Quick January Update - Cade 8 Months

 

Just a quick update about the boys!  Cade is 8 months old!  WOW does time fly or what?!  Cade is a super-fast army crawler.  We were hoping to have that time frame where he could sit up and play but couldn’t crawl yet… nope!   He can sit up pretty well now but if he is sitting, he tips himself over so that he can crawl.  He moves from thing to thing putting EVERYTHING in his mouth.  He is very different from Troy in this aspect because Troy really didn’t chew on everything.  It’s funny to compare their cribs because Troy never even touched his crib bumper. He never pulled on it or chewed on it or even stepped on it. Cade has chewed on every side, string, and tag on that bumper.  He puts his arms around it and scrunches it down and rolls on top of it.  Some nights, I find him sleeping with his arms hanging out the side of the crib.   I love how different they really are!

 

The OTHER great news about Cade being 8 months old is that it is now time for Knox to be here!   Tomorrow I will be sitting at the hospital waiting for my sweet NEPHEW Knox to be born!  It has been so much fun to help Leigh and Charter prepare for their sweet baby boy!   I know that Pops is going to love having 3 boys around to play with!  New pictures will be on my site and soon as I can get them uploaded!

 

In other news, nothing really new is going on at the Holzman house.  We are still fighting the wonderful battle of the potty with Troy.  Why does this have to be so hard!?!  Troy is such a smart boy but he just doesn’t seem to care about using the potty.  We have offered every treat but nothing seems to do the trick.  I would say he has the pee pee part down but the other just seems to be tricky. Oh well, as my mom says, everyone uses the potty eventually! 

 

Troy still remains a picky picky eater.  He only has about 3-4 things we can rotate for dinner and he barely eats when he sits down.  This is probably why he is a skinny little 30 pounds. I probably shouldn’t complain seeing that I am going to have a house full of hungry boys in a few years and my grocery bill is going to be $$$!  At school, Troy is doing SO well learning his vowels and consonants as part of the Pre-K curriculum. I love hearing him tell us which ones are which. He brings home a little book binder that has a vowel book in it and he reads it to us every night.  It’s so sweet to hear him read his book.  Yesterday, when I picked him up from school, his teacher showed me the “blends” that they are now learning.  Now I have been out of school for a while now so I wasn’t quite sure what a blend was.   She gave Troy a stack of letters and asked him to make a blend. He took the T and the A and set them next to each other and sounded each one out until he blended it into the ‘ta’ sound.  Wow – I was so impressed! 

 

Just to share a few funny Troy conversations:

 

Me: “Troy, let’s get in the car and go to school”

Troy: “no mom, not ta day, maybe tomorrow”

 

On a night that Cade spent the night with Nana:

Troy: “Mommy, where’s my stinky baby?”

 

Troy: “Mom, I love dad, not you, dad”  (that one kinda hurt mommy’s feelings)

 

Me:  “Troy, what do you want to eat for dinner”

Troy – staring into the pantry “welllllllll…… what abouttttttttttt……….. ummmm…… what aboutttttttttt……..”

 

Me:  “Troy, are you sure you aren’t OCD?”

Troy: “no mommy, I’m T R O Y, Troy”

Me: “ok, well mommy thinks you are a little obsessive”

Troy: “mommy, I not obsessive, I’m a boy!”

 

Lots of fun things coming up this year!!  In this next month we will be spending a lot of time getting to know our sweet Knox and also celebrating some friend’s birthdays!  This is definitely going to be a year of 30th birthday parties!
