Just got back from our week long vacation in Palm Springs. The weather was amazing! Todd and I did a side trip to Old Town in San Diego as well one morning. Riley loved the pool and again showed that she has no fear. She even loved being dunked by Daddy!
I hope you enjoy the pictures.
Happy Valentine's Day! Things have been busy at the Johnson house this winter. Riley is in a gymnastics class on Saturdays so that keeps us busy on the weekends. Today started off with Riley's first haircut. See Riley's page for all the excitement. We have also added a new member to the household...Elmo Live. Uncle Bill bought it for Riley for Christmas and everyone is amazed at this toy. See the video below to see Riley's new friend:

We had to say goodbye to Grandma, who past on New Year's Eve. It was hard to see her sick and we know that she is in a better place, probably making sauce and cookies for Grandpa. We had her good-bye luncheon on January 6th. I have added some pictures of family (minus Jim who was flying to exciting Idaho for work - we just can't seem to get everyone in the same spot!) to the photo section.
We went trick or treating at Nana's for Halloween. Riley had a good time and walked about 2 whole blocks. The weather was perfect (mid 60's)! Everyone had fun and gots lots of candy. Riley of course looked adorable in her purple monster costume! See her webpage for pictures.
The Wings finally won the cup...on Todd's Birthday!! Congratulations!!!
Yesterday, our baby girl turned 1 years old. Not that turning one isn't momentous enough, but she also decided she was going to walk too! It was all very very exciting.
We are enjoying our new home. It's been one week since we moved in and it is finally starting to feel real. We are finally home! I hope to add some new pictures of the new place in the next week or so!
Red Wings forward Dan Cleary has been seeking his 100th career NHL goal for some time—too long a time, as far as he's concerned.
Cleary has gone 12 games without a goal. Mired in an early season slump, he has just one goal, four assists and a minus-6 rating in 14 games.
He has not been skating as well as he normally does and hasn't been crashing the net like the team expects him to.
"Try to make sure I keep skating, good on the forecheck, that's how I create my offense," Cleary said. "It's not based on being in the high slot and shooting, it's always around the net. I got to make sure I stick around there."
Coming off a strong playoff performance (nine goals, 15 points, plus-17 rating), Cleary was hampered by a groin strain much of the preseason.
Red Wings win in SO, snap Sharks 6-game win streak (AP)
The Detroit Red Wings followed their new game plan perfectly. Pavel Datsyuk and Henrik Zetterberg scored in the shootout to lift Detroit to a 2-1 win over San Jose, snapping the Sharks' six-game winning streak. Zetterberg also had a goal in regulation, and Chris Osgood made 33 saves for Detroit, which isn't the high-scoring team it has been the past few years.
The Detroit Red Wings have dry-erase boards in the dressing room, nestled between the showers and training room, that show how they stack up. Usually, their winged-wheel logo is at least near the top of the Western Conference standings. Not anymore. Detroit's recent surge -- earning a point in seven of its last eight games -- has pushed the perennial NHL powerhouse merely into an eighth-place...
Chris Osgood reached one milestone and approached another one as he helped the Detroit Red Wings blank the Boston Bruins 2-0 Tuesday night. Osgood made 29 saves for his 50th shutout and 394th career victory. "I don't put much merit in shutouts," he said. "The only thing they're good for is that you know you have a great chance of winning the game.
This is the way Detroit coach Mike Babcock wants his team to play. Brad Stuart and Tomas Holmstrom scored 59 seconds apart in the second period, and Alberta native Chris Osgood made 20 saves to help the Red Wings beat the Calgary Flames 3-1 on Saturday night. Kirk Maltby added an empty-net goal for Detroit.
A half-dozen Tigers can become free agents, and Detroit may end up watching them all leave.
Detroit's list includes Brandon Lyon, Fernando Rodney, Placido Polanco, Adam Everett, Jarrod Washburn and Aubrey Huff.
General manager Dave Dombrowski is likely to make a determined effort to retain either Lyon or Rodney, but not both. Lyon is seen as more probable because he could end up costing less. Lyon turned down a multiyear deal last winter to sign a one-year deal with Detroit specifically to see if he could get more with a good season.
Lyon had a good season, just not as the closer he was envisioned to be. Whether that would drive him back to the Tigers on another one-year contract will play itself out.
Rodney muffed only one save chance in 38 last year, and...
