Snow? no. It's in the 70's and we're playing in the water! :) A couple of playgroup girls met at La Centerra to let the kids play in the water.
I think there's supposed to be an "arctic front" move in late this week. Maybe it'll be in the 40's. :) hahahaha
BUT I love having a newborn in this weather. I'm not complaining one bit.

A friend at church brought her all of this in light of Molly's birth. She put it all on, winter gloves and all. She later asked me, "Why do princesses wear gloves like this?" :)

we're getting our money out of it considering she's worn it to friends house for dinner, all around the house for days, and to the Pumpkin carnival today

She takes it very seriously

Painting pumpkin
Tara took her to a pumpkin carnival "thing" Saturday morning when Mitch was skeet shooting. We got her face painted, picked out a pumpkin and painted it, won a pie at the pie walk, jumped on the bouncey thing, ate hot dogs....she had so much fun

Real Losers :)
That's Nathan Dagley on left (he and Mitch played football together at UNT; he sells insurance here; has 4 kids, a girl and 3 boys. His wife and I are praying together each week), then Joe Scott (he's from Philidelphia - says his life growing up was similar to that movie "Invincible" with Mark Whalburg - the same bars, and streets, and "rough" area; I don't know really what he does), then Paul Marsh (he works for Nathan and was also at UNT when Mitch was there. He has 2 girls and a boy). Great guys.

8 year anniversary
We ate dinner at Taste of Texas then went to the Houston Galleria and looked and walked around window shopping. It was a great time! We were blessed with free childcare and free dinner!
New Kitty, Fun Party
We got the kitten. Her new name is Minnie. We bought her from CAP, a shelter in Houston. She's 10 weeks old and the perfect combination of playful and lovey. We got her all set up with her automatic outside (garage) litter box so I haven't had to touch it since we brought her home. (wheh!) She can't open the kitty door yet so we still have to prop it open. She weighs 2 pounds now. She has a little bell collar which is good b/c we'd never know where she is without is. She's a sweet addition so far. She's not afraid of Molly but I tell her all the time she should be. Molly grabbed hold one time but it went ok. Molly's about one week away from crawling so things should get exciting then.
And then last night we had the big "Last Seizure Med" party for Macy. It was fun. We had a few friends over for cake and ice cream. We sang, "Happy Last Med To You" and then she took her med and we all blew our noise makers and cheered. It was fun and very special. We threw the syringes and the medicine away - she loved seeing us do that.
Obviously, we know that she could have another one some day - we have no guarantees she won't- but we are so thankful to have reached this day at the end of this chapter we've been in with her, and whatever happens tomorrow we are thankful to God for right now. He has been so good to us through this - answering our prayers, protecting her development, keeping her safe in the midst of those seizures she did have, providing great doctors who love her, allowing the medicine that would control her seizures to taste good (!) so she not one time fought us in taking it, and it being a med that's not expensive at all.....we are so thankful for countless things He has allowed. We consider the entire thing a huge blessing. Altho we wouldn't wish this for any child, had we not walked thru it we wouldn't have all this to thank Him for. So, we want to give Him all the honor in our celebration last night. He is good and loves Macy so much. (and you too) :)
Love you all. Tara

