I haven’t posted anything since before we had Max so I’ll back track a bit. Max George Ehret was born May 27^th at 1:03pm. He was 8lbs 10oz and 20 ½ inches. I was induced because I had stopped gaining weight and they thought Max had stopped growing too. My IV started at 9am, my water broke at 12:45pm. I had one more contraction, the doctor rushed in, and in one push we had Max in our arms. It was the easiest delivery ever. If only my entire pregnancy was that easy. I was showered and eating lunch by 2pm. We went home the following evening.

 

Life with 2 is definitely a struggle. It is the biggest change in our lives ever. The hardest, most exhausting, fantastic and fulfilling thing. Max lives up to his name. He is 9 weeks old today and eats 6-7oz of milk every 2 hours if not every hour. He is also blue eyed and stubborn just like his Great Grandpa George(and mommy)! He insists on being held and walked. He will scream at the top of his lungs and turn it off in a heartbeat if you just stand up- silly boy. He now weighs 12lbs 8oz and is 23 ½ inches tall.

 

Dean has been adjusting well. He mostly ignores him, but enjoys helping occasionally. He gets plenty of attention from family so I don’t think he feels like he is missing out on anything except constant diaper changes that Max gets.

 

We traveled to Hawaii for my Mom’s 50^th birthday at the beginning of July. It was a great trip even with 2 kids. We also took a trip last weekend to Fresno to visit friends and family. We were able to make a trip to the zoo and playland.

 

Now we are trying to wrap our heads around how life is going to be when Jay heads back to work at the high school in 2 weeks, starts his football season of coaching and I am returning to school on Monday. Its going to be tough, but we will figure it out. Life is good and we are thankful every day for where our lives have taken us.

April has passed and we are in the start of May. Our time has been consumed by getting ready for Baby Ehret to arrive. This is going to be a short update. The new pictures are from a photo session we squeezed in on a weekend trip to Fresno in late March. We are thrilled with how well they came out.

 

Jay's work is going very well. He is enjoying the new challenges that arise daily and he seems to be connecting with the kids easily. Football season starts soon and I can already feel his excitement.

 

I went to the Dr's today for my 36 week check up..... We  may be having this baby sooner then planned. I am 3cm dialated and thinned out. He said it could be any day from now till my due date of the 28th. My gut feeling is that he will be here sooner, but only time will tell. The good news is that my delivery should be a piece of cake since my body is doing all the prep work before I actually go into labor.

Time has flown by! I have not updated the website since January…. A lot has been happening.

Dean celebrated his 2^nd birthday on February 25^th. We had a party at my mom’s house with cotton candy, a bounce house, and bubble machines in the house when it started to rain. Overall it was a great party and Dean played nicely with all of the kids that attended.

My pregnancy is going well. I am 30 weeks today and almost as big as I was with Dean full term. I am counting down the weeks- I can’t wait to never be pregnant again! I have had a few extra ultrasounds because I had a few days of contractions that were above the normal Braxton Hicks contractions and the Dr. wanted to be extra sure everything was still looking fine. The contractions are back to random occurrences and everything is looking perfect with the baby.

We also had the opportunity to have a free of charge 4D ultrasound. It wasn’t very successful because the little stinker never stops moving. In 50 minutes of 3 ultrasound technicians attempting to get that perfect picture we have a lot of blurred face shots and one perfect picture of his male anatomy-that was the only thing he held still for! Thank goodness we didn’t have to pay for it!

Last weekend we took a day trip to the Monterey Bay Aquarium. Dean was so amazed at the whales and dolphins suspended from the ceiling. I think he would have been happy just spending time in the entryway. I wasn’t sure how well he would do, but he was surprisingly captivated by the exhibits. He loved the sharks and manta rays in the large tank the best.

