Comerosa Kids and Mother's Day Pool Day
On Friday after work, EE came by and picked up GMAC and Grace and took them to Comerosa for the weekend. Along with Ellen and Cade, they went to a festival in Belterra, complete with jumpy houses and three trucks! They had a blast! And Mommy and Daddy just caught up on their rest and slept most of Saturday.
EE and GP brought the excited kids back home at noon on Sunday for Mothers Day. We exchanged gifts, it was good to have them back home with us. Some friends in Circle C invited us over to swim in the new pool that just opened last weekend. It was really nice of them to invite us there, since they don't have children and this pool is just for children. However, there are 10 minutes every hour that the adults have to swim in the pool and even the water slide. So if there is a full line of kids, you just walk right past them and go down as many times as you like, just as Daddy did over and over again!
Land Ho!, Cinco De Mayo, Jake's 4th BDay Party
It was a busy weekend, lot's and lot's of fun!!!
On Thursday night, Daddy, Uncle Tommy, and two friends went to the Frank Erwin Center to see Roger Water's perform Pink Floyd's The Wall Live!! They had seen it in 2010 and to everyone's delight, it was returning again, but to Austin. Tickets were purchased over 6 months ago and the anticipation for the night's event was palpable. The show was incredible to say the very least. Please read more
here.
On Friday, Mommy and Daddy took GMAC and Grace to Goo Goo's so that we could pick up Nanny and Harrold and drive them to Gracy Title, where we purchased Spring Valley Road Austin, TX 78737 from my grandmother. She and my late-grandfather have owned the land for over 37 years. They bought it from a man for the price of his late taxes. We bought it with the intention of building a future home on the site for our family. We are extremely excited about this great opportunity for our little family. Without the utter generosity of my grandmother, we would never ever had the chance like this to build our own dream home. We owe my grandmother, as well as my grandfather, and all of my family for a lot of what we have today. Without them, Daddy would not have gotten the education that he did, that allows him to help provide for the family today, nor the first house that he bought and continues to provide income for us today. Thank you Nanny.
That night, we celebrated with a terrific 1 1/2 inch grilled steak dinner with The Houlton's!! Daddy's friend, Phillip, made a surprise visit from where he will be stationed with the Coast Guard in New Orleans for more than 9 months. It was a treat to have Daddy's buddy in town and spend some good quality time with him. And the steaks were easily the very best that we have had in probably an entire year or more, what a celebration!
On Cinco de Mayo, we really celebrated. First, we went to the
Violet Crown Festival at a park in North Austin. GMAC and Grace had a wonderful time. They both created spinning painting artwork on CD/DVDs. And Mommy made them bead bracelets. It was hot so we decided to go swimming. We stopped at a new location of
East Side Pies for some yummy Pizza pockets, then off to Goo Goo's pool to cool off! Phillip, Kat, and Lee joined us for their first time in the pool. It was still very sunny, but such a relief from a 90+ day in the heat. Then it was off to
Maudie's Hacienda where both of our families enjoyed some of the best Tex-Mex that we have had in a very long time. And the Margaritas were enjoyable, too! Mommy seemed to know everybody there, seriously. All of her patient and friends would greet us, seems like everybody thought going to eat Mexican food today was a bueno idea! The Houlton's came by our house afterwards from a night cap and to plan Mommy and Daddy's summer trip with Kat to visit Phillip back in New Orleans. That night of the
Supermoon, a great storm came in the night that woke Grace up and even Daddy. Daddy brought her to bed, but stayed up a little while to enjoy the spectacular lighting show! Along with the thunder, wind, rain, and hail, it was a sight to behold, even if it were in the wee hours of the morning.
On Sunday, we went to Jake's 4th BDay Party at jumpy place. GMAC and Grace had a great time, of course. And GMAC had to, just had to sit next to his buddy Jake, while he was eating his BDay cake. It was so cute!! It was great to see all of the kids from Miss Toni's class there and find out about all the little siblings that would be joining their class in August. Afterwards, we met our favorite photographer, Carley with
Cherry Blossom Photography. We took a leisurely stroll down the very trendy South Congress, it was really a lot of fun. And the sights, old brick buildings, storefronts, and street views will make for very pretty pictures. We went past some grandiose new fancy burger place that had a line stretched out and around the front of the building, but it was off to a great greasy
Dan's Hamburgers for us. Mmm, finger lickin' good!
Comerosa Weekend and Wiener Dog Races
EE picked GMAC and Grace up early on Friday and took them home for the weekend. For fun filled days and pizza eating nights! We called to check on them, but they were always having too much fun to talk too long on the phone.
Daddy volunteered for his Ducks Unlimited chapter at the
Wiener Dog Races in Buda, TX. Mommy went to Blanco for Mia's BDay Party.
We picked up GMAC and Grace from Comerosa before going to OHUMC Church on Sunday. Then we went home and relaxed for the rest of the day. Daddy and GMAC rode the bike to the park. Mommy and Grace went to the grocery store. We met back at the house and grilled tri tip while the kids played in the new pool with slide.
Old Settlers Music Festival and Brecks 5th BDay Party
We had a full weekend. Daddy was volunteering again at the Old
Settlers Music Festival, from Thursday through Sunday. And camping many of those days.
It was the best year yet at the 25th Annual
Old Settlers Music Festival in Driftwood, Texas! This was my fifth year to volunteer at the festival with the Watering Hole Crew. I was able to camp out for tow nights and even bring the family out for Saturday and again at the campgrounds on Sunday. I was able to see some great musicians and eat some great BBQ! OSMF is located at the
Salt Lick Pavilion and camping at
Camp Ben McCulloch.
On Saturday, Daddy took GMAC and Grace with him to OSMF. Mommy was at a big sale that day, getting all kinds of things for the little ones. Mommy met with everybody later in the day and brought a Mike the Knight dress up costume for GMAC, which he promptly insisted on putting on. We all went swimming in Onion Creek together, some even in their skimmies. The water felt great. Daddy and GMAC skipped flat rocks and went for swims underwater. This was our first time swimming this year, and Grace took to it like a fish and cried when we got out. GMAC again put on his costume, complete with boots, pants, suit with hoodie, chest plate, and helmet. We ventured across the street and went in to get a spot under a shade tree, take in some music, fresh squeezed lemonade, and great BBQ! Grace fell into a nap and GMAC went to the Jumpy Houses and Petting Zoos. We couldn't walk 20 feet without people talking and taking picture of the little Knight at the Festival!
On Sunday, we all went to Breck's 5th Birthday party at his grandparents place on 1826. It was a monster party. It was great, all of the kids were dressed up as spooky scarey monsters!! Most of Miss Toni's class were there and gobbling down the candy and other treats. GMAC was dressed as a skeleton and wearing his General Grievous mask (from Star Wars Ep. 1?) and Grace was Bizarro Supergirl. Afterwards, we ventured back to the campgrounds at Camp Ben and got right back into the creek for another swim. We closed out the evening eating a BBQ dinner outside listening to music at the Salt Lick. It was a great weekend!
Breck
Autumns 2nd Birthday and Daddy Sick Eye
Daddy hurt is eye this week, so he has not able to go with Uncle Cary to NASCAR and camping in Ft. Worth this weekend. He hung around the house, head low, avoiding light, and nursing his eye.
Mommy took GMAC and Grace to a Forever 31 Open House Party at Miss Kat's and the kids were able to play with Lee.
On Saturday, Mommy took GMAC and Grace to Autumn's 2nd Birthday Party. That little navajo is cute as a button and getting bigger! The kids had a great time and come home all wound up.
Nietsche Reunion & Easter Weekend
Miss Toni's Fun Learning Center's Annual Easter Egg Hunt at the Park on Escarpment was a great time! All of the children in the class, including GMAC and Grace found so many Easter eggs. Then Miss Toni even put together her own basket and gave it out to he kids. Goo Goo, Papa Terry, and EE showed up to see the kidos run amuck.
The first Annual Nietsche Reunion was a complete success with a turnout of over 40 people. Micheal, Stephen and others did a wonderful job organizing this event. A BBQ smoker grill burgers the entire time, there was a ton of food! The Easter Egg hunt was a blast for the many children and adults alike! And EE provided some history on the Nietsche/Nietche split/divide and debate. Here are some
photos from the event.
On Sunday after Easter Service at OHUMC, we went to EE and GPs house for Easter Sunday at Comerosa. It didn't take much time for the kids to want to hunt for the Easter Eggs that the Easter Bunny hid. GMAC, Grace, and Cade filled up their baskets then dug into them to eat the tasty candy. Then it was dinner time, with Ham, rolls, and all sorts of food and desserts. With nap times and visiting and a trip across the street to visit the Koenning house, then we went home and put the kids down to their "Ummy" dreams.
Ranger RIP
It has been one year since our good Ranger dog left us to go live with Jesus. Mommy took GMAC and Grace to the Pet Cemetery at Comerosa to put mushrooms (Ranger's favorite) on his resting place with his stacked rocks and white wooded painted cross to mark his spot on the big oak tree.
We miss you Ranger.
Tate 3rd BDay Party and Visit Friends New Home
Jenny took GMAC and Grace to Tate's 3rd Birthday party at Cabella's in Buda on Saturday. It was a great time seeing little Tater Tot Turn Three!!! With his big fish cake and all of his friends there. Complete with a full scavenger hunt throughout the enormous store, viewing of the aquarium and all of the stuffed animals, all of the kids were amazed!
On Saturday, after Palm Sunday at OHUMC, Daddy took GMAC and Grace to visit Lily and some friends in their brand new home they had built in Buda. It is a beautiful home, that somehow they have managed to already decorate and start doing work on in the short month's time that they have been there... We ate some delicious flame grilled cheese burgers!! Mommy was able to join us after her surprise Birthday Party for her friend Jordan.
Inflatable Play and Cary BDay BBQ Weekend
Mommy did a lot with GMAC and Grace Saturday while Daddy was working. Daddy switched with Mommy and the kids at Inflatable Play. They had a lot of fun. GMAC was dressed up as the Transformer, Optimus Prime. And Grace was totting around a stuffed cat from the play Vet Clinic. We went home and had a great taco dinner, courtesy of Mami-san (as Grace has begun referring to Mommy as...)