Summer's Over
It's the last official day of summer (for us Mahers) as Macy starts Kindergarten tomorrow, the 24th. In honor of this monumental day, Mitch, the wonderful daddy that he is, let Macy ride her bike while he ran (fast) beside her to "walk the rocks" (something she loves to do) and feed the ducks, took her to get a snow cone, go swimming, and then out for pizza tonight. She was asleep at 7:15! :)
This has been the biggest summer for us. Macy has grown up so much! She's learned to swim, learned how to ride her bike w/o training wheels, lost 2 teeth, and has weaned almost entirely off her seizure medication, still showing no evidence of any seizure activity. I am overwhelmed with how proud of her I am.
My mind races back to these 5 years we've had with her at home. All the lunches we've eaten together, all the naps I've tucked her in for, all the errands, restaurants, BSF, playgroups, picnics, etc. we've done together - so many teaching moments where she's asked me questions about God, people, the future, heaven, church, and life. In those 5 years, she's taken over 2700 doses of anti-seizure medicine and not one time complained about it (honestly), moved 4 times in the past 2 years, went thru Hurricane Ike with me in the closet all night, changed churches, left all her friends in JB and made brand new ones here, said goodbye to her two kitties, and welcomed a new baby sister.
I love being a momma! Especially to little Macy. She has grown up so much and I'm very proud of her.
Her new school is Rylander Elementary. We met her teacher and Macy seemed to really like her. She also knew a little girl in her class from preschool last year so that was awesome.
We have finally gotten to a place where we're ready to get her another kitten. She couldn't be more excited. She has missed Whiskers and Paws from Jonesboro so much. She told me those kitties in Jonesboro were special and she didn't think we would be able to get another kitty as special since they don't make that many of them. :) If only she knew how many kitties there were out there.
Molly's great. So sweet. Almost 9 months old. Mitch is great too. The church had a sweet one year celebration for us this morning, which was so nice of them. I'm involved with the women's ministry this year and am really looking forward to all we have planned. I'm working one day a week at Texas Children's Hospital in the heme-onc clinic. It's fine. It's a good job for me for right now.
Happy school year! Love, Tara
Summer's Here
Well, we had a great time in Jonesboro. Macy had her 2 year seizure appointment in Memphis so we made a trip out of it and spent some great time with our friends there. It was so fun to see everyone. Her appointment went well and we've started weaning her off her seizure med. She's doing really good. We're already 1 ml less per day; it will take till September to get her fully off it. We're prayerful she never has a seizure again!
Summer's been really fun. Macy is taking swim lessons and is doing amazing! We've been swimming a lot. She loves it.
I got a job at Texas Childrens Hospital working 10 hours a week doing the same thing I did at St Jude's. I start next week.
We went to Galveston (see pics) and it had all the potential of being fun. However 45 min into it Macy kicked a jelly fish and you would have thought her foot had been cut off, Lance stepped on a wasp and was lying down with his foot in the air, and Molly couldn't relax and was therefore crying hysterically. So, Mitch, Nana, and I decided we were done - we went and ate seafood and went home. :)
Hope you're all having a great summer.
Love you all so much, Tara
Spring Is Here
I'll keep this short. The weather is starting to warm up here (some would say it's been warm already) :). I think the pools opened today. Macy is learning to ride her bike without training wheels and is doing awesome. She's also really excited about taking swimming lessons. She has been practicing in the bath tub. :) Molly is so sweet. She's doing great. I've been so thankful she hasn't gotten sick one time since we've brought her home from the hospital.
Our super exciting news is our upcoming trip to Jonesboro. We are really excited to see our friends there. Also, Macy will have her 2 year seizure free EEG appt. in Memphis while we're there so we're "anxious" (in a good way) to hear the news. Dr Clarke, after viewing her EEG should be able to tell us whether or not she can come off her current med. I did the math (and my math can get fuzzy but I ran it by Mitch and he agreed) and we will have given her seizure med over 2700 times.
Macy will be 5 on May 7 so I need to get a picture of the two of them - my 5 year old and 5 month old. :)
They're so sweet.
Tara
The Ritz
We had the awesome opportunity to go to Key Biscayne, FL and stay at The Ritz-Carlton Hotel on the beach. It was so fun - a once in a lifetime trip. Mitch got to teach Clarifying The Bible at the YPO (Young Presidents Organization) conference so we flew out on Sunday and returned Wednesday. It was a great trip. It was an adults only conference so Macy stayed at home with Nana but we got to take Molly since she's so little still. She was awesome; she really couldn't have done any better. She'd sleep on the beach or by the pool, even during Mitch's talk!
Our friends, Kennon and Kathryn, and Kem and Norma, all from Memphis, were there so that was great. And we made some new friends too.
Some of the great hotel things -1. they'll do anything for you and are SO nice. The one time we thought they were actually going to say "No" to a request we had it ended up just being a mis-communication. :) 2. They cleaned our room twice a day. I remarked how impressed I was at how clean WE were keeping the room and then realized it was being cleaned morning and night by someone else! Nice. 3. You can sit on the beach and raise a flag and the waitor will come take your order. Loved that! 4. OH - I can't believe I almost forgot this one - the Key Lime Pie. What can I say. It was not green. It was perfect. I ate 6 pieces in the three days we were there. Is that too much?
In case you can't tell, I highly recommend going there. :)
If you look at all those pictures I'm really impressed.

