in the back of his tights. We had to stop at Wal-Mart for some last-minute wardrobe fixes. He enjoyed trick-or-treating at the mall, and we stopped by a few of our favorite people's houses. I think it was a successful Halloween.
Now, what are we going to do with all of this candy?