On Sunday morning, Mommy took GMAC and Grace to Oak Hill United Methodist Church while Daddy helped Uncle Cary work at the condos. Then it was off the Uncle Cary's Birthday BBQ Dinner Lunch at Harry and Ellen's house. There were many candles for Cary and the 3 kids to blow out, but they did it, hopefully Cary will get his wish! Brittney's belly was budding a little bit with the new baby girl. The kids had fun running around, riding the toy Jeep, and rides with Cory on the riding lawn mower. It was a great day!
Spring Break, SXSW, and Garage Sale
GMAC and Grace were out of school this week from Miss Toni's Fun Learning Center. Jenny took off work and she played, taught, and entertained them all week. She had different activities, play dates, and fun planned for them. Consisting of, but not limited to, taking them to Nutty Brown Cafe for a little children's festival, the library...
Mommy, Goo Goo, and GMAC escorted Grace to her first move, "The Wizard of Oz" at the Alamo Drafthouse. They both sat through the entire film!! And came home talking all about the Wicked Witch of the West!
EE picked up GMAC and Grace on Friday night, so that Mommy and Goo Goo could have a Garage Sale at Redleaf. Lot's of stuff was sold for some money.
Daddy did not do any volunteer work for SXSW this year, but was plenty busy enjoying it, along with other work duties.
If You Give A Mouse A Cookie and Comerosa Dinner
We took GMAC and Grace to see a theatrical play version of the widely popular Children's book, "If You Give A Mouse A Cookie" - written by Laura Joffe Numeroff and illustrated by Felicia Bond. The book has been adapted to an onstage performance from a handful of characters and props. Mostly between the boy and the mouse. We attended an early morning showing at the ZACH Scott Theatre on a rainy day. We arrived early, the kids were on there best behavior awaiting to be seated. The show was announced and we found our seats. There was not a bad seat in the house, as it was in the round. GMAC and Grace did great, they sat through the entire 1 hour performance without wishing to leave, potty, or any other distractions. Grace didn't know what to think for about the first 20 or so minutes as she looked as if she could just cry at any moment, but then she started to laugh outloud saying "That mouse is funny!" The boy even sat down on the steps next to us and said a line directly to Grace, which made her very happy. At the end of the performance, both GMAC and Grace were the first kids to go up to the boy and mouse actors for hugs and photos!
On Sunday, after missing church due to not setting our clocks after daylight savings the night before we all went out to Comerosa for an early dinner, prepared by EE. Ham, mashed potatoes, salad, and rolls, It was wonderful, like Thanksgiving in March!
Children's Campout at the Lake
This Saturday, we went up to the lake and held a Children's Campout with the help of Miss Kat. We got there before dark so that we could set up our tents and prepare for the night ahead. EE and GP came up to help, too.
We had a count of 18 children in all. They were all very good and had a great time that night. We cooked hotdogs, had chips and sodas. And played many games and even had a campfire, complete with acoustic bass guitar playing.
Kat slept with them in the clubhouse, while Mommy, Daddy, GMAC, and Grace slept out in a tent on the edge of a hill by the water. The temperatures got down to almost below freezing, but we brought a heater from home and with an air mattress if felt almost as good as sleeping at home.
We awoke the next day to Kat making pancakes, mmm good!! Despite Jenny getting side later in the week, GMAC having a cough, and Graces voice a little raspy, our first camping trip as a family was a total success and look forward to doing it again sooner than later.
Fajitas Dinner
Phillip leaving for New Orleans for 7 months, had him and his family over for dinner. GMAC and Grace played well with their little buddy Lee. And Daddy and Phillip got to bond one last time before he left for his long assignment. Will see him again on a planned trip down there for my Birthday in mid-July.
It's A Girl - Baby Yarosh!!
!!It's A Girl!!
Today was the day that we found out. The Yarosh's went to the hospital today and had the doctors put the sex of the new baby into a manila envelope. Everybody was so excited for them all day and calling to beg them to open it early. But they resolved to open it up together with Cade as a family that night.
And...
It's A Girl!!
They called us and we all gathered around the phone. Uncle Cary asked us all to weigh in with our thoughts on what we thought it might be. Daddy said "Boy". Momy said "Boy". GMAC said "Boy". And Grace was the one stand-out with "Giiirl".
Grace was right! When they said "Girl" over the phone, Grace jumped up and down, "Gir, girl, girl", "I win, I win". She was happy to have another little girl. GMAC cried and said he wanted a boy, but I know that soon enough he was be excited as we all are now, with the new Baby Yarosh Girl who is on her way!!
GMAC and Grace at Comerosa
GMAC and Grace stayed with EE and GP at Comerosa on Saturday and most of Sunday. They all went to Patrick's and Karen's joint Birthday Party!
GMAC on Bike with Training Wheels
Jenny spent some good times with the kids this weekend and had a playdate with Willie at Cora Lee's house.
On Sunday, Daddy encouraged GMAC to ride the bike with training wheels on it, that was given to us a few weeks ago. He had previously only rode the bike the length of half of the living room, maybe 5 feet. But today, I had him do a lap around the fireplace from the living room around to the den and back. Trying to get him to do 5 laps and thinking that would be it. However, he insisted on 100 laps, almost unthinkable, but he upped the ante and said 113!! Mommy, Daddy, and Grace cheered him on as he got to 10, 20, 30, 40, 50, he is half way there!! 60, 70, he started getting tired and his interest was waning as Grace and Mommy played with Legos on the floor. At this point he questioned his devotion to his goal, but we helped him keep his eyes on the prize. M&M's were employed as a motivator as he could get one upon the successful completion of each lap. However, by 80, he said "I changed my mind, I don't want to ride anymore". At 90, "It is boring", but we amped up the excitement enough to get him on the final 10 laps. 100!!
We celebrated with a party, just like Mommy's race, the Rock and Roll Marathon in San Antonio, complete with a CD of Motley Crue karoke with Daddy. GMAC gladly gave some victory laps for the final 13, 113 in total! Mission accomplished!!!
In the afternoon, we all went up to the Westgate Lanes Bowling ally by our neighborhood. EE, GP, and Cade And Brittney, and Cary joined us as well. Grace, even though bowling was her idea. We all did very well today, Mommy, Daddy, GMAC rolled the especially well today, much harder and faster then the 2.8 avg. mph that he did last time. Cade was a good listener and took Uncle Matt's instructions on putting the 6lb. ball between his legs and giving it a good heave-ho shove down the lane.
After naptime, GMAC awoke early, and as planned after the big race, we went to go ride bikes outside. Either up or down the street, we decided to go up the slight hill then onto the flatter part of Redleaf Lane. With a little push start we were on our way. Thinking we could just get as far as his buddy Owen's house at the end of the street. We encountered a street gang of kids and GMAC was excited to continue on. It was a struggle to keep him near the curb and out of the middle of the street. Although there was not much traffic on this very brisk Sunday afternoon, so we were lucky in that respect. Daddy riding his 80's freestyle bike, jumped one of the road humps. And GMAC had to follow suit. Up the hump, then down, oops he fell down. I told him to dusty himself off and get back up and get back in the saddle, which he did without crying or anything. Down the hill and one other nasty spill, but he took me literally and did exactly as I said about dusting himself off. We rounded the corner and with a little guidance made it all the way to Granny's house!! He was so proud of himself and sat on his bike at her front door awaiting the positive affirmation, but they were not home. GMAC wanted to ride back home, so we did, the entire way back on the sidewalks! After warming up at home, we went back out side and did another block. He is now begging Daddy to take off his training wheels, keep it up kid and we can remove them soon!
Comerosa Kids Weekend and Super Bowl
Mom picked up GMAC and Grace on Friday and took them up to Comerosa to spend the night. After buying the traditional Pizza, Pizza, of which Grace was excited about, but GMAC was just interested in Chicken Nuggets. Mom told me that she awoke in the night, on the couch, being shoved off of the bed by GMAC, Dad bear snoring while hugging Grace. GMAC was saying "Jack took my spot" over and over again. She ran to the bed and Jack, the dog, had come up from his burrows under the covers to sleep on the pillow, the spot where GMAC usually sleeps. GMAC was not happy about this and Jack was sent to his bed on the floor.
It was sad to find out that Shelby dog went to Doggie heaven today. Everybody is very sad to see such a great dog go.
Sunday, after Church, Mommy and Daddy donated blood to the Central Texas Blood Bank, as they parked the colorful bus at the Oak Hill United Methodist Church. The kids loved it because they got to eat all of the cookies, snacks, and fruit punch normally reserved for the weary patients.
Then we took GMAC and Grace to a Super Bowl Party at Paul and Amy's house, as their last party before they move. It was a great party, great food, brisket and fresh wild pork. Unfortunately we had to leave early. But when we got home, GMAC stayed up late with Daddy and finished watching the big football game. It was a great day.
Cade's 3rd Birthday Party
This weekend was full of new surprises and happenings for the Comers. There is a lot in the works right now and we are all busy little bees. More news coming soon.
Saturday was the big day. Cade's 3rd Birthday Party at Harry and Ellen Yarosh's beautiful home! We got there a little late, but as soon as we did, there was Mr. Cade going tee tee in the front yard. He was very excited to see the very happy GMAC, but very distraught Grace. The kids took to running around the party, chasing each other and being wild. Just being kids and having a great time. It was nice to visit with all of the family that gathered for the big day. But none as much as seeing the smile on Cade's little face as he was about to blow out all 3 of his candles.
The rest of the day was spent wrapping some business up together as a family, then off to Costco which has become the norm. All in all it was a great weekend and good things to come.
Jumpy Place Weekend
Well, not too much happened this weekend. Although, Jenny, GMAC and Grace met some friends at the Jumpy Place in Kyle. They all reportedly had a jumping good time!
Mommy and Daddy have been very busy working on some things for the family.
GMAC said something to Daddy this week when he was putting him down for bed. The conversation went something like this.
GMAC - "In Hot Lava."
Daddy - "In Hot Lava? How do you know about Hot Lava?"
GMAC - "Breck say that. Hot Laba. Hot Laba."
Daddy - "It's Lava, Honey. Not Laba. LaVVVVa, not LaBBBBa. VVVV, not BBBB, Hot Lava. Daddy knows all about Hot Lava."