And the best news is that Jay has accepted a new position at the high school. It’s part time as an Instructional Aide for the resource students. He will be making up the remaining hours working with me helping keep the office in order. I am sure that once we have this new baby I am going to be in way over my head with work, school and taking care of them so it will be nice to have Jay’s support even if it’s only for a few hours during the day.  He is also planning on coaching football again. My nephew Mark has just moved to town and enrolled at the high school so Jay is really looking forward to working with him during the season too.

Life is crazy as ever, but as we prepare for baby number two I am constantly reminded how blessed, lucky, and thankful I am. Jay has been amazing through all of the changes that we have endured in the last 7 ½ months. Between the lay off, a grumpy pregnant wife that has a to-do list miles long, and a wild toddler, I can sometimes see the wheels in his mind turning and wondering “What did I get myself into”  I am so glad he did get himself into this. I couldn’t have asked for a better Husband and Father.

I cant believe its already January. Life has been good, but crazy as ever for us. We did a 2 dinner Thanksgiving. We had a great visit with both sides of the family.

 

My Mom, Jay, Dean and I took a very last minute trip to Disneyland in the beginning of December. We lucked out and missed all the rain and never waited more than 20 minutes to get on a ride. Dean’s favorite was the Mary Poppin’s carousel and meeting Mary and Bert. He did really well on most of the rides. We even took him on Pirates of the Caribbean- he wasn’t too sure of the first big drop in the dark but after that he was fine. Overall we had a great time. Dean still plays with his goggles and aviator cap from “Up” daily.

 

Christmas was very quiet. We spent Christmas Eve at my Moms with about ½ the family for dinner. We had a change from the norm and ate prime rib, roasted red potato’s, green salad, and french bread. Dean did really well opening his presents even though it was way past his bedtime. Having Seth and Mark home helped keep Dean awake and running around like crazy. He is still getting the hang of ripping the paper off though. We went to Jays moms Christmas morning and opened presents and then I slept the remainder of the day until dinner (fighting a cold) and we had burritos for dinner.

 

Baby update:

 I went to see my neurologist on the 23^rd. My sister Sheridan went with me so we were able to spend the day in Sam Louis Obispo together for lunch and shopping after my appt. which was a fantastic change of pace for me. My Dr. and I basically came to the conclusion that both of us didn’t feel comfortable placing me back on my headache medications that I took previously. He was able to prescribe a muscle relaxer that I take at night to ensure that I am getting a deep sleep every night. We are also going to test my vitamin levels to make sure that I am absorbing the correct amounts of my prenatal vitamins. If I have a deficiency that could be cause for the headaches and I would just have to do vitamin therapy to get my levels back to normal. Other then that he wants me to continue acupuncture and massage. If my headaches are still around once I deliver this baby then I will start back on my headache medicine.

 

I go back to my OB on the 4^th and we find out the sex of the baby on the 7^th. Once again we will share the sex but keep the name secret until delivery. To give you an idea of how big I am- I am already the size I was at about 6 ½ months pregnant and I am 18 weeks now…. I met another preggie lady in a store that was 30 weeks pregnant (same build as me but maybe 2 inches shorter) and I was more pregnant then she was…. Needless to say I am big... really big... Hopefully this one isn’t bigger then Dean. 8 lbs is perfect!!

Hi,

Just a quick update. Halloween was fantastic! We were able to visit with family, Dean was a very happy camper, and he was totally into trick-or-treating. No fear at all. I think it helped that he had his cousins by his side, but he was funny... Would walk up, say "More" as he lifted his elmo basket, get candy, say "Thank You", and run to the next house. We were not allowed to lighten his candy load or even think about touching the basket as we walked house to house. He actually fell asleep in the car with his basket of candy in his lap! He hasnt even eaten candy, but he knew he had something very important  and he wasnt about to share it.

