18For Christ died for sins once for all, the righteous for the unrighteous, to bring you to God. He was put to death in the body but made alive by the Spirit,
What is the ultimate reward for accepting Jesus as your LORD and SAVIOR? Some would say that it is the eternal life that we get. Others would say the better life without sin and suffering. All these are great rewards, but the best reward is God Himself. According to John Piper, enjoying God for eternity will be the best reward we get from being IN CHRIST.
All the other things that God would want us to enjoy for eternity cannot compare to being in the presence of God. This is one reason why Jesus suffered and died for us. God wants a relationship with His creation, with us individually both now and forever.
Think about this: God want us to enjoy Him forever, but we can enjoy Him now too, by living for Him. Eternal life begins when you are still alive. Where would you want to be forever? (Note: FOREVER is a long time?)
Pray: Thank God for His presence in your life. Ask that He will show Himself to others also, that they might be with you for eternity too.
Do this: List some of the things you might be doing forever with God. List some consequences for not enjoying God for eternity.
Another reason why Christ suffered and died...
That We Might Die to Sin
And Live to Righteousness
24He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, so that we might die to sins and live to righteousness; by his wounds you have been healed. Have you ever thought about what you are living for? The Bible is clear that if we are not living for God, sin is our master. As our master, we are bound to do what sin tells us to do. However, Jesus took us out of that bondage and gave us a new master, God. God is now our master and our king. We are now slaves to righteousness. According to the Bible, when Jesus died, we died with Him. We also rose with Him from the dead that we might live, not for ourselves, but for God. Think about this: We do not have to do what sin tells us to do, because we are no longer in bondage. We are now able to do what God tells us to, because He is now our master. Pray: That you remember who you should be serving everyday. That you might continue living a life that is pleasing to God. Do this: List the things that you used to do before Christ. List also the things that you do now that you didn't think before that you would ever do. Share the list to your friends and explain the power of God in you.