GMAC - "And Everything!"
Daddy - "Everything?"
GMAC - "You know about everything. You are the best Daddy in the world."
OMG, my heart sank and I couldn't help but tear up. And told him that this was the sweetest thing he could have ever told me.
He ended up saying it 4 more times and that "Yoda was the Best Yoda in the World", but I was still the proudest Daddy in the world!!
Lee Sleepover, Reagan 3rd BDay Party, and Sleepover At Cades
On Friday night, Lee and Phillip came over to have a sleepover with GMAC and Grace. We enjoyed the night together while Kathryn, Dawn, Jenny, and others enjoyed a Forever 31 party at Kat's house. We fell asleep early, but it was a fun filled night.
On Saturday, after Kat brought over breakfast tacos and Phillip helped Daddy replace the front brakes on his truck, we all went to Reagan 3rd BDay Party. It was a great baseball themed party. And GMAC did it again, 'helped' Reagan open all of his gifts, oh my. It was fun.
After naptime, EE and GP picked up GMAC and Grace for a Sleepover At Cade's House. They all enjoyed the night together and slept together in one big room, I am sure they had a great time a their first sleepover with Cade!!
Ice Skating, Picnic, and Sight Seeing and OHUMH New Church Building
On Saturday we went on our annual Ice Skating at Whole Foods in downtown Austin. We met EE, GP, Aunt B., Uncle Cary, and Cade there. Everybody skated but all the gals, except for my baby Grace, who is going to be a ballerina ice figure skater!! Then we had a picnic at the park on the top of the store, it was really nice, with fajitas! Afterwards we went over to the new Butler park South of the river on Riverside to climb the hill and take in the view of the growing downtown Austin and all her buildings! Then to Sandies for a frosted chocolate dipped ice cream cone to share with the sleepy GMAC and Grace!
Sunday morning we went to church. To our delight, the new children's building that everybody has been helping to build has been completed and is having the grand opening today! It is big and beautiful. GMAC and Grace run around enjoying all of the open space, new playground, maze, cookies, and treats. They stay in their new room while Mommy and Daddy go to church services. We love the new building at Oak Hill United Methodist Church.
New Years Eve Party and New Years Day
Jenny and Matt decided to host a New Years Eve party at their home on Redleaf. It was a great time, starting at 9:00 and running through to 2012. AQll of our friends and some family were able to make it out and ring in the New Year with the Comers! It was great to see and have everybody over to our home, we thought that the party went very well and everybody had a good time and were safe. Thank you to all of our friends and family for helping us celebrate 2012 together!
GMAC and Grace stayed with EE and GP and celebrated the New Year by shooting off fireworks with Uncle Tommy. GMAC even stayed up until 10 minutes to midnight!!
On New Years Day, after cleaning up the mess left after the party, we were able to go out to Comerosa for the Annual New Years party to eat black eyed peas, venison, and other yummy food! Topping off the night with fireworks with Uncle Tommy, then over to Phillip's house for a night cap.
Happy New Year, happy 2012 to all of our family and friends!
Holday Week with the Family
Jenny was off of work this week, as were GMAC and Grace. They played and did things all week. We went to the park and took some family photos for our holiday Christmas cards. We didn't get any out before Christmas, so we thought we could send New Year cards to all of our family and friends. We got lot's of great photos, but the best was a candid funny shot that we ended up using.
On Wednesday, we went to a friends house for lunch. It was such a nice time with a sandwich platter and great company. It is friends that we do not see often, so it was great to visit them and see their home. It was beautiful. And soon to be a kids wonderland!! Full of games, trains, and toys! They have casino style games hung on the wall. And a really cool Star Wars pinball type of gambling game, too!! They were way way too nice and thought to give our children gifts. I don't know how, but Peter is a Jedi and somehow guessed exactly correctly what both kids loved most and the ONLY item each asked of Santa for Christmas this year, an 'ummy' rabbit and a firetruck for Grace and GMAC, WOW!! Thank you for good friends and welcome or extending friendship with new friends!
On Thursday, Jenny took the kids to San Antonio to visit with her friends and exchange gifts, everybody came back worn out and Jenny even sick. She came down with Strep throat. She rested that night.
On Friday, after Jenny returned from the doctors office, she rested for the remainder of the day. Daddy took GMAC and Grace over to Mike's house for a lunchtime swim in his indoor heated pool! That night, Mommy stayed home, but Daddy took GMAC and Grace to a friends house for authentic spaghetti dinner!! The family shared recent photos, videos, and stories from their recent sailing trip to BVI, WOW! Someday, I would love to do this with the children, what a eye opening experience for all!
Christmas and Christmas Eve
On Christmas Eve we went to the Oak Hill United Methodist Church where we have been going as a family for about three years now. It was a beautiful 5:00 Christmas worship service. GMAC donned a little sheppard's clothes and head dress. He did so well walking up there and standing throughout the long service, like such a big boy.
On Christmas Morning, we all woke up to the surprise of what Santa brought the night before!! So many toys and gifts for the kids. The kids were all wide eyed and surprised with all of the gifts and toys that Mommy, Daddy, family, and Santa brought to them. An 'ummy' rabbit for Grace and a fire truck for GMAC! And Daddy got a 60 inch plasma TV!!
Also, we secretly caught Santa Claus on video!!
Then Goo Goo and Papa Terry came over and even more gifts were exchanged. Whoa, lot's of gifts!! Goo Goo gave soo soo much!!
Then off to Aunt Barbara's house after nap time to have Christmas Dinner and exchange more gifts with the family. What a wonderful day.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year from The Comers!
Jenny's Office Holiday Party, Miss Toni's Christmas Program, and Grace's Frosty BDay Party
On Friday, Jenny and Daddy went to her Offices Annual Holiday Party. This year it was held at Gumbo's at the Galleria. The food and company were so good! The coworkers exchanged gifts, then it was time to surprise the Dr. with a very special gift. Daddy presented the gift wearing a rented Snowman costume. Everybody was so tickled and wished everybody a very Merry Christmas!
After leaving the Holiday Party, we hurried to Miss Toni's Christmas Program to see GMAC and Grace perform their parts along with all of their other fellow classmates. GMAC wanted the part of 'his favorite' Rudolf the Red Nosed Reindeer, but was consoled with being another reindeer, but we didn't tell him that as he thought that he was the Rudolf. He started the play off with his standard "Ready, Set, Go" and sang the Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer twice while the others where in reindeer costumes. Grace danced in a Frosty the Snowman costume while the others sang the song. At one point GMAC twirled around so many times that he got dizzy and disoriented and then fell right off of the stage and onto the floor. It was histerical!! There were so many other great moments in the program from so many talented children. It was a delight to witness these special children. Then afterwards, Santa made an appearance and gave all of the children special gifts. Then there was even a special appearance by the one and only Frosty the Snowman!!
Grace's 2nd Birthday Frosty Party!! On Saturday, all of Grace's little friends came out to celebrate our little girl turning two years old. When EE and GP brought GMAC and Grace home, after spending the night so that Jenny and Daddy could ready the house. Grace walked into the party, just barely underway, with amazement, astonishment, and utter excitement. The house looked like a Winter Wonderland, snowflakes falling from the ceiling, draping the entire house from hall, to living room, kitchen, and into the backyard. Now the party was ready to start, all of the children sat at the tables and worked on an arts and craft project to put together Frosty the Snowman. While everyone visited, the children ran from room to room and outside always caring armfuls of GMAC and Grace's toys. Time got away from the hosts, and we didn't get a chance do sing Happy Birthday to the special girl, until the party was almost over.
Uncle Cary donned a rented Frosty the Snowman costume, along with Mommy in a borrowed child snowman costume from Miss Toni, and made their entrance into the bustling den of our house. Frosty was carrying the beautiful Frosty the Snowman cake that Mommy handmade the night before. It was beautiful. Grace was sitting at her little tea party table looking the opposite direction at all of the smiling faces and adoring eyes. Not even realizing what was taking place behind here. When she finally realized that the Frosty the Snowman and Frosty's wife Crystal (played by Mommy) were behind her, she got so excited! Everybody sang Happy Birthday and brother GMAC helped her blow out the candles.
Seeing Family and Biscuit Brothers
We met Janna, Nick, McCarty and Starkey (yes of a little band named The Beatles fame). They have cousins Lennon and Harrison, too! We all ate at Chuy's North. Goo Goo and Papa Terry were there as well as Nicks mother. It was so great seeing and meeting family for the first time or for Jenny's sake, first time in a long time. It was so nice to meet them. Janna the oh so talented craft maker, made GMAC his very own framed GMAC sign!! And Grace a little toto!!
Then we went to A Wonderful Life festival at First Evangelical Free Church. It was a surprise to see EE, GP, and Cade there! We all made and sprinkled Christmas cookies, made our own Christmas tree ornaments, visited a petting zoo, got balloon art, got faces painted, played at the playground and of course say the amazing Biscuit Brothers and other great musicians.
On Sunday after the play at Church, we had a playdate with classmate from school. Both kids had a great time with the girls! It was fun to get to know the parents and see their beautiful home. Afterwards, we had dinner at the Houlton's while Phillip was frying many a chicken. Mmm, good!
Toni's Pajama Party, Santa on a Firetruck, Lee's 3rd BDay Party
Friday night was the Pajama Party at Miss Toni's Fun Learning Center. GMAC and Grace petitioned to go and spend the better part of the day and night with all of their friends. Jenny and I were able to meet in downtown Austin for a Happy Hour at Corazon at Castle Hill. It was nice to be together and enjoy some great food and drinks together. We were also able to take in a movie at home, and a late night snack all before pickup up the kids before 10:00 from the late night party.
On Saturday, Mommy took GMAC and Grace to, fellow school mate, Jasmine's 5th BDay Party. A Mad Scientist party, complete with a real scientist who performed many cool experiments. Later that day, we packed up and headed up to the lake for a special appearance from Santa Claus on a fire engine. The Pedernales Fire Department came out in force, Santa riding up on the side of a brush breaker, a special van, and a fire engine. Santa hugged all of the children, then came inside for a decked out winter room, complete with Christmas tree and Mrs. Claus. GMAC and Grace sat patiently at the feet of Santa. When he read out their names, they ran up to him and accepted the presents that he brought for them. GMAC a fire truck and Grace some stuffed animals. All of the children continued to play on the floor while the adults exchanged gifts in a game of White Elephant. Mommy even won a door prize, heck two in a row!! Then we went up to the cabin and slept for the night. The rain came late at night and it was so nice to hear the rain on a tin roof.