 

I also went for my 10 week ultrasound . One baby in there and everything is looking good. There was no evidence of a blood clot like I had with Dean so that was double good news! I am having all day sickness, but it is not nearly as extreme as it was with Dean. I mostly just feel flu like all the time. I was actually thinking today that the symptoms are a little less severe this week then last. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that is will go away completely in the next week or two..... Ill be 12 weeks next Thursday. I am already sporting a belly- I think it looks more like an unflattering beer belly right now, so I have to strategically wear clothes so I dont just look like I have a gut flowing over my pants- soon it will be better :) At least in the way of being positively pregnant to the public eye. 

 

The holidays are coming up so fast! Cant wait to see lots of family and spend time together. If we dont get to see you know that we will be thinking of you. Lots of love!

So it’s October and I am behind as usual with the updates. I have to back track a bit…

 

The last weekend in Aug. Dean and I flew to Georgia with family to see my brother, Seth, graduate from Ranger School. It was amazing to see Seth dressed in fatigues doing what he loves. It was so hot and humid… I’ll definitely never forget how 100 degree weather with 100% humidity feels… I prefer really hot and dry weather! Mom and Dean and I spent one day in Savannah sight seeing while the remaining McKuin Clan went to see a movie. What a magical place. So much history, architecture, and mossy trees! I could have spent a week there I loved it so much.

 

September is a big birthday/anniversary month in the family. Jay turned 29, we celebrated 3 years married, Jays Mom celebrated a birthday, and my Mom and Bill celebrated their 9 year anniversary. Towards the end of the month we had a BBQ with family to celebrate everything at once.

 

Towards the end of the BBQ Jay and I broke the news that we are expecting our 2^nd baby!! I am 8 weeks pregnant now. The all day sickness is sadly in full swing again, but we are coping well. We do plan on finding out the sex so I’ll keep you updated on how we progress!

 

Dean is still growing like crazy. He will be 20 months old on the 25^th!! He is putting words together and talking up a storm. We went to the Dr. a few weeks ago for a flu shot and I asked her to check his ears because he had been screaming a lot and throwing tantrums-hard to believe- I know… Dean is getting his 2 year molars early and its causing him to be a lil’ monster at times. Hopefully it will pass soon! We are still working on potty training… He tells us every time he goes in his diaper as he is going, but refuses to use the potty. He is happy going on the floor next to the potty but not in it… We will get there! I’m determined to only have 1 kid at a time in diapers so Dean has a deadline to meet J.

 

Dean was able to go on his first adventure to the County Fair a few weeks ago with Auntie Sheridan and Grandma Adeen. From the pictures they took the pigs in their pins and ice cream for lunch were the most exciting parts of the day. I was happy to hear it was a meltdown free day even without his afternoon nap! Why are kids always better when their parents are gone?

 

Other then the normal stuff we are looking forward to Halloween this year since Dean will actually be able to trick- or- treat. I'll try to post the pic’s sooner then later.

 

I hope you are doing well and enjoying Fall. The holidays are just around the corner and this time of year always helps put things into perspective for me- we are so thankful to have the circle of family and friends that surround us. We may not see you or talk as often as we would like, but we love you. Hopefully we are able to meet up in the next few months and if we can’t, know that we will be thinking about you.

Summer has flown by so quickly. I haven’t been adding to the website as often as I would have liked to. A ton has happened. I’ll try to remember everything, but I am sure I’ll miss something. On July 17 Eddie & Debra (Jay’s Cousins) welcomed a beautiful baby girl into the family. Her name is Taylor Margaret Pappani. We love her already and haven’t had a chance to formally meet yet. We are thankful to get pictures and updates often from Eddie and Debra. Dean cant wait to play with Taylor!

 

My Dad bought a car!! It has been a long road to getting him back on his feet and things are finally moving along. Dad was awarded his full disability for all the years he was disabled and was not getting the benefits. He has been able to drive to the pinnacles and do some light hiking, go to the store on his own, and visit without needing to use his kids as transportation. He is looking forward to a full load of classes in September at Gavilan College where he will be able to drive himself to and from instead of using the bus. Hopefully in the next few months he will be released back to working status by his doctor and will be able to make that final leap back to being a fully independent man.