February 20
Unfortunately the only picture I have to upload is that one. BUT at least it's so cute, right?! :) They were sitting on the couch, not posing at all, and Mitch got his IPhone - which isn't known for it's great camera and just snapped that picture. He didn't even look at it after he took it. I happened to be on his phone later on and saw it and couldn't believe how good it turned out. I love it. I love her expression.
We're doing great. Still painting one room at a time. So far we've painted the den, kitchen, eating area, downstairs 1/2 bath, Macy's and Molly's room, and their bathroom. I think I'm going to start the foyer this week. It feels good to get color on the walls!
I have no other news. It's one of those freak moments when I nothing to say.
:) Love Tara
January 25
A quick update: Molly's doing great. She started really smiling and it's adorable. You still have to really work for it but it's worth it. And she's been so healthy and has been on a great schedule. We're so proud of her. Macy's great too. The funniest thing she says right now is, "Mama, I am so sorry to have to tell you this but............" usually it's "I didn't eat a very good lunch at preschool" or "I didn't do what you told me to do." It's really funny though. Mitch is great too. He got sick for the first time in maybe 3 years. Literally. Macy said she had never seen daddy sick and she really hasn't. He has one of those great immune systems. I'm great too; getting more and more sleep. And my sweet girlfriend, Mallery, and her daughter, Susannah, from Jonesboro came for a visit which was so much fun. They were here 4 days. We ate a lot of good Mexican food, played outside with the girls, ran errands, got our bangs cut together, had a "girls date night", got a babysitter and went to the movies, went to church and small group, and stayed up late talking most every night (altho I tried to go to bed but SHE kept talking... :).....kind of) It was a great time.
That's about it for now. We really like the weather here this time of year. Most days are nice enough to be outside and play, and the nights are cool. It's really pleasant and almost always sunny. We're thankful for all the good gifts in our life.
Love, T
January 8
Hi, It's been a month since I last wrote. And a lot has happened since then! Christmas was great. We spent some time in Plano with the Mahers and Mitch's siblings. It was so fun. And we got to see the Fowlers which was so great. Then my mom came back to Katy with us and spent Christmas day here with us and left Jan. 2. Christmas day she said, "I know...why don't we move just the essentials over to the new house." So we decided that was a good idea. That was a Thursday. By noon on Saturday we were essentially all moved in! :)
She worked so hard every day she was here. She packed up the apartment - all the cabinets, closets, etc. She cleaned the apartment. She cleaned the new house, cut and put in drawer and shelf liners for every drawer/shelf in the house, spent 3 hrs cleaning the fridge, she unpacked countless cardboard boxes and reorganized all the stuff, taking many trips to donate stuff. She cooked meals, and got closets organized here, unpacking all my clothes and putting them in drawers. And she played with Macy almost every time she was asked. And then she wondered why she was going to bed at 8:30 every night. :) She really did too much. It was above and beyond.
And Mitch, along with working 8 hrs every day, meeting with people, and preparing for Sunday, moved all the boxes over (after a bunch of men moved the big items) and unpacked a ton of them, hung an awesome storage thing in the garage, moved all the heavy stuff, and took care of Macy every night - getting her in bed.
I did nothing. :) No, I had Molly and with nursing every 3 hrs I was able to help them for about 2 hrs at a time. And try to take a nap in there somewhere since Molly and I still meet every 3 or 4 hrs at night too.
Molly is doing great! We think she's so big but I don't think she's even 8 pounds yet. She's getting fatter though. I think she's going to really smile any day now but we watch her pretty close and think she's smiling every now and then. Or we're just watching her so close we're imagining it. :) Macy smiled at 6 weeks and Molly will be 6 weeks tomorrow (Saturday).
We've gotten to IChat with the Gschwends a couple of times this month which we love doing. And Mallery and Susannah are coming to Katy January 22!! Macy asks me everyday when they're coming. I should have waited to tell her. The suspense may be too much for her.
I'll try and get some pics of the house on here next time. We really like it a lot. Things are going great. I'm so proud of the great job Mitch is doing here and at the church, and so thankful to the Lord for my two healthy little girls.