The next morning we woke up and grabbed some breakfast tacos from Grandpa's on Hwy 71 and Bee Creek Road, then ventured back home. After a rainy day nap we went to Lee's 3rd BDay party at Phillip and Kat's. The kids had a great time doing a dinosaur egg hunt!! Then we went home and put up the Christmas tree, it was a great weekend.
Thanksgiving, Freeman Ranch, Chuy's Thanksgiving Parade, and Hill Country Train "Polar Express" Ride
We were thankful for so much this year. Family, friends, jobs, house, so much. We are thankful for our little ones. We enjoyed spending Thanksgiving Day and Dinner at the Koenning's in Dripping Springs. Throwing the football and playing outside on one of the nicest days in a while. And the food, well the food... amazing!!
Daddy took GMAC with him and GP on Friday afternoon to go up to Granny Priss' Freeman Ranch for a weekend with the boys, working, playing, and hunting. We stopped at Inman's in Marble Falls for some great turkey sausage then a Triple meat jalapeno cheeseburger from Storms in Lampasas. GMAC had such a great time and was one of the boys helping being good and playing with Dax.
We were able to drill and install many poles in two very dry tanks for a future dock pier for fishing and enjoyment. Also, we setup a new deer stand blind over where I hunt next to C.B.'s old stand.
The only hunting that Daddy did was with Shay and Dax and we were unable to secure a pig. Daddy did take GMAC on his very first hunt the following morning, per his insistence after waking up that morning. We sat in the stand for oh, 2 minutes before he used a word that I have maybe only heard him say once before 'bored'. He said, let's go back to the house. I said, Why? And GMAC said, This boring, ha, fast learner, especially as there were no deer in sight. We left early for Austin so Cary could attend a farewell ceremony for Jon Mesiroff. Watch Video,,, at the 1 minute mark when the TV starts to talk... You will see little CADE running in the background. He picks himself off the ground then runs off. :)
http://www.kvue.com/news/400-soldiers--134567448.htmlDuring this time, Mommy took Grace to the Chuy's Thanksgiving Parade downtown. Photographers were a buzz snapping photos of that little girl in between all of the amazing floats =-).
On Sunday evening. Mommy, Daddy, and GMAC (Grace stayed home with EE) joined Aunt B. and Uncle Cary for a Hill Country Train "Polar Express" Ride! It was really nice going from Cedar Park to Burnet and back. Hot Chocolate, songs, stories, and a visit from Santa Clause. Two happy little boys.
Santa Photos
Today Mommy took GMAC and Grace to meet Aunt B. and Cousin Cade at Barton Creek Square Mall to take pictures at Pictures People for EE's Birthday today. After that they all went to ride the North Pole Train several times and took some
photos on Santa's lap.
Frosty The Snowman and BDay Bowling
Jenny took Grace to the Junior League Frosty the Snowman Luncheon at the Palmer Events Center on Friday with Aunt B. and Cade! Frosty is Grace's favorite person, book, song, TV show, everything right now. She runs around the house singing the theme song and repeating "Happy Birthday" as he does when we awakens in the cartoon. Grace will be having a Frosty themed Birthday party this year!!
Saturday and Sunday was mostly working around the house and doing little things gearing up for Daddy's 5 mandatory days off from work. Coinciding with Thanksgiving Holiday, this will be the longest time, even though not paid, that Daddy has been away from work in many years.
On Sunday, after Daddy returned from the lake we went bowling at Westgate Lanes for classmate Knox's Birthday! It was a great time by all of the many little kids. GMAC bowled all 10 frames, with an average of 3.5 mph. His slowest bowl was 1.7, wow, it almost stopped in front of the pins. Bust with the bumpers down it made the game much more enjoyable. Grace didn't fell much like bowling, but you could tell she was having fun with all of her classmates.
Touch A Truck and Rock 'n' Roll Marathon
This weekend we took the kids to Touch a Truck at an elementary school on Highway 360. It was a surprise, GMAC and Grace didn't know what we had planned until we pulled up and saw all of the vehicles and of course, the firetruck!!
Touch a Truck is really neat. The children had full access to all types of cars that were put on display in the parking lot. Buses - school bus, party bus, city bus, VW bus, limo, taxi cab, army trucks, jeeps, Humvee, Hummer, police vehicles, fire department vehicles, ABIA mock airplane float, scissor lift, concrete mixer, trash truck, street sweeper, RV camper, ice cream truck, Hey Cupcake truck... Oh my, the only thing was that kids were honking the horn in these large vehicles, whew...
On Sunday we went down to San Antonio to see Mommy run a half marathon and hand off her baton to her teammate, Johnny. Mommy did really good running with her friends, doing 10 minute miles for her 8 mile portion. Afterwards, a concert was held, where Vince Neil of Motley Crue performed. This was the first rock and roll concert that GMAC and Grace have attended, they are now Crue heads!
We then went to a celebratory lunch at Restaurant
La Hacienda de Los Barrios for Mexican food. A place where Jenny and I had gone with friends several years ago on New Years Eve. The food and puffy tacos were as good as we remembered. GMAC, Grace, and Uncle Tommy were on their best behavior.
Daddy at NASCAR
Daddy and Uncle Cary left Saturday to go to NASCAR with GJ in Dallas/Ft. Worth. It was a big weekend for the guys!
Jenny stayed home with the kids. They went and spent the night Saturday night at Comerosa with EE, Aunt B., and Cade. And even all went to church together Sunday morning!
Happy Halloween!
"Trick or Treat!!" The kids would mostly say, followed by "Thank you" to the hosts of their yummy candy!
Papaw Harry, Ellen, Goo Goo, Papa, Aunt B., Uncle Cary, Cousin Cade, and EE all assembled at the house for pictures and treats before we were off to terrorize the neighborhood. Joining other neighbors we went all the way to Nanny and Pop's, trick or treating the whole way! After visiting with Nanny and Pop, munching on candy, and staying up a little later than usual, we all made it home and got tucked in for the night. Except for Daddy, who stayed up and watched horror movies!
Halloween Weekend
Friday night was Game 7 of the world series. We watched Game 6 the night of Boo Da Fest which was a great game, but the Rangers lost. Well they lost the series tonight, but it was still a good game to see.
Saturday we went to the Barton Creek Mall and took family photos at Picture People. We got some good shots of the kids out of them and look for them soon here =-). After some early Christmas shopping and a Food Court lunch at Chick-fil-A.
We all got dress up again, GMAC and Daddy both as Spider-Man!! Grace as Woody from Toy Story. And Jenny again as that sexy black kitty cat!! We went to Onion Creek for the 2nd Annual Halloween Party at Shona and Mike Nietzsche's. We had a great time, but GMAC was out of his costume within the first 15 minutes of the party, just running around in his underwear. Then we stopped by Cora Lee's for a quick trick or treat!
Daddy and some friends went to a concert featuring Anthrax and other bands, dressing up in wigs as rockers and having a great night!
After a lazy Sunday, we joined the families on the top of Redleaf Lane, at the Ball's with the Kimmel's to carve pumpkins. All of the pumpkins looked amazing! And Jenny did such a great job on our tall pumpkin, making the man in the moon!
Boo-Da Halloween Fest in Buda
Boo-Da Halloween – October 27, 2011 – Downtown Buda
Downtown Buda serves as a safe and fun opportunity for children to trick-or-treat for Halloween and includes Halloween stories, crafts, games and more Halloween fun at the Buda Public Library and at all of the shops. We took GMAC and Grace and joined Aunt B, Cade, Harry, Cary Ann, and EE to our first ever Boo-Da Halloween in downtown Buda, Texas.
GMAC dressed up a fireman, of course!! Grace dressed up as a "meow-meow' kitty cat! Jenny dressed up as a sexy black cat! And Daddy donned the an oldie but goodie costume, an air fan inflated big person suit! Cade was wearing a little skeleton costume, to me he looked like the guys in the Karate Kid, ha! It was a great time and we must do this again next year as our new tradition rather than going to the Hill Country Galleria.
Yarosh Pumpkin Patch
EE and GP watched GMAC and Grace on Friday night so Jenny and I could prepare and setup for the big birthday party on Saturday. They were to watch Cade on Saturday, so GMAC and Grace joined them again that night.
This allowed Jenny and I to attend a Texas Book Festival Literary Pub Crawl. First we went to the Texas State Cemetery for a 'midnight' tour at 8:00. Armed with a flashlight we joined the mob through the moon lit tour of famous Texans. Following the tour, we went to the Scoot Inn to see Fight Club author, Chuck Palhunick, read from a story and bombard the crowd with his antics. We ran into some friends afterwards and went to East Side Pies for some very delicious pizza pie! This is the second time this week that I have been to East Side Pies, as James and I discovered it on Monday on our way to the Erwin Center for a Fire Relief Benefit concert for the families in Bastrop who lost everything in the fires a few weeks ago.
Sunday morning, we attended the early services at church, then went to Comerosa to pick up GMAC and Grace. Then we all went to the Yarosh's to visit Harry's Garden, one of the best little garden's and green thumbs that I have seen in the area. Papaw let the kids pick lot's of pumpkins to take home. Even a green one on GMAC's insistence. It was a great day and we are all looking forward to Halloween.
Garrett's 3rd Birthday Party!!!
Today was the big day that Jenny worked so hard for our little man. She has done something that I have never seen done. She got the Austin Fire Department (AFD) from Manchaca Road, Engine 20 to come out to our event! It was a surprise to everybody, as we requested everybody show up at 10:30AM, thirty minutes earlier than the stated 11:00AM on the invitation. Most people did arrive early and were shocked as not one, but two fire engines rolled down the street, and stopping at our little party.