 

Jay and I offered to help re-do Nephew/Godson Clay’s room this summer. He is a serious Denver Bronco’s fan so we ran with it. I asked my sister, Anna, to paint a large logo on his wall. I helped a little, but as you can see in the pictures its absolutely flawless. Anna is amazing! Then Jay and I decided we wanted to take the revamping a step further- we spent a Saturday morning garage sale hunting. Lots of thanks to my Grandma Hazel- you taught me well! We found a pine bookshelf, maple desk, Ikea bookshelves, and one hat hanging shelf- All for dirt cheap. We spray painted them all black with a satin finish. We also donated a TV stand that we had and painted it black too. We spent Sunday setting his room up. It turned out well and Clay was excited. We also added a hanging pendant and a Broncos mask.

 

We were able to make a weekend trip to Fresno to visit Nina Mad and Uncle Chuck. We were able to spend lots of time outside playing in Deans kiddy pool and visiting in the perfectly hot weather. We also visited with my friends Lisa and RG. Lisa is 21 weeks pregnant now and looks amazing.

 

Jay is a Varsity Defensive Back coach this season. He has just begun his season, and is really excited. He also started back to work 2 weeks ago. Dean was pretty sad to not have Jay to play with all day, but he is adjusting.

 

Dean is growing like a weed. He is wearing 3-4 toddler clothes, size 8 shoes, and I think he is getting his second set of molars…. It never ends. He has become a very comedic little guy. And also very dare devilish. He is climbing on everything, crawls through doggie doors, opens everything and likes to hide from you.

 

Dean had his first haircut from a actual stylist- it didn’t go well,  but the end result is very cute!

 

 

This coming Thursday Dean and I will be traveling to Georgia with almost everyone on my side of immediate family to see Seth graduate from Ranger School. This is the final graduation that he has been working so hard to achieve. Jay has a football scrimmage that weekend so he will not be able to fly with us. We will watch him graduate in Columbus and then we will be spending the weekend in Savannah. I’ll take lots of pictures!

Other than that life is busy as ever but really good. I am so thankful for family that can help us with Dean. Those little breaks help to keep the sanity.

Hi,

I am behind on my updates! June has flown by and we ar just about to celebrate the 4th. We had a pretty busy month. We spent time with family over memorial day weekend. My brother, Seth, got to come home from the Rangers for the weekend and we also had a BBQ at the park with some of Jays family. Dean loved the park- he cried when we left!

We have had a few BBQ's at our house so family and friends can enjoy our pool. This is probably the most we have ever used our pool and we have been at this house for 3 years! It is nice to have a place where we can cool off when its warm though.

Fathers Day we went to my parents cabin, in Glencoe, and did some serious clean up. It was great to get to spend some time with Katie, Brandy, and Bonnie. And extra nice to have them help with the endless raking of leaves! I think they got more done in that one day than Jay, Bill and I had done over a few weekends! The following Wednesday Anna and I took Dad to Sushi and then to see Transformers at the theater. Overall it was a great week of doing stuff for our Dad's.

We stopped giving Dean a bottle- it was only a week battle and he actually only had a few meltdowns. It went pretty well. Now we need to keep up on the potty training and get rid of his pacifier!

We also took a weekend trip to Fresno to spend time with Jays Aunt and Uncle and see my friend Lisa. When we met for lunch and she broke the exciting news that she is pregnant. This will be her first baby and we are super excited for her and RG.

Other than that life is pretty normal. dean is almost talking- he holds conversations, but it makes no sense to us... soon enough! These big perfectly formed words come out of his mouth occasionally- like umbrella- and then he is back to the normal baby formed words. I have a feeling he is going to be a very talkative kid!