December 17th, 2008
I haven't posted anything in a little while - been a little busy :). Molly is doing great! We are so thankful. We prayed she wouldn't give us any scares and she hasn't. She's just now starting to act like a normal baby though - gets fussy when the stroller stops moving or the car stops... things like that. I love it! Before she would sleep all the time and wake up to eat so I like seeing some personality. She sleeps great and eats great and is putting on some weight. She still seems so little but she has a roll under her chin now so I know she's growing. :)
We are set to close on the house Friday and are so excited. I think it's going to be great. It's really cute and real close (2 minute walk) to the park and 0.5 miles to the elementary school and our church. We'll plan to move in after the New Year. I had to take that picture of us in front of it so we'd always remember how pregnant I was when we bought it. :) I've been saying it but it's true - we like to do all of our big life changes all at once. We're going to be so bored come 2009! :) HA
My mom and brother, Lance, have been here off and on the past few weeks and we will travel to Plano this Sunday to see our family there before coming back here for Christmas. Macy asks everyday if she can open a present - she has the patience of a ...four year old! :) And Lance let us open our present early - he got us a Wii - so that's been super fun around here. Macy can play golf on there amazingly well considering she won't listen to a word Mitch says about how to play and she insists on using her left hand since she has a bandaid on her right.
That's all I can think of. Have a great Christmas! Think of us in our short sleeves. :) I'm sure it will be in the 70's here that day. Just guessing but I'm fairly confident.
Love you all, The Mahers
Who can Believe it!
Here we are Friday night - Mitch is sitting in the chair by the bed reading, Macy is in our bed watching a Santa movie, I'm sitting next to her and Molly is sleeping between us. Life is good.
We got to the hospital this morning and the doctor gave us the option to go home today verses tomorrow. We talked about it and asked about a million questions then finally came to the conclusion to do it. Mitch said I was going to be just as nervous taking her home on Saturday as I was today (and the doctors agreed :) so here we are.
They took her second chest tube out yesterday. I was able to hold her and nurse her last night- we weren't sure how she'd do after not nursing for 5 days and then having bottles but she did great, with no difficulty at all. I think it relaxed her so much. And she's been nursing ever since and doing great.
So, here we are. (I keep saying that, don't I?) And I have to say we're a bit nervous (can you tell?), listening to every squeak she makes but trying to act calm :) The doctor gave us the run down on what to do if this or that or this happens...but then at the end says, "but you're going to be just fine!" :) nice.
Please pray for her, that her little lungs are strong and that she won't give us any scares at all. And then please pray for us that we'll relax :) and enjoy her.
We love you all and are so very thankful for your support this week. And we're so thankful to the Lord for letting her heal so quickly and for allowing her to come home with us today. There are some very sick babies up there, and we felt very very blessed.
One funny thing that happened yesterday - Mitch and I had gone to get some dinner in the hospital and it was a very long walk. I had been there all day and was exhausted so we saw a wheelchair and I hopped in and he pushed me. It was awesome and definitely the right thing to do considering all I'd been doing all day. BUT, Mitch is not a very qualified wheelchair pusher although he will tell you he should get a job at the hospital doing that for a living b/c he thinks he's so good. He bumped me into about 10 walls, almost dumped me out onto the street as he was steering with one hand, talking on the phone, told people in elevators I wasn't really sick, and then to top it all off he used the legs of the wheelchair to hold the elevator doors open!!! We were laughing so hard the entire time. Then we got home and Macy did the funniest dance I think I've ever seen - I seriously was afraid I may pop a belly stitch from laughing so much. I looked at Mitch and said, "This is going to be fun."
A 4 yr old and 6 day old. Life is good.
Sibling Night
Macy did awesome!!! She got all dressed up in her fancy red dress that triwls and was super excited all day about seeing Molly. It was really a "Macy day" all around since Mitch took her to Chuck E Cheese too. We got there at 4:30 and left at 8. I really wasn't sure how long Macy would want to stay but she loved being there and cried when we left. She kept asking when we could bring Molly home. It was a blast having them together and watching Macy interact with her. She would touch Molly's legs, talk to her, comment on things that we were doing with her or the nurse would do, and analyze how she got the hole in her lung (her ideas about it are pretty far fetched!)
Molly is doing awesome! They pulled her left chest tube out today and said so far it looks good. I bet the right one won't come out until Friday but theres a chance they'll pull it tomorrow. She's tolerating her feeds really well and hasn't had any other complications. The nurse said all the people who come by to see Molly say "oh she's so pretty....why is she here?" They think she looks so healthy and as she reminded me again, fat :) and therefore shouldn't be there. As soon as that right tube comes out they said they'll want me to try breastfeeding again (makes me nervous to do anything with her).
That's all I know for now. Mitch and I will head back in the morning while Macy's at preschool. We are so thankful for these 2 little girls God's given us. They're so precious.