To my little man, this is everything. Garrett is all sorts of things, a multitude of super heros, pirate, a police offices, and most recently a cowboy. But most of all, he is a fireman! Something he never deviates from. A phase it still may be, but it is what he loves more than anything else. So when 2 fire engines full of fire fighters rolled up to his party, his day was most certainly made. He is a happy kid. Today he was fun grins, ear to ear.
The party was held at our friend's Grande Oaks Park, which neighbors Whispering Oaks. It is a nice little park that we take the family to for a park, playscape, basketball, and trail. Today, we shared it with all of our family and friends. The weather could not have been better, as it has already changed in temperature and feels like fall. It was a beautiful day. All of our friends and family were able to join us on this special day, thirty or so in all. And most people honored the birthday boy by wearing his favorite color "Green", pronounced "Gheen." This was a Green Party!
After some light sandwiches and fire safety from the firemen, we gathered around the beautiful homemade Fire Truck birthday cake to sing Happy Birthday to Garrett. He had some trouble blowing out the candles, but he finally did, then it was off to running around and playing with his friends. Then it was pinata time! This was our first party to feature a fire truck and we were a bit apprehensive about the fire truck pinata, but the line of kids taking their turns to whack at the thing were not discouraged. When the candy poured out all of the kids crowded around and filled their little paper sacks and went off to devour their hard earned treats.
Two of the kind of helicopters with dual rotor blades flew over and Garrett knowing that Mommy had called in the firemen was sure that this was Uncle Traci doing a fly over!
Before anybody knew it, Garrett had slipped off to the table where all of the presents were stacked and began to quickly open each one as fast as he could. With little encouragement he ran to everybody who gave him a gift, hugged them or their leg and told them "Thank You."
Thank you Garrett, for you have so enriched our lives, we are so thankful and blessed to have you and Grace.
G3!!! Garrett Mikeal Anderson Comer Turns 3!~
My little boy turned 3 today!
He is such a big boy and he knows it and so very proud of that fact. As our we as so proud parents. He has done so much in his time that we are so proud of and that make him a big boy. He has been potty trained for over a year! That is huge! He can recite the entire alphabet, something that he does not do often, but he can do. He can count into the 30's on occasions. He speaks highly intelligible sentences, at least to his Mommy and Daddy =-). Anything that this child sets his mind to, he can most definitely do, and do well. He has just entered the time of "Why?". Everything is "why, why, why." Which is so great as he has such a hunger for knowledge.
As with any parent, we are so proud of or little babies, they are everything to us, our whole world, we love them beyond words. I thank the Lord for this family. Garrett has changed our lives. He and Grace truly mean the world world to his Mommy and Daddy. I just can't believe that it has already been 3 years. Time flies by in the blink of an eye. Everybody tells you so much, but when you have little ones as a gauge, a measuring stick, it is so much more evident. I wish to cherish each day with them all lovingly.
Before departing for school this morning a gift had arrived by mail and was placed at the door. It was a big big wrapped in packing paper. Garrett can also spell most of his rather long first name as well as pick out his letters, "G" and "tt" when written. He say this box, saw his name, and knew it was "for my birthday." We told him that he had to wait until after school and he could open the gift sent by his Uncle Traci in Florida.
After Miss Toni's today, in which further celebrations continued and more cake was consumed, GMAC came home where Goo Goo and Papa Terry were waiting with presents. Garrett tore into those and all others in sight, as well as Traci's and was in hog heaven playing with the fire station Legos that Goo Goo had gotten him. A torn out page of a magazine has hung on his wall next to his light for months of this in which we would proudly proclaim and ask of anybody to get him for his birthday. Now here it was in the flesh, along with a newly sewed blanket, another fire truck, and the monster tuck fire truck that he wanted so badly at H.E.B. when we were there last week when retrieving medicine for Grace.
We celebrated with a Double Dave's Pizza and Pizza Rolls dinner. Following dinner, we blew out his fire engine candles and ate cake! Let them eat cake, we are in hog heaven with these little piglets. =-)
GMAC 3rd Birthday Party with Miss Toni's Fun Learning Center at The Fire Station
Garrett and his class at Miss Toni's Fun Learning Center celebrated his 3rd Birthday together at the Circle C Fire Station. Jenny took GMAC and Grace to school a little late today as everybody met at the Circle C Fire Station to start school this Monday morning. This is becoming a tradition, as we celebrated the same way last year. Unfortunately, I was unable to attend this year, but Jenny did and took lots of photos. All of the kids, including Grace, had a wonderful time looking at the Fire Engines, Fire Trucks, and as GMAC recently correctly me "Arial Ladder Truck"s. Hearing the fire fighters instruct them about smoke detectors and fire safety. Then it was time for blowing out the birthday candle and eating cup cakes. My little boy had a great time, as firemen and fire engines are all that he talks about! =-)
Grace Sick and Lazy Weekend
Friday night we met the Houltons at South Park Meadows for a band playing Pink Floyd. They were so good! They really hit all of the songs just right! I saw friends, Brian and Steve, there as well, both enjoying the great tunes! Parents and kids loved it alike. It is such a nice area to take the kids and let them run around and play on the huge playscape and a play area with all of the many other kids, while the parents can grove to the sounds of The Pink Floyd. Next Friday is Led Zeppelin, we hope to attend this as well.
My little baby Grace, who hardly ever gets sick, got sick this weekend. We were up with her at 4:20 AM Saturday morning as EE and GP came by on there way to go on vacation in the Dominican Republic. Jenny took Grace to the doctor and they said she had strep throat and an ear infection. My poor baby girl.
We stayed home and rested on Saturday instead of making a pilgrimage to Texas State vs Lamar football game and tailgating. Daddy worked around the backyard, mostly on adding some more decorative woodworking to the pergola that I reconstructed a few years ago.
After church on Sunday, Daddy did more work in the backyard by finishing the framing out the rest of the backyard and more on the French Drain.
Grace is still not feeling the best and we are here for our little girl.
Garrett is stoked about his Birthday week. Tomorrow is GMAC'S BDay celebration at Toni's Fun Learning Center, where they go to a trip, lunch, and cake at the Circle C Fire Station!! Tuesday is his 3rd BIRTHDAY!!! We will have Goo Goo and Papa over for Pizza at the house! Then Saturday is his big party!!
Vera's 2nd BDay Party
This was a lazy weekend, except for the fact that the entire family along with EE and GP descended on Gruene, TX on an early Saturday morning to again scour the earth for Jenny's lost Wedding Engagement diamond ring. The ring was sought after on the day it was lost Oct. 2, as well as the following day Oct. 3., and then again today Oct. 8. Several dozen eyes have looked for this ring, but it was not found.
When we got home, we walked down the street to our neighbors the Bonsor's for Vera's 2nd Birthday Party. It was a Sesame Street Elmo Party. Grace dressed up as Elmo and made an appearance. As did a signed print of Elmo and his handler, Kevin Clash, taken at SXSW this past year. It was a great day and then the rains came. The first time it has rained like this in many many months.
National Night Out 2011
Tuesday, October 04, 2011 at 6:30 P.M., is National Night Out 2011 – America’s Night Out Against Crime. Be sure to turn off your TV and go outside to meet, greet, and party down with your neighbors! It is a great chance to enjoy these cool Fall days, that feels so good in Texas. If you haven’t attended a National Night Out before, you should, they are a lot of fun. Most times Fireman and/or Police come out to talk safety to the groups. The children love the Fire Engines!! Entire streets are blocked off, there are BBQ, grilling, kegs, and refreshments for the street of neighbors to enjoy together! So get out there and go be a part of the fun and excitement of the evening!

This is the “28th Annual National Night Out” (NNO), it is a unique crime/drug prevention event sponsored by the National Association of Town Watch (NATW).
If your street does not host an event, then you may like to look into hosting an event for next year, please sign up.
The Comers have hosted the event for several years on Redleaf Lane. And for the past few with the help of our great neighbors, The Bonsers, so if you would like to come to our party, come on by! As the Snedaker’s have moved from Redleaf Lane, they did make way for us in their driveway to use this as the gathering for ice cream. Our driveway was used for the keg of Shiner in the kegerator. An ambulance showed up this year as did the firetruck which made my son and everybody so happy!
We cordially invite you and your community to be a part of our NIGHT OUT 2011 team.
Chili Cookoff and Jenny's Girl Weekend
Matthew Comer won 3rd place in a Chili Cookoff.
My Mom and Dad also entered their chili and won 7th and 4th place respectively. There were 18 teams and all of the chili was mmm good!
The only other time that I won, was in 2001, in which I took the People’s Choice Award!
ward.
I along with EE, GP, and the Yarosh's helped me watch GMAC and Grace the weekend, as Jenny had a girls weekend in Gruene, TX. However, a misfortune happened...:

New Braunfels Herald-Zeitung reports
NEW BRAUNFELS — A fun weekend trip to Comal County has turned into heartbreak for an Austin couple
Jenny Comer of Austin and some of her girlfriends visited Gruene on Sunday. According to her husband Matthew, while shopping around town she lost her wedding ring — “the band that I proposed our engagement with over six years ago.”
“We have looked all over in the little town, but have not been able to find it,” Comer wrote in an email to the New Braunfels Herald-Zeitung. “We have talked to all of the shop owners — nice people — and loved everywhere.
“I see on your (website) that you helped a military family find their rings in the river. I am trying to keep hope that we will find it, and I wanted to reach out for your help.
“Please let us know if there is anything that we can do to help get our story out to people, in case they find this ring.”
If you have seen the ring, email Managing Editor Shawn Lewis at slewis@herald-zeitung or call (830) 625-9144, ext. 220.
The Comers can be reached by email at mac40_98@yahoo.com.

Park Weekend
Jenny took the kids to Zilker park and rode the train and everything.
The kids went with EE and GP to eat pizza and spend the night.
Then on Sunday, after church we met the Houlton's at SouthPark Meadows park for a picnic dinner.
Mason's BDay Jumpy Place Weekend
This past weekend, we had so much fun with the kids and playing around the house. And with a little bit of needed rain. After the kids went to bed Friday night, I grilled some good steaks for dinner.
