Dreams Really Do Come True

This year for Christmas we gave our children some magic. Disney magic that is. It was the BEST Christmas morning surprise!!! We set sail Feb 28 - March 4 on the beautiful Disney Wonder. It was something that I always wanted to do with my children. And I wanted to take them when they were young enough to enjoy the magic that makes Disney so special. It really was a dream come true for me. It was everything I hoped it would be and more. It was extra special that Grandma and Grandpa Osborne came with us AND that Dave celebrated his big 4–0 birthday on the cruise. What a way to celebrate :)

I put together a little slide show with music of some of my favorites. And you know me... there were LOTS! It's under the video tab at the top. Something funny - Mom and Dad and the boys were short one life jacket in their room. Mom and dad were cute and coordinating that day, both wearing orange shirts. SO mom says: I just won't wear one and they won't even notice because I am wearing an orange shirt. Maybe you had to be there -- it was funny!

This dining room was amazing. It is called Animators Palate. (It cost them $10 million to build) The room started our this very cool and kind of retro, sophisticated black and white. As the meal progressed the wall slowly began changing color as did the clothing the servers were wearing. By the end of the meal the room was vibrant and colorful. It was very awesome!

Rocky Point, Mexico - Fall break 2009

We were so excited for Fall Break this year! We headed back to Rocky Point, our favorite family paradise in Mexico. This year was extra special and FUN because the Boise Buhrleys flew into Phoenix and joined us, making for a fabulous trip! We ALL had so much fun - my kids were in HEAVEN hanging out with their cousins. The weather was lovely and the company was even better!!! I think having them come with us might just have to be a new and improved part of the tradition -- what do you say guys? :) Of course we took tons of pictures (we have to, it goes with being a Buhrley).  These are some of my favs...  Enjoy:)  Lots of love, Wendy

I LOVE NYC

I love NYC - I mean I really, really LOVE NYC!

We celebrated our anniversary a couple of weeks ago in this fabulous city. This was one of the best surprises my sweetie has pulled off. Here's how it went down... I was in Idaho on our actual anniversary. I spent that day with Mom B. at BYU education week - loved it! Dave was in Arizona. He called me during the day and told me that there were a couple of things that I needed to look at in my email when I got home that night. There were 2 emails from Dave. The first one said: "Happy Anniversary. You're the best thing that ever happened to me. Lets go find Delilah. I love you forever. Dave" There was also the link to the video "Hey there Delilah", you know, by Plain White T's. Love that song! Hmmm..... :) I was afraid to guess... The next email was from Jet Blue - 2 airline tickets, 5 days in NYC! (And amazing babysitters all arranged too: mom and dad B. flying down to keep the kids!!) AND... we were going with the Sabeys, our dear friends from dental school days in Birmingham - WOO-HOO!!! Love them so much! I was so SURPRISED! (especially since we spent 10 days on my dream vacation in the Mediterranean in May - one of these days I'll post the pictures - there are TONS - I am working on an imovie - stay tuned).

(Seriously babe, you blew me away!)

We had a wonderful, super FUN trip! We saw and did tons: Wall Street, Federal Hall, Time Square, Ground Zero, went up inside the Statue of Liberty, toured Ellis Island, saw Phantom of the Opera, Little Italy (mmmmm), China Town, saw Mary Poppins, walked the Brooklyn Bridge, watched BYU's awesome victory at the ESPN zone in Time Square, desserts at Serendipity (yummy), went to church in the Manhattan temple building, ate at Tavern on the Green, Grand Central Station, top of the Empire State Building, cheesecake at Juniors (yummiest!), US Open (saw Oudin and Federer play and win - saw Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban), Yankees game, The Met, and biked Central Park. It was a blast!

So here are the highlights - I made a little slide show (under the video heading) but thought I would put the pics in an album too. I am still trying to decide if I like the quality of the slide shows - I have been experimenting with different formats - think I might need to purchase the HD subscription through Shutterfly to increase the video quality... Soaking Up the Last Drop of Summer Fun

Hi! It has been way too long since I have added new pictures - I know! Life has been busy, but full of wonderful and fun things! I am going to try to catch up a little and... I have started a blog in hopes that I can share my pics more regularly and link my newer albums from here - that way you can just check out the blog or if you want all the details (more pictures) you can check out the posted album here - we'll see how I do :)

So... We ended a wonderful summer with a trip up to Utah and Idaho Falls. Dave drove the kids and I out. We spent a fun Pioneer day (24th of July) in Spanish Fork with lots of my family there. We had yummy food, fantastic company, rode horses, went to a carnival and ended a perfect day with the Spanish Fork Rodeo and fireworks. We drove up to Idaho Falls the next day and attended a fun celebration there with Dave's parents. We spent a fun and relaxing weekend together before Dave flew back to AZ Moday evening. The kids and I stayed and played for the next two weeks. Dave rejoined us in Utah the next week on Friday. We spent a couple of days with our dear friends, the Sabeys, and then drove home the day before school was to begin again. Nothing like squeezing in every last drop of Summer fun! So... here are tons of pictures - I always have a hard time whittling it down. Love you all! --Wendy