Where do I start!
This is an email Mitch sent with the "run down" on Macy from birth to the present time. I modified it some and will add more to the end. I know most of you know what has been going on but not all of you so here's where it started (and the pics above are in order too)
1. Molly Jean Maher was born Saturday, November 29, 8:45 a.m. in Katy, TX. She was 6 lbs. 3 oz and 19 inches long. Looks like she's going to have a big gap in her teeth like her big sister, Macy! She's so pretty!
2. Sunday morning, around 9:45 a.m., Tara nursed her and she was doing fine but got mad when her diaper was being changed and was crying so hard she developed a pneumothorax in her left lung, causing a collapse of her left lung. The doctor poked a hole in her chest and pulled out the air, thus refilling her lung but then had to put a chest-tube in as the pneumothorax was reforming. That seemed to be working well.
3. THEN Sunday night, around 10:00 p.m., we were informed that she had developed a 2nd pneumothorax on her right side (no idea why), threatening a collapse of that lung. They watched it close, and at 12:00 midnight decided to put a chest-tube in her right side. The hospital and Dr. in Katy were wonderful (we loved the doc - a neonatologist), but a 2nd chest-tube automatically triggers a transfer to a level 3 NICU - which the doc chose Texas Children's. (they have the largest level 3 NICU in the nation)
4. So, at 2:15 a.m., Monday morning, the ambulance arrived from Texas Children's Hospital, and we pulled out at 3:00 a.m.. Mitch followed in the van as Tara stayed behind to get some much needed rest and continue recovering from the c-section. The transfer via ambulance demanded an intubation for Molly. She was placed on a ventilator and was very stable.
5. We pulled into TCH about 3:30 and they got Molly right into their NICU. Mitch saw her around 4:00 a.m., and then checked into a Ronald McDonald room (what a blessing!). Tara got some rest and was ready to be discharged Monday AM.
That's where his email ended. Since then Molly has made great progress. We've seen her every day and you can call anytime 24 hrs a day and with a private parent code talk to the nurse and get all the latest information on your child. They are so nice and helpful and encourage you to be there at the bedside as much as possible. Each nurse only has 2 patients so Molly has been well taken care of. They think she's beautiful and fat. :) She's a big baby for them - they're used to the little 1 pound no fat babies. The nurse today called her a "chunky monkey" at 6 pounds.
Today they were able to take the breathing tube out and will watch her, but are very sure she'll do fine on her own. She is still on oxygen but is breathing very well. She has both chest tubes in but the left one is supposed to come out tomorrow (Wed.). The only thing is - if that left lung redevelops a pneumothorax, they'll have to put another chest tube in. (We are praying very hard this doesn't happen! We want to hold her and until those tubes are gone we can't). No one can. :(
Tomorrow night is sibling night so Macy gets to see her. She's only seen her one time - on Saturday. I'm anxious to get them together and let Macy get to love on her some. It must be weird for her - I"m no longer pregnant, and she knows Molly is "here" but we can't hold her or do any of the things we had talked about doing when she got here. What on earth does a 4 year old think about all that?
So, I'll update more as it comes, but as for now we are doing really good. I can't say enough about how God provides the peace and strength and energy and support His children need when they call upon Him in times of trial. He is always there! He was there with Macy's seizures, and He has been here with all of this, and He promises to never leave us. It's amazing. We know He is in complete control so we can enjoy Him and His good gifts - now and eternally, no matter what each day brings in this hard life - He is still so good and gives such good gifts - like sweet little Molly. I have to say - If you haven't ever made that decision to let God take over your life and let Him have that which He's created - it's the sweetest thing you will ever do. He promises to fill what we abandon. Let Him have your life. You won't regret it. In the good times and bad. (click on "favorite study notes" above and you'll see a "good news" link for more info)
Thanks to all of you who are praying for Molly and us. We know He's answering. Mitch and I were eating lunch at the hospital today and talking about how in times like these when our minds are going everywhere with much to do - it's the prayers of others that carry us. We said the same thing when Macy had her seizures.
Thanks for praying for us. We appreciate it so much.
Love Tara
Thanksgiving Day
Happy Thanksgiving
Well, we're 2 days away from Molly's arrival. We're all so excited. I feel great. Mom and Lance arrived on Tuesday. The Mahers arrive Friday. Then Mitch and I have to be at the hospital Saturday AM around 5:30 and the c-section "should" be around 8. Please pray for us Friday night and Saturday morning if you think about us.
There were some funny things I wanted to tell you about:
There's a picture up top of our front door. If you look at it you'll notice the pear on the floor that fell off the wreath. Well, one night we came home and Macy got to the top of the stairs and saw the pear and she exclaimed, "We got a PACKAGE!!!" :) So I had to take a pic so I'd never forget her saying that.
Also, tonight she was on the phone with Mary Agnes Redding and she told her she had a present for her for Christmas. (news to me) Lately, she goes into her closet and finds things she doesn't want and wants to wrap them up for people. So, of course, she hung up and ran into her closet and was in there looking for a while. Then she yells out, "Mama, do you need your tennis racket anymore?" :) I said yes. So she ended up with her princess shoes and said, "I don't want these anymore...they're too small." Mary Agnes is much older so when we asked her if they'd fit Mary Agnes she replied, "oh yah...she's bigger." ? So, anyway, they are wrapped up under the tree ready to mail. She put them under there and said, "I hope these fit!" She also wrapped up a book for Carson Fowler. (it actually was a really great gift for him - a book she likes a lot) so it's wrapped up too and under the tree. She begged to use princess paper but I said no. (you're welcome, Robby)
Lance, Mitch, and Macy went and got us a tree this morning. It's so cute. I love it. They put the lights on too! (first time in my life I didn't have to do that!! loved it) We've been eating leftovers, taking naps, and watching football all day. It was a great day with family. Hot and muggy outside but still a great day. :)
We are in the process of buying that house I wrote about last time. We hope to close mid December. We had the inspection done and will need to talk about some stuff before we move forward but we're still hopeful it works out.
We will post some pics of Molly here, or email them, or something this weekend. We thought we'd call a handful of people in Jonesboro and ask them to tell others - unless we have wireless at the hospital then we can send an email with pics.
On this Thanksgiving, we are especially thankful to the Lord for sending Jesus Christ that we may know and be reconciled to God through Him. We're also so thankful for His continued provision through all of our life changes this past year! (could we add anymore of them?) He has taken care of us in very real tangible ways and we are truly thankful to Him for that. Also, for Macy and Molly. To be given 2 little girls we feel very blessed.
We love you all. Thanks in advance for your prayers Saturday.
11 Days and Counting!
Molly Jean, the official name of our new baby girl will, Lord willing, be here in 11 days! We've had to move our due date a couple of times. We've decided to deliver here in Katy and my doctor here was a bit reluctant to deliver Molly as early as my doc in Dallas was. So, we moved it from it's original date of November 25 to the Friday after Thanksgiving BUT the OR is closed for elective surgeries on that day (since this is a planned c-section it's elective) SOOOOOO it's going to be Saturday Nov. 29 now!! And I think that's the final date. I hope - b/c my countdown has begun.
Macy's preschool teachers say she is very excited about Molly's arrival and talks about her a lot. She's doing great; had her front tooth pulled and she looks cuter than ever! She got to go on her first field trip last week and got stuck in the mud. Her teacher said she had to pull her out! :) They called it "quick-mud." She had a great time. She really misses her Jonesboro friends and talks about them all the time.
All else is going great. Mitch has been really busy at church as we're planning to move to 2 services on December 7 and there's a lot to think through with that. I'm going to organize the kids greeters team so I'm really excited about that and will start this Sunday, hopefully! I'm making some sweet friends here and we feel more and more at home. I know many of you have been praying for that - thank you!
Health wise we're all fine. I feel great; no problems. No one's been sick so we're truly thankful for that.
OH I almost forgot!! The "Losers"..... lost. :(
It was the last game of the season - the playoff game. They played the #1 team and lost. So they're #2. But someone has to be #2 so I'm still proud of them. :)