Saturday morning, Daddy took both GMAC and Grace to visit G.P. at his work! The kids were paraded around by the proud grandfather. GMAC loved seeing the forklifts and the cold room, oh so cold! Then we ran some errands together before sleepiness took over and commanded a nap. We napped the whole way to the Jumpy Place in Kyle for Mason's 3rd Birthday Party!! It was a great time, cake and fun! A beautiful storm loomed in the South bringing more much needed rain. We drove into San Marcos just to see it. As well as checking out a friends tailgating party for the big TSU vs Tarleton State home opener football game. Too rainy we decided to go to Herbert's Taco Hut for dinner with the family. Mmm good!
Sunday was a lazy day that brought more rain, then the family dropped Daddy of at the Austin City Limits Music Festival for the last day of attractions. ACL was good, and Daddy got to hear a lot of different kids of music.
Rockport Family Vacation
Rockport Family Vacation
We got an early start on Friday. Leaving with the family after baby sitting the Bonser girls down the street. We hit the road, off to our 2nd Annual Rockport Comer Family Vacation in the sweet and cozy
Little Bay Club. Stopping for lunch at Wendy's then Smitty's in Lockhart. We got to Rockport and settled in just a half hour before GP and EE arrived. Then another hour or so, came Aunt B, Uncle Cary, and Cousin Cade!! Our weekend had started!! After a quick trip to H.E.B. and Wal-Mart for groceries, we grilled some yummy shrimp and tilapia.
Cary, GP, and Matt fished and caught several all weekend, but it was the crab that was so tasty on the grill!
On Sunday, we finally made it to Blue Beach, even using our Annual Pass from last year, 9/11. It was great, the kids all loved it! We huddled in the shade of our little cabana listening to an Outlaw Country station doing Gun Fighter Ballads!
That night, we grilled more fish and shrimp and seared some Yellow Fin Tuna!
On the way back, the Yarosh's went to the Texas State Aquarium in Corpus Cristi. Buckees in Gonzalas, the largest C Store I've ever been into.
Stopping for lunch at Blakes and then City Market in Luling.
Labor Day Weekend
Well I don't get a lot of days off of work so when I do, I like to enjoy them. And Jenny has been working a lot more lately, helping another office on some Monday's and Wednesdays.
I went to the lake Friday night with a friend to check my A/C situation in these 70+ days of 100+ degree heat. It's difficult to cool down a place 30-40 degrees!! We stopped and had dinner at Rosie's Tamale House on the way back.
The following day, we loaded up the family and headed back to the lake for all sorts of ice cream and corndog fun!! Even a little dip in the lake. However, instead of risking a bad A/C situation we spent the night with Aunt Brittney at her house at the lake. As Uncle Cary was in Dallas training and driving NASCAR racecars for fun!
As we left the lake on Sunday, smelling smoke in the air, we saw an enormous blaze in the hill country in Spicewood. Cary and Brittney began evacuating their house. As did other friends in the Austin, Texas Oaks neighborhood. Apparently, due to the high winds, low humidity, and extreme drought and heat, many fires started all over the area. Bastrop got the worst of it, which turned out to be the largest fire in Texas history.
On Monday, as the family drove North across Lady Bird Lake, looking over downtown toward the East, an enormous smoke cloud ominously loomed over the city. WOW, I have never seen anything like this in Austin!
In better news, Chuck E. Cheese was good to GMAC and Grace for Cooper's 5th Birthday Party!! What a weekend.

Aquarena Springs San Marcos Family Hot Day
Saturday we woke up early and all went to Aquarena Springs in San Marcos together with Cade, Brittney, Cary, EE, and GP. Jenny had purchased some Groupons, so we thought we would check it out. It had been 15+ years since I have been there, long since SWT, not Texas State had purchased the fledgling amusement park. The park is self-sufficient now, which means they must pay for the updates to the facility. So they only have enough money to keep the boats working. It was good to see it this way, grass sprouting up everywhere, everything falling apart, looking like present day Chernobyl. Everything we see now, concrete, buildings, tower, cable car ride will all be torn down in October. As it will be returned to green space.
Then we went to the Children's park in San Marcos for a all wood play area. Then down to the river and cooled off as it is 114 today and tomorrow.
That night, we went to the Smith's home for a Tandoor Indian style dinner, mmmm, Andrew is such a wonderful cook!.
Also, I won VIP passes on KLBJ 93.7 FM via Kirsten for Bat Fest. We got there in time so see the headliners, Filter and Bob Schneider!
GMAC and Grace Together at the First Day of the Official School Year
Today is the day that summer ends and the little kiddies return or start school for the very first time. GMAC and Grace are now in school together at
Miss Toni's Fun Learning Center. They are loving being together everyday. Four of their classmates have moved on to "Big Kids School" and they will surely be missed. Grace and one other boy are the two new kids in the class.
Our school has been selected to participate in a video shoot for the USDA food program in (cooperation with the Texas Department of Agriculture) supporting healthy eating. A crew was at the school today (Aug. 22) to video our class during our snack period. This is quite an honor for us to be selected.
GP's Surprise BDay Brewery Tour Party and OSMF Volunteer Party
What a weekend! Jenny took GMAC and Grace to fellow, but former classmate, Shaun's 5th Birthday Party and had a great time!
They later met up with the rest of the group for a bratwurst dinner and after party at Comerosa. This was following the surprise brewery tour of the area, Thirsty Planet and Jester King.
After church n Sunday, we took the family out to
Memory Lane Events Center in Dripping Springs for a
Old Settlers Volunteer Appreciation Pool Party!
Happy Birthday Mommy
We celebrated Jenny's 34th (doesn't she look great!!!) with her twin brother and family in Florida. But we also celebrated on the day of when we returned. We went to Double Dave's for a Pizza Buffett dinner with GMAC and Grace! Then home for cake!!
Grace First Day at Toni's Fun Learning Program
Grace joined brother Garrett, or as she calls him "Dedditt", and he calls her "My Baby" at Miss Toni's Fun Learning Program today.
They don't need two mats, as Grace sleeps on GMAC's mat with him.
Florida Family Vacation
We visited family in Florida for an entire week! We left on Saturday August 23rd and left on Saturday 30th. It was a great time! GMAC and Grace took their first airplane flight, earning their wings on Southwest and JetBlue. Jenny and her twin brother Joey celebrated their 34th Birthday Week together in Florida!! It was great to see Jodi and Kyle, since we have not seen them since GMAC's 2nd Birthday party in October, when they moved to Fargo, North Dakata.
We visited with Traci, Justine, and Courtney who welcomed us into their home as they always do, with such incredible generosity and openness!!
Our condo in Melbourne was great! The only thing that separated our view of the beach was our swimming pool! However, we spent the majority of our time hanging out with the Winton family at their wonderful home, just blocks from the condo. There we swam in their beautiful refinished swimming pool and outdoor patio area!! Playing cornhole and singing Karaoke!
We ate well every night! One night we went to the Green Turtle, which is a fancy seafood and butcher place, that serves Florida Brewery Beer on tap while you wait. We got some Salmon, Grouper, Tilapia, and Tuna which we later seared to perfection! We drank Zing Zang Bloody Mary's and lot's of good cerveza!
One day we took the family to SeaWorld in Orlando and made a day of it! We saw all of the shows and GMAC played on a 3 story playset full of nets and tunnels. He did the classic kid thing, cried when he had to leave the park because he didn't want to go...
Goo Goo and Papa Terry drove in from Austin to spend the later half of the weekend with us. How the kids were happy to see them!! More family came, like Aunt Marie. And Doug and Pat. We took family photos and ordered a platter of food and chicken wings from Long Doggers!
Traci took us onto base and showed us the helicopters that he works on! GMAC loved it so, he finally got to see "Uncle Traci Helicopters!" Being close the base also has it's advantages, as you constantly see the coolest military planes and choppers buzzing over head all day.
We went to the beach a couple times and the kids played in the sand. And one day we went to Beach 16 in Coco Beach and surfed the best waves of the week!
In the mornings Traci would make the best Espresso and Cuban coffees, mmm!!
The last night of our trip, the guys went to the Tiki, which is an awesome tiki lounge on the Air Force base! What a great time!
Then back home we went. EE and GP and Cade greeted us at the airport! It was nice to be back and see more family. It is still hot in Austin, no rain, but we are well rested and relaxed. A great trip!
Happy Birthday Daddy
Daddy's Birthday Weekend and BDay were wonderful! He got to do all that he loves! Spending time with the family, big ribs/sausage/grilled chicken and jalapeno poppers dinner!! A big hat!! Taking in a film "The Tree of Life". Estate sale after Church and the Parables of Matthew 13:1-9. Swimming in the sacred waters of Barton Springs. And Bev's pool! And bowling with friends! And BJ's Brewhouse. GMAC and Grace sang Happy Birthday Daddy, it was the most touching rendition of the song that I have ever heard.
Happy Birthday America!
What a great weekend with the family and friends!
I smoked a brisket on my new smoker, it turned out not bad!!
My friend Phillip and I went up to Lake Travis late Friday night and took in a rental movie. We woke up early to work the better part of the day before the heat got too bad. Both of our families soon joined us for a day filled with yummy food and fun! Lot's of swimming this weekend in the low lake waters.
We joined the Yarosh's for what has to be the 6+ annual 4th of July Bash at their beautiful house in Siesta Shores. We ate well, a good 'ole Fish Fry with all of the yellow catfish, blue catfish, and even Bass that he caught on trout lines from mid-May until recently.
We made it back to Austin on the 4th in time for the Onion Creek parade with my cousin and extended family of friends. We ended the night at the Smith's home for ribs, sausage, and sliders. Then off to Kyle to view one of the only firework displays in Central Texas!!
What a weekend, Happy Birthday America!! If you have not seen the below video, please watch. My cousin Shay played this during his party viewing the fireworks, I hear there was not a dry eye in the house.

BDay and Saturday Awesome Day
Today we took the kids to Madeline and Anna Belle's combined BDay party, complete with a hula dancer, Aloha!! Then it was straight over to Saturday Awesome Day at Sarah and Darrell's house!! A good day despite my grandmother breaking a hip and falling in the wee hours this morning. We wish her well through her surgery and PT in the coming weeks. She is a strong lady we don't worry too much about her. She will overcome this and be stronger, but set off the TSA scanners at the airport, give 'em hell, Granny! Give 'em Hell!!