April was a month of celebrating for us. The first weekend in April Jay, my Mom, Dean and I took a long trip to Alabama so I could be a bridesmaid in Ashley’s (my friend from high school) wedding. The weather was absolutely perfect and everything for her day turned out great. We were happy to be able to share the experience with her and loved being able to catch up again. They even had a crawfish feed the following day so we could get a real taste of Alabama!

 

The following weekend Jay’s cousin Carlie got married in San Francisco at Fort Mason. Another beautiful wedding we were happy to be a part of. We were happy to be with all the family celebrating her special day.

 

 The next morning was Easter. Dean got lots of cool gifts that he uses every day. Mostly clothes, books and toys that were much needed. Thank you to everyone!

 

The only other big news for April is that Dean has started potty training. He is 14 months old and is getting it amazingly fast. Every time he wakes up from a nap or bedtime we run to the potty at grandmas or the little urinal at our house and he goes. He claps afterwards and is very proud of himself. I try to take him to the potty every hour or two and he is doing really well. The pic in the slideshow was the first time he ever went. Now we just have to get him to start telling us when he needs to go.

 

Oh and he learned how to whistle. It’s pretty funny. I keep trying to record him, but he stops when the camera turns on. I’ll post it if I ever catch it. He thinks he is really cool and goes through the house and outside whistling as he plays.

This month has been crazy! March Madness for sure! At the start of the month I caught a little cold. The following week I went to Las Vegas for my girlfriend from high school, Ashley’s, bachelorette party. I had a blast. Over the weekend while I was gone Dean and Jay got really sick. Jay went to the Dr and got better after 2 days off work and some serious cough medicine. Dean’s cold turned into croup. He started steroids and seemed to be getting better. Two days after he finished his medicine he started wheezing. Back to the Dr! We got a nebulizer with Asthma medicine and steroids to give him 3 times a day. Thankfully he would let us put the mask on him when he was asleep. I thought we were in the clear, but he spikes a fever and so back to the Dr we went. An ear infection in the right ear! A week later I went back to have his right ear rechecked and that had healed, but the left ear was infected!! We are just finishing his medicine for that and hoping we are done with this mess!!

 

We have been trying to fight off colds, working, going to school, and trying to sleep whenever possible all month!

 

Now that the weather is better hopefully all this cold junk will dissipate and we will be able to enjoy the outdoors, Deans favorite.

So Dean is year old… This morning I woke up at 7am and thought about how I was just about to deliver Dean… Man that was a long night! He was born at 7:20am so Jay and I both told him Happy Birthday and he just shook his head “Yes” with a big grin on his face! Silly boy! We went to the doctor today for his one year check up and he is doing great. He is 33 inches tall (95%tile) and 25.3 lbs (80%tile). She said he was easily the average size of an 18 month old. We are so blessed to have a healthy little guy!

 

Last Saturday we had a birthday party for Dean with family. I know it looks like a ton of people in the pictures, but just immediate family is like 40 people! Dean is blessed to have lots of Aunties and Uncles and so forth! The excitement started on Friday afternoon.

 

I asked jay to light a pile of brush that was in a large fire pit on fire so it would be gone for the party. Jay poured a small amount of gas and stepped away to place the gas can back. That was enough time for the fumes to accumulate. When he lit the fire it exploded into a big ball of fire with Jay inside. Off to the ER we went and thankfully he only suffered 1^st degree burns to his hands and face. It looked like a really bad sunburn.

 

Family came to the rescue the next morning to help get everything set up for the party. It turned out great! Dean was in a good mood all day! We had cotton candy, a pirate ship jump house, and mini hamburgers for lunch. It was a perfect day for a little pirate’s birthday celebration!

Dean can Whistle!

So one day Dean taught himself how to whistle. At 14 1/2 months! At first we thought it was just a random thing, but he will do it if we ask him to and he usually whistles when playing outside or taking a walk. Its pretty funny! It took me forever to catch him on video- he always stopped as soon as I would start recording.