November 8, 2008
Hello everyone, We've had a great weekend.
Let me just go ahead and get it out of the way - yes, the Losers WON again!!! I missed it but I heard it was a good one. This part of my update is going to get real boring if they just keep winning each week.
The ladies at church hosted a shower for me this morning. It was so nice and I got a lot of great items. This baby will without a doubt be the best dressed baby girl in Katy. And we think..are pretty sure....but don't hold us to it b/c we're so indecisive....we're going to name her....
Molly Jean
Jean is after Mitch's mom, and we just love the name Molly. Molly Maher. Macy Maher. Too cute.
We've found a house we really like. It's so cute. It's the first one we've looked at that's a real possibility. There's one outside pic up in the pictures, and if we end up buying it I'll post some of the inside. It's got some great things that we love - 1. It's location: 0.5 miles from the church and a great neighborhood. 2. It's cute. (that's mine). 3. It's got a great yard. The back is one big square - all "sprinkler systemed"! :) Love it. And it's a blank slate which for someone like me who loves to "decorate" backyards it's exciting. and 4. The price. It's very reasonably priced which nothing here is. So it's affordable. In fact it's the cheapest thing we've looked at for what we're getting by far. It's a 2 story which isn't what we were looking for, but all the bedrooms are upstairs which is appealing to us at this stage of life. That's the only way I think I could do a 2 story right now; it really could be great for us. The rooms are all big and the master is separate from the other rooms. 4 bedrooms, 2 baths upstairs, and a half bath down. It's only 6 or 7 yrs old, and in great shape. SO, we're very prayerful about it, considering it. If you think of us, please just pray for wisdom and that we'll do the right thing.