Father's Day
I had the best Father's Day today. It all started when the whole family came to the bed and woke me up. They presented me with a little booklet of everything daddy. Everything that I like including, cars, trucks, music, film, beer, but most of all Jenny, GMAC, and Grace! We all got dressed and went to Brunch at the Cypress Grill with GooGoo and Papa. Mmm, good! They gave us dad's duct tapes as a giflt. But the real surprise was Bev giving me a Texas state flag that she quilted. I will cherish this and hang in our home. Later in the day, we cooked Fajitas and Lobster tails and ate with my Father on the banks of the San Marcos River!! To top off the night, we drove out to the Texas State University Delt house on RR12 to view the construciton of the 14 bedroom house!!! What a day! Thank you my family.
Friends BDay Parties!
Jenny the kids and I attended two sets of birthday parties of multiples today. The twins, Andrew and Parker, turned One! Then the Brothers G., Danny and Tyler, at RollyPollies in the afternoon. We took the kids out to Lake Travis to a friends sailboat, the Wiki Wiki to swim. It was a hot day, but this was a great way to cool off!
Camp Ben McCullah
Last night the Comer and Yarosh family, complete with grandparents went to the 115th Annual Camp Ben McCullah Confederate Reunion just outside of Austin in Driftwood, TX. There were many friends and family, but most of all there was the carnival! The kids got a all you can ride pass, and that they did!!! Cade liked the roller coasters and rides most of all! GMAC get's a look on his face like his old man does, not a big fan! Grace, next year honey!
Happy Memorial Day - GMAC Catches First Fish
The Comers spent some time up at Lake Travis over Memorial Day weekend. Fishing for perch and running trot lines with The Yarosh's. Garrett was fishing with daddy from the dock and caught his first fish!! A little perch. Then another, then another... pulling them out of the water so fast, every few minutes. That is what I call catching, not fishing. My little fisherman.
Grace Loses Her Boo Boo
While at home with Daddy, somewhere in between digging a trench on the side of the house and biking around the neighborhood to Sunflower Grocery and back, we lost Grace's boo-boo. Her binky is now gone. And guess what, she was okay with it. We found another one several days later, but poor Grace thinks her boo-boo is still gone =-)
Saturday Awesome Day
Saturday Awesome Day at our house was great today!! We had many friends and little kidos come out to enjoy the fun! We made pizzas!!
Delt House
Jenny took the kids by the new Delt House that is being constructed at Texas State in San Marcos. It looks amazing! In other news, the kids were also down there on a play date...
Happy Mother's Day
Happy Mother's Day to All of the Wonderful Mother's out there!! We hosted our second annual Mother's Day Party at our house today. This year was a smoked BBQ brisket with the help of my dad and his electric smoker. It came out ver well! The event this year was a success, all of the mothers were very happy!
Emily's 3rd Birthday Party
We went to Emily's 3rd Birthday Party today with the family and kids at Judy's house. What a great time!! Pinata time and all!! It was great seeing everybody and the kids had a wonderful time.
Happy Easter
We had a big weekend and weeks leading up the Easter!
All sorts of Easter Egg Hunts. Easter Egg Hunts at MOPS. Easter Egg Hunts at Miss Toni's Fun Learning Center. Easter Egg Hunts at Mia's 2nd Birthday Party yesterday and now the Comerosa Easter Egg Hunt! The kids just opened their baskets that the Easter Bunny left them, they want the candy and chocolate so bad! First we will go to the early service at Church then off to the rest of the fun filled day!
Old Settler's Music Festival
The 24th Annual
Old Settler's Music Festival at The Salt Lick Pavilion and Camp Ben this weekend in Driftwood, TX. We took the kids along for a great day of music, food, jumpy houses, and fun!!
Ranger R.I.P.
Today The Best Dog, The Texas Ranger Esquire, III, a well maintained, mannered, and all around good guy, Bichon Frise, passed away.
He was such a good dog. We loved him so much.
We will miss you Ranger.
Big Time Family Dinner
Tonight was the second Big Time Family Dinner that we have had with our friends, It was a great time in Kyle. We look forward to hosting the next one.
Zilker Zephyr
It was a beautiful day, so we took the kids to Zilker park today. They loved it!! It was Grace's first time on the zephyr train!
Valentine's Day
My family went to the Chuck E. Cheese in S. Austin yesterday for Valentine's Day. We were very please with our experience.
I just wanted to highlight the actions of one young man employee (tall, slender, facial hair). He approached my son and I and as I presume under the pretext of seeing if the machine works, gave me a token and action to try out the photo machine.
I now have a great photo of my son and I that I otherwise would know have known existed.
Super Bowl Sunday
We all plan to watch the game today as, GP - Grandpa, is in Dallas for the big game. He won tickets through Coors and will witness the Bucket List game today. We are rooting for the Green Bay Packers who he also saw in Green Bay this year, for the horrible defeat of the Cowboys.
GP ended up going to the game in a big way!!! Even being in the section of fans that were reimbursed for their seating troubles!
Mayfield Park Peacocks
We took the kids to Mayfield Park in Austin to marvel at all of the beautiful peacocks that freely roam the property. Baby Grace, GMAC, and even the parents loved the site and had a great time at the awesome sight!
Snow Day in Austin
It is official, it snowed in Austin! A very rare occurance for these parts!! The kids woke up early to see the white earth all around them! What a great time, we made snow balls and a snow lady. Played with all of the kids and adults that were off today.
Cousin Cade Turns Two!!
Cousin Cade is now 2 years old! He had a blowout birthday at Comerosa this past weekend! GMAC, Grace, little and big alike all had a wonderful time. GMAC helped his cousin dig into his Birthday Cake and even helped with opening his presents. He looves birthdays!!
Walking Grace
My sweet little girl is walking! She has been getting better and better and more brave with each day, but I officially proclaim this the day that Grace started walking! Heck, she did two laps around the den and living room! She has a wide gait and still a little unsure, but she sure is happy and proud. As are her Mommy and Daddy!
New Year and New Resolutions!
Hello again world. You were too cruel last year (
read what I am referencing), but seriously, Jenny and I have a wonderful family and really it is what is that is important to us. And family and friends. What else do you need, except good food and drink?
In 2011, I promise to keep a better log of my growing children, they mean the world to me, so why not chronicle their lives here? So please check back for more photos and stories that should tickle you silly.
Merry Christmas - Canon 7D
Dadda got a new Canon EOS 7D for Christmas!
noThis replace the Canon EOS 400D that grandpa got. So not only expect better quality photos of the Comer children, family, and relatives. But we can also expect more contributions from GP and EE with their new high tech gadgetry!
Statesman - Santa Related Meltdowns
Grace Is One!
My monkey princess Grace is now One!
She had a wonderful party at mom and dad's house! It was a milk and cookies party.
It was held before afternoon nap times so all of the toddlers and babies had lot's of fun before they needed to retire for rest.
The Birthday girl had her cake and ate it, too! She had it all over!
Grace Baptism
Grace is baptised before her family and friends on this Sunday at the Oak Hill
United Methodist Church (UMC). We had a big turn out today to see our little angel, Grace, receive God's grace.
Afterward, we had a waffle and blueberry brunch at Comerosa for those in attendance.
GMAC Turns Two!
GMAC is now in his Twos!
We celebrated with a big birthday party at Sweet Berry Farms!
He had lots of friends come out to join him and it was a great time!!!
Dadda Birthday
I turned 35 years old today, on July 11! It was only 35 short years ago that I was born.
My family and I started off the weekend by going to Blanco State Park, swimming and eating some good BBQ! We then went to the refreshingly cold waters of Blue Hole in Wimberley.
For my birthday, I went sailing on Lake Travis with a friend on his new sailboat, the Wiki Wiki! Then my friends and family met at the Shuck Shack for horseshoes and some good cajun style sea food and BP Gulf Oil free BBQ oysters!
Happy Birthday America!
The Comer Family enjoyed a great weekend on Lake Travis. We stayed up there from Friday until Monday. We spent July 3rd at Brittney and Cary's house at their annual Fish Fry. Cary caught all of the catfish, yellow, and blue all week. They were so fresh!! And Harry used his recipe to coat the fish, mmmm good!! I made some jalapeno poppers, too. It rained a little, but that didn't dampen our appetites for food and fun. Afterwards, we all went to the Piranha Club (FICA) for like the 10th annual fireworks show. This year we watched from the boat of a pledge brother's, Mark. It was great!
We woke up on my personal "Groundhog Day", July 4, and did it all again. More boating, more fireworks, more fish, and even some grilled piconia brazilian beef tri-tips. It is one of the best 4th of July celebrations that I can remember, key point, that I can remember.
All of the kids had a wonderful time, Garrett, Grace, and Cade!!
OMG, it's been too long
Sorry, people have been requesting that we update this with pictures, and I am only here updating it with words. GMAC is out of his toddler-teens and now 20 months old. Grace is 6 months old now. She is sitting up and rolling over. And as of today rolling over both ways!!
They are great!! But the reason that Jenny and I have not updated this page is oh sooo long, is we are just getting by with these little ones, from early in the morning until late at night. Two under 2, 14 months apart can be a lot of work. Don't get me wrong, we love every single minute of it, I'm just tying to explain why we have slacked on this site.
Also, everybody look at the new http://matthewcomer.com site, it has some updates.
Sleeping Grace
Our little baby girl is eating, sleeping, and growing!

GMAC Is One!
GMAC turned One today! We had him a blow out blast at his grandparent's house, Comerosa.
We had BBQ brisket, but all he cared about was the cake. Well, not at first, but eventually. He got the hang of it and tore into the cake and later even some presents. All of our family and friends attended, it was a wonderful party for a great little man!
Hello World
Hello Everybody,
Mommy and Daddy created this web page to share pictures of our adventures with everybody. Please come back and watch me grow!!