A Very Merry Christmas

Hi! I hope that you all had a wonderful Christmas and New Year's! We had an extra special Christmas time this year because we were lucky enough to have BOTH Grandma and Grandpa Buhrley here from Idaho and Grandma and Grandpa Osborne here from Tennessee! It was fabulous and we loved every minute of it! The kids were SUPER excited and had SO MUCH FUN! As usual we took many, many pictures (thousands-between the grandpa's and myself - although really Grandpa Buhrley took thousands on his own :). I picked out some of my fav's to share (don't worry I narrowed it down to around 150- I know... still a lot). It really was a magical holiday filled with wonderful traditions, memories, and family. Who could ask for more?

Also, it's been a while since I have shared pictures so I am also adding an album with Halloween pictures and some other random pictures as well as our Fall Break trip to Mexico. You can slide show (my favorite way to view them) through any of the albums including the beach photo shoot by double clicking on a picture and then selecting slideshow. This will give you the largest view of the pictures, or you can simply look at the thumb nails and get the gist of us! Our ward did "A Night in Bethlehem" this year for the Christmas party. It was amazing! We all had to dress up. Dave and I had costumes that my mom made when we were Joseph and Mary a few years ago. Luke's is a dress up and the others are some things from my aunts dress up box. I had been wanting to sew costumes for the kids for a few years now and was planning on finally doing it until all of our crazy home improvements/repairs had us out of our home for 10 days :( Maybe I'll sew next year!

Luke was so facinated by the Christmas tree this year. There were a couple of ornaments that he especially loved. One was this cute Charlie Brown ornament that lights up when you push a button and tells the Christmas story in a sweet little 30 second summary ending with "and that's what Christmas is all about Charlie Brown." I think it is everyone's favorite but especially Luke's.

December is so busy with Christmas and two boy's birthdays all within 10 days that sadly my birthday cakes are not that cute or creative. Luckily, my boys don't even mind! It was fun teaching Luke how to blow out the candles. So much fun, I think we re-lit them 4 or 5 times!

Luke's other fascination was with the glass icicles that hung on the tree. It cracked us up because he kept going over and sucking on them like they were real. (But living in AZ how would he know what icicles even are?) Amazingly I don't think we lost any ornaments to this curious little boy (unlike last year when he kept throwing all of the glass balls expecting them to bounce!)

Grandpa O. and the boys have enjoyed collecting state quarters and other cool coins for several years now. This year Grandpa O. ordered this special ongoing collection of presidential minted coins for each of the boys. They were SOOO EXCITED. I love it! Such a cool thing for them all to do together!

On Christmas Eve we also enjoyed a special piano concert by the boys! They did wonderfully at their Christmas recital this year. Zac's piece was a very complicated and beautiful version of Silent Night. It gives me chills and makes me tear up every time I hear him play it. He is so amazingly talented. He even played it as a special musical number in sacrament meeting.

This was my favorite gift to give this year. It was such an amazing experience having Mark take our family pictures, getting to know him and being uplifted and inspired by this incredible life-changing project. One of my very favorite nights of this Christmas season was the night we went to the Mesa Art Center to view the exhibit again and listen to beautiful music from performers on the CD. It was an amazing night and I felt the true CHRISTmas spirit.

"The Pirate House"
This is one of our neighbor's who goes all out for Halloween. It is very cool! They spend days turning the front of the home into a giant pirate ship with sails and everything. Then the trick-or-treaters get to walk through the "ship" and receive gold coins and meet the awesome pirates. It draws tons of people and is the highlight of trick-or-treating!

Yes, we are a little casual for church, but we didn't really feel out of place in Mexico. (We weren't sure if we would be able to attend - according to the online meeting house locator there was not one close but it turned out there was a chapel in town and they even had two meeting times! ) It was an interesting experience, especially since it was fast and testimony meeting :)

These sweet girls made my birthday so amazingly wonderful! We had a yummy birthday breakfast complete with banners and streamers - all put together while I slept! We attend church (all in Spanish), watched movies, had a delicious ham dinner ending with the yummiest ice cream ever! We went out to Cholla Bay and found sand dollars and ended the night playing games. What a great day. a great trip, and the BEST friends!

My favorite day of our little trip was this day! We took a 3 hour ferry ride from Seattle to Victoria BC Canada. After a very entertaining bus tour of the city, we spent a few hours touring the famous Butchart Gardens. Truly AMAZING!

The bishopric wives, my fun friends Angie and Judith and I, performed to The Dancing Queen. We had a blast! My boys, Dave, Josh, and Zac also had amazing performances that night with Syncronized Swimming, The Napolian Dynamite Dance, and "The Entertainer" on the piano followed by a slide across the floor.