Sunday November 2, 2008
Hello everyone, I really don't know who all reads these, but I still enjoy writing it. Oh and I've learned why you may get repeat emails from Shutterfly - even when I haven't made any changes. Apparently, if someone posts a comment it emails it to everyone too. Sorry about that. I won't make changes on it until Saturday or Sunday so if you get one during the week, that's what it is.
Well, Last weekend we went to San Antonio. We didn't make it to Gruene. We got a great Priceline hotel 2 blocks from the Riverwalk and really had a great time. Sunday night there wasn't a breeze to be found, in fact we were eating dinner outside and we were joking how there wasn't even a small breeze - nothing - totally still air! So, Monday morning Mitch gets up and leaves for the funeral and Macy and I head downstairs for breakfast. We ate and went outside and went into shock when we realized the temperature had dropped 40 degrees from the night before and the wind was BLOWING so hard. We were freezing in our shorts. (which is all we brought b/c this is South Texas and it
never occurred to me it would get cold that night). So, we braced ourselves and went for it. We sure weren't going to stay in the hotel with so much to do! We took the trolly to the Alamo and walked all around. We then went to the Riverwalk and rode the ferry. All the while Mitch was at the funeral so it was just us girls.
And because I know you all are waiting patiently to hear...

.... the Losers won again yesterday. They're doing great. Mitch said he made a great interception, ran it back, dodged all these people, etc etc (we weren't there) and ran it in for a touchdown only to all but collapse once he got there. :)
This morning we had our church outreach in Galveston. About 100 people drove down there and spent a few hours cleaning up from Hurricane Ike and doing various jobs with Good News Galveston. The rest of us who didn't go met at the church and addressed envelopes for our Christmas and Easter mail-outs. The little kids colored pictures that will be the Christmas card invitations we send out. They were so cute! Instead of having church this AM we're going to have a worship service tonight.
I think that's all I know. Email me anytime; I always love hearing how you're doing.
Love you all, Tara
Saturday night
Well our week with Mitch gone ended up fine, just long. We did all kinds of girl things, including lots of tickling like she wanted to do. We went to Chuck E Cheese and to friends for dinner, had play group, ran errands, gymnastics..and any other possible thing in between to fill up our time. A personal highlight for me was talking to Mallory for 151 Minutes one night. (my phone had the minutes on it when I hung up and I couldn't believe it!) Mitch said, "what on earth did you talk about?" I don't know but it was fun.
Mitch got in Thursday night. He got to see the Fowlers and Gschwends in Branson Wednesday night which he said was great. I'm so glad they overlapped a night. Wish I could have seen them too!!!!
The Losers won again today! They did great; beat the team that skunked them in their scrimmage game. Mitch hurt his knee. But I'm telling you - they played so good! I was so proud. And Macy has never called out to him more than during this game. At one point, one of the players wives said to Mitch, "you are such a good daddy for a little girl!" b/c he'd look over at her (when he could) and listen and shake his head to her comments. She wanted to tell him about her face getting painted and her pink umbrella..... I tried to stop her but it's hard.
We're heading to San Antonio/Gruene (www.touringtexas.com/gruene/) tomorrow. Mitch has a funeral to attend there Monday so we're going to spend the night and come back Monday afternoon. I'm looking forward to it. We haven't left Katy since we moved in 3 (?) months ago.
I'm due in a little over 4 weeks. (really 6 but we're delivering 2 weeks early) Feel good. The only main difference lately is when I drop something, I stand there looking at it weighing the costs of either picking it up or leaving it. I usually leave it.