GMAC
My Aunts and Uncle
These are some of Garrett's Aunts and Uncle :
Top is Aunt Brittney (she is going to be giving GMAC a new boy cousin in late January 2009)
Bottom is Uncle Joey and Aunt Jodi (they will be giving GMAC a new girl cousin in late March 2009)
*** Not shown are GMAC's Uncle Cary & Aunt Justine and Uncle Tracy
CAUTION : Baby at Play
Here is a good picture of the blocks I made - as the picture shows, he just watches them and tries to reach for them. The other picture is Garrett on his activity mat looking at himself in the mirror ! These are great brain builders for babies his age and Garrett is showing his certain genius already :)
GMAC's First Month
Our little boy is already a month old as of November 18th ! As his G.P. Mike says every time he sees him (which is almost everyday !) - he has grown so much. He doesn't have another official weigh in until his 2 month appointment with the pediatrician, but as per our home scale he is over 10 lbs now.
EATING : He eats like a maniac and is already up to 4 ounces a feeding !
SLEEPING: He is sleeping with us for the most part in the SnuggleNest and only wakes up once per night. He is napping lots during the day too !
PLAY: Garrett's favorite thing right now is a mobile that I made for him out of paper and I drew bold red and black patterns on all sides of three different cubes. I hung the cubes from the mobile attached to his swing and he will watch them and smile and coo at them. He also really likes to sit in his Rainforest bouncer that Auntie Amanda got for him :)
APPEARANCE: His eyes look so blue to us, but there is still time for change. He is loosing his dark baby hair and we are anxious to see what color hair will grow in its place !
We are enjoying watching him grow and play. He has had lots of visitors and we have had fun showing him off !
Baby's First Halloween
Before Garrett was even born we were already beginning to celebrate Halloween ! A co-worker had the idea of painting a huge Pumpkin on my huge belly, so Matt obliged. That was a lot of fun to do!
After Garrett was born and Halloween finally arrived, My mom and I took him out to try and find a pumpkin patch to take pictures at but couldn't find one for the life of us. So, we did the next best thing...went trick-or-treating at Nanny's house :) Harold had a tiny pumpkin full of treats for Garrett and Nanny tricked him into a big ol' kiss !
Garrett Mikeal Anderson Comer
It's a Boy ! Born on October 18th 2008 at 6:45pm. He weighed 8lbs 4 oz and was 21 inches long.
He was born healthy (a little jaundiced) and I am doing wonderfully. I was induced on the morning of the 18th and all went as planned. He has been an absolute joy to have in our home and in our lives. Matt & I are just thrilled at the opportunity to share our lives with him.
Belly Painting
Ahhhh, what happened to my feet !
Just so you know, this is NOT what my feet normally look like ! I remember seeing those pregnant women who's feet and ankles were so sadly swollen and I wondered how they got that way...now it is my turn. I am afraid to say the rest of me is pretty darn swollen as well, pictures to come !
Matt & I had the first of our weekly visits last Friday and they did an ultrasoound to check the position of the baby and good news - it is HEAD DOWN ! My OB hadn't quite been able to 100% determine where the head was so the ultrasound was helpful I suppose. It is always fun to see your baby anyway :)
My Second Baby Shower
Last Friday my boss and his wife, Tony and Debra McDowell, held a couple's shower for Matt and I as well. Tony and Debra are such gifted hosts, having already experienced their talents during a wedding shower they also held for us 3 years ago. I am the luckiest hygienist in the world to be able to work for such a great person ! THANK YOU, Doc !(Dr. McDowell is the one in the Longhorn shirt doing what he does best, bringing smiles to people's faces...I wish I had a better picture of both he and Debra to show...)
My First Baby Shower
This picture is of all of the pregnant women at the shower: (L to R, in order of due date) Dawn, Me, Jill, Kathryn, Brittney, and Jodi
Women need their girlfriends, especially during this time in their lives. I am so amazingly blessed to have so many girlfriends that I can call on and lean on at a moments notice ! Some of which threw me the most beautiful baby shower a few weeks ago and Matt & I had another fantastic one given by my boss, Tony McDowell, last weekend. I want to say a special thank you to my friends Amanda, Cora Lee, Jodi, Allison, and Melissa for all of their hard work putting together the shower that was held a few weeks ago !
Thanks in a very large part to everyone who attended these showers for helping me to prepare for my baby. I definitely feel prepared now AND READY for this little bundle to come join the Comer party ! Enjoy a few pictures from the showers....
Introducing Baby Boy Yarosh !
Matt & I are overjoyed...My sister-in-law Brittney (Matt's sister) and her husband Cary are expecting a little boy in January 2009 ! This will be their first baby and we are elated that Baby Comer will have cousins so close in age. Congratulations - you two will be amazing and fun parents !
First Pictures of Baby Osborne
I am so happy to announce that my twin brother Joey & his beautiful wife Jodi are pregnant with their first baby ! She is approx. 10 weeks pregnant and Matt & I couldn't be happier for them both - CONGRATULATIONS YOU TWO ![Image]
A Busy Pregnancy
Some of you have noticed that I haven't updated my blog in a while and I can only blame myself. Pregnancy is an absolute whirlwind and the closer I get to October 12th, the faster the days go by.
I have continued to feel wonderful throughout the pregnancy but for all of you out there that just hate to hear that, you will be happy to know that I am swelling a bit in my legs as of the last few weeks and having more uncomfortable nights of sleep. Beyond that, I'm great ! This little baby inside of me moves constantly and even has the hiccups more and more frequently. Doctor visits have gone well, very routine and normal.
Matt & I do have some good news...we are recent graduates of our ChildBirthing Classes ! I suppose now we know everything there is to know this labor thing will be a piece of cake...right ?!? Wishful thinking :) Actually, I think I feel more confused and anxious than ever. One thing I know for sure though, I have one great husband. Matt has been so supportive in attending every class, every appointment, and every trip to Babies R US - He's the best !
No progress on names as of yet, however we are getting closer everyone :) I truly think that Matt and I's nature doesn't allow for us to cement a name until the very last moment, so we will most likely keep everyone at the edge of their seat until the hospital demands a name from us.
That is all for now, more to come soon ~
What's In A Name
As a dental hygienist, I get to see 8 people every day that I haven't seen in 6 months or more (usually). So every day, 8 times a day, as soon as they notice the growing belly they will ask "Are you pregnant ?". Some would say that you should never ask a woman if she is pregnant for fear of her actually NOT being pregnant - these people have clearly never heard that rule !
However, I am pregnant and enjoy talking about it so I don't mind a bit. Having said all of that, anyone who has been pregnant will agree that there are certain questions that everyone will inevitably ask..."When are you due?", "Do you know if it is a boy or a girl ?", "How have you been feeling?"and "Will you come back to work after you have the baby?" - usually in that order :) So let me answer some of those questions for everyone out there !
Due Date : October 12, 2008 (Libra, if anyone keeps up with that sort of thing)
Sex : Unknown, Matt and I have chosen to be SURPRISED !
Will I come back to work : Yes, at least 3 days/week (which is only 1 less day than I work now)
Now, I left out one of the more recent questions that I have been asked more frequently and that is..."Have you thought about names?". The answer to that question is yes and no. Matt and I have different ideas of what a name should be - I like traditional names , he likes more modern names. I'm am truly afraid this child will be nameless until a decision MUST be made~~ So, if anyone has any ideas, ANY ideas at all, send them to us ! Otherwise, if Matt gets his way, if we have a boy his name will be Chazz or Blaine and our precious little girl will be named Blaire (there is nothing wrong with Blaire - but who can honestly tell me they don't immediately reference The Facts of Life when they hear it ?).
Save me from my 80's pop culture nightmare, your suggestion may just be a winner !
Joys of Pregnancy
I titled this "Joys of Pregnancy" which may seem to have a sarcastic undertone, but seriously y'all - being pregnant HAS been a joy ! I have never had a day of true "morning sickness", minus one indulgent episode of a Dirty Martin's hamburger, onion rings, and a chocolate malt that came back to haunt me hours later... The aforementioned occurance aside, I really have tried to be a very thoughtful eater and believe that I am doing my best at giving Baby comer the best nutritional start that I can.
My body is definitely changing by the day, my growing belly being the most apparent. My great friend Amanda was kind enough to lend me some of her maternity clothes, so between those and the Bella Band (a spandex tube top-type thing that you place around your waist that allows you to unbutton and unzip any bottoms that you wore pre-pregnancy and continue to wear them in comfort) - I haven't had to spend much on new clothing. I am loving my new belly, I have never felt like more of a woman !
As far as feeling the baby, the answer to that question is YES ! For about 3-4 weeks now I have felt the baby moving. I really didn't feel the "flutter" that is commonly described in books, I felt something that could best be described as a kneading in my belly at first and now it is a full on kicking/bumping that Matt can easily feel.
I occasionally will get a hankering for certain categories of food (sweet, salty, chewy, etc...), but no real cravings for specific foods. I have only gained 5 lbs so far (Baby Comer is approx. 1 lb now), but the pound packing days are yet to come :)
Matt and I will try to take some pictures to show everyone what the 23 week pregnant Jenny looks like soon, until then thanks for reading ~
Our Miracle in Pictures (continued...)
For me, it seemed like a very long time between being able to see Baby Comer at 8 weeks old and then having to wait 3 MONTHS to see the baby again ! But the day finally arrived and here are some of the pictures from our 45 minutes of amazement with the sonographer.
Profile View of Baby Comer (can you see it's open mouth !)
Baby's face ~ A little concerning, I know...but we have faith that Baby Comer's nose won't actually take up a third of its face :)
This picture is a cross-section of our baby. The sonographer was taking a picture of the four chambers of the heart and recording its heartbeat on the bottom (144 beats per minute - very normal !)
Our Miracle in Pictures
On the 4th of February, I excitedly woke up at 4:30am because I knew that that was the first day that I would be able to take an accurate pregnancy test to find out if Matt and I were pregnant. Through sleepy but hopeful eyes, I saw the word PREGNANT in little pink letters on that stick and neddless to say, I didn't go back to sleep that morning ! I had plans of keeping the news to myself until morning so that Matt could get more sleep, but after about 10 minutes of staring at him hoping that he would wake up on his own - I woke him up and let him know that he was going to be a daddy :)
This is our baby's first picture, our little one is only 6 weeks old. Matt and I were so incredibly excited about something so incredibly SMALL !
8 weeks along now, our baby has grown significantly. However, it still looks a little like an unshelled peanut and I personally couldn't even tell which was head or tails ! Matt and I were just thrilled to see our baby again ~