Too much effort.
Have a great week.
God is so good.
Sunday October 19
We just got back from taking Mitch to the airport. He flies to Fayetteville, AR tonight to teach his Clarifying The Bible to a group of men then he goes to Branson, MO Monday and teaches Genesis for three days at The Kanakuk Institute. As much as I wish we could have gone, I'm so glad he gets this time to rest and pray. He's had so many early mornings and long days here, he needs this! (Altho he was asking for prayer for how he was going to teach all of Genesis in 3 days so if you think of him, please pray for him).
Macy and I got haircuts. But little did we know the lady charged $65.00 for a woman's haircut! That's just a wash and cut and dry! And Macy's was $24 which is twice as much as I've ever spent for her. I know the overhead is high, but goodness! There's more to the story but I won't bore you; in the end, I do like our cuts so it's fine but I think I'll be finding another girl for next time.
Speaking of overhead, I was in Potbelly's a couple of days ago and I asked the owner how they were doing since they opened a month or so ago. He said that business was great but he told me the rent they charge him there (it's right here near all the shopping) is $7,000/mo and his A/C bill was $6,500 last month. He was laughing that no matter who the area is trying to target that's ridiculous. He said I needed to come back (w/o my free sandwich coupon :) - which he gave us! I'm all out of them so he's fine.
The "Losers" won again yesterday 38-0. They did great. Mitch thinks his feet and knees are getting old b/c they've been hurting lately; I think it's just that flag football - those guys out there take it so seriously! If they drop a pass or make some other mistake, the drama is funny. (to me, not them). We didn't get to stay long b/c Macy hit her mouth and began the downward spiral of crying, then we realized she hadn't had her noon medicine and being nap time we bolted. BUT for the short time we were there she limited her comments to Mitch while he was playing to only a few. When she gets tired and emotional like that she starts lamenting all the people she misses from Jonesboro. I asked Mitch if we could go ahead and get her a kitten now and he shook his head no. :) He said she'll be fine.
So, since Mitch is gone Macy and I made a list of what we wanted to do this week. I felt like Will Ferrell in Elf when he makes the list and adds "snuggle" to it. We have "tickle" on our list, in between go to the Galleria and The Container Store (to get a banana holder like Lindy's).
And one more thing, that is nothing but I'm thankful for - I had to go to the ER Friday night b/c I'd been having this cramp in my calf and the doc wanted to make sure it wasn't a DVT. It wasn't. (Brooke you're the reason I called her in the first place!) 3 hrs in the ER waiting for a "you're fine" - Mitch is convinced they make you wait that long so they can charge you more $$. He's really funny in places like that, once he gets talking about it all. He's definitly someone you want to take along for good humor relief.
Love you all, T
Latest News
We're about to leave for church but I thought I could update you before we head out. It's been a great week; the weeks go so fast! I'm 6 weeks from delivering, Lord willing! She moves around a TON. I like to try and figure out "what body part that is" - an elbow? heel? knee? Macy loves feeling her move; she acts like a doctor, asking me questions like, "does it hurt now?" and "is it the same kind of feeling as last time?"
The "Band of Losers" (see pic above) won 28-0 yesterday. All the women (moms) were at the ladies conference at church so the daddies had all the kids (mostly girls) at the game with no mom on the sideline to watch them! Thankfully, a few grandpa's were in town so they helped. Macy sat with one of them the entire game, she said - under her pink umbrella. She tries to ask Mitch questions as he's about to say "HUT!" and she yells out "Daddy!! Can we go swimming later?" while he's throwing the ball. It's amazing they can still play so well.
Macy's still doing great at gymnastics/ballet/tap altho last week she called me in during her 15 minutes of ballet and pretty much told me she had decided she didn't like ballet all of a sudden.

I said "ok" and sent her back in there and she had a blast.
We've looked at a few houses which has been fun, but we're in no hurry. The weather is still WARM here, hasn't rained. mid to high 80's everyday, but thankfully not humid at all. It just feels like we've been in summer for a long time! Moving in June, in Dallas all summer, then here.
I spoke with Dr Clarke's nurse about weaning Macy of her seizure med in May (assuming she has no seizures before then which we don't anticipate but still pray for) but I'll write about that next time.
Love Tara
Sunday morning
Macy's still asleep and Mitch has already gone up to the church. We really love living here and love the church. The people here are wonderful and very loving, which has the made the transition so much easier. We still talk to our Jonesboro friends weekly which is awesome; Macy's written a few letters/drawn pictures for her friends there.
I have just about 7 weeks left to deliver our "no name yet" baby. She'll get one soon enough! We have some top runners - it's just hard to decide.
It's still warm here, but not humid and there's been a cool breeze. It hasn't rained one time since Ike came through! It's been gorgeous every day. The other day someone asked me if I had gotten my fall clothes out yet and I said, "Macy just went swimming 2 days ago!" I won't get in but she doesn't seem to mind it. Mitch will get in after he's worked out when he's really hot, but they both agree it's cold. Macy will say, "OH YAH!!" when I ask her if it's cold.
I'm meeting with a realtor Tues to look at houses - just to meet her and see what I like.
Life is good. God has blessed us tremendously here and we're very thankful. Looking forward to Christmas already (yes, there have already been Christmas carols played here! :) (it's for Macy, really, she LOVES them.)

(One of her favorite songs (in addition to all her kid ones) is "Baby it's Cold Outside") haha. She likes that one. (By the way, the James Taylor Christmas album is so good. If you don't have it, but it this year)
