April Happenings
April has been off to a busy start for us. On Friday and I took the boys down to the town square and let them hunt Easter eggs. Baylor seems to have fun, Sawyer.....well I guess he was just along for the ride. He'll catch on soon enough though. We ended our church revival the 1st day of April which we had been in preparation for several months now, baseball season has kicked off to a start, Monty and I celebrated our 8th anniversary on the 7th. and yesterday was Sawyer's 1st Easter and my th birthday. Sawyer wore the same outfit to chruch on Easter Sunday that Baylor wore 6 years ago to the day, when my brother and sister in law got married. Be sure and take our online poll above to see if you can tell which one is which! One family member has already guessed wrong!
Baylor will be the Star Student of his class this week. Each week is a different child's turn to be the star student. They celebrate by making a poster about themselves, filling out an "All about me" questionnaire to share with the class, picking a reading book everyday, and they get to bring their favorite snack to share with the class on Friday. Baylor tells me he will also get to be the line leader all week!
We are planning a trip this weekend to for my cousins wedding. I am going with my sister and her child and and Dad. We are going to take the kids to Six Flags and to Fossil Rim (the drive thru zoo) in Glenrose. Baylor is ecstatic and counting down the days. I can't wait to take him. I think it will be so fun. We are planning to ride the Judge Roy Scream together; we have already looked at pictures online! The anticipation is building!
We have begun to practice baseball. I think the season opener will be on April 24th but I've yet to see a schedule.
Another tooth gone!
Alas! Baylor looses the 2nd problem tooth on April 5th right before church. I think we can finally cancel the dentist appt! He had it wiggled down to just hanging on a thread the night before and finally just gave up on it and went to bed. Luckily, he was able to get it out before church that morning. His permanent teeth that were coming up behind are almost as big now as his baby teeth beside them!
Baylor looses his first tooth on March 23rd!
We've had a big ordeal this past week when Baylor mentioned in passing to me that he had something rough behind his teeth. Upon further inspection, it was determined that his permanent teeth were growing in behind his baby teeth! Oops! His pediatrician’s office thought that we would definitely need to take him into the dentist. Of course, this did bring a great deal of anxiety to Baylor and us! When I called to get him in, they said it really wasn't that uncommon and just to have him work them loose; the did go ahead and schedule us an appt for May though just in case. A couple of days later we went out to eat with Mom. Because he had ate so good, she gave him 3 quarters to go and get some gum balls. Well, needless to say, he put all three in his mouth and about the 15th chew he let out an ear piercing scream! The tooth had broke loose! :) He wiggled on it for several days then finally Monday as he played in his room and continued to work it out it broke loose! He was soooo excited! He screamed...."Mom, my tooth!" He came running in to show me and was proud to say it didn't even hurt! He said he was so glad he wouldn't have to go to the dentist to have it pulled, he would give anything to not have to do that. He would even give all his toys away. (Can't say I blame him!) The tooth fairy made her little visit and even left the tooth as a keepsake for him. Nonnie gave him a dollar as well.
Now we still have one more tooth that needs to go, but I'm betting it will be out by May as well!
Larry Arrives!
Well Monday was a great day for Baylor. He got to bring Larry the Llama, the class pet, home from school. He was so excited that he got picked to take him home! Lucky for Larry and Baylor, Tuesday and Wednesday were both bad weather days so Larry got to spend a couple of EXTRA days at our house. Check out Larry's and Baylor's pic. up top!
I have spent the past couple of days in computer bliss (well....bliss is not exactly the word I would use to describe it...). Apparently our computer is completely OUT of storage space. We knew that the computer had been getting slower and slower, but I just thought it was due to a new printer that had been installed. I guess the problem was that it needed a bit of spring cleaning. Fun! I have freed up a little space but still have ALOT of work to do. My friend Heather suggested I look into getting an external hard drive. I just laughed and told her I already had one of those but it was full too! ha! Too many cute videos of my babies!
Monty finished installing a wood burning stove in our home a couple of weeks ago. It has been nice! It stays around 80 degrees in our living room now! I admit that I wasn't crazy about the idea of having one, just because our house is already pretty crowded; but it has been a nice addition. It was certainly good over the past couple of days; our heater never came on! Baylor and Monty enjoy roasting marshmallows in it; Sawyer and I just soak up the heat!
Hope you are all staying warm! Only 8 weeks until spring! Thank goodness!!!!!
Christmas
December proved to be a very busy month for us between school and getting ready for the holiday; we are now enjoying a much anticipated holiday break! It has been nice to take a break from our combined 15+ trips we take into on any given week. Ha! (For those of you that don't know....we live in Slaton, but Baylor's school is in .....about 25 mins. away). Monty's work actually let him off on Christmas Eve and Day and also New Year's Eve and Day which both happened to bump up next to his regular off days so he was home with us for 4 days at Christmas and is off now for New Year's. That hasn't happened in FOREVER so it has been nice! We have all enjoyed sleeping in and just hanging out around the house.
Before the break, and Dad came up to see Baylor's Christmas program at school. The night before, we loaded up the kids and took them to see the Miracles on Parade. It turned out to be a pretty nice day for it, warm that afternoon, but by the time the sun went down it got pretty chilly. Nevertheless, not near as bad as it could have been! I had never been before so it was fun to take them and watch the parade. Bob got us all hot chocolate; Baylor loved that!
The Christmas program at school was very good. Baylor sang two songs with his classmates at the beginning of the program; they all looked adorable up there! His class hosted their Christmas party on the 19th. They made a Christmas tree picture, peanut and jelly reindeer sandwiches, candy canes and also got to ice a cookie. He seemed like he had a good time! He LOVES school and his teacher. She is such a blessing to us! I can tell how much she really cares for the kids and Baylor thinks the world of her!
Once school was out we were off to my sister’s house on the 22nd for my nephew's 6th birthday party. Monty got to come with us this time! It took us FOREVER to get off. I planned to leave around 10am....we finally got out of the house at 4pm! It was a little stressful getting off, but once we did it was a lot of fun. Baylor had a blast playing with his cousins! On Tuesday, we went over to Trey and Sherra’s house and had Christmas. We played bingo for prizes, a tradition with my family, which is always fun. The men kinda got cheated this year though; there weren’t many "man-ly" prizes. They did however win some pretty fuzzy socks and Christmas decorations among other things. :) Trey (my brother) finally wore down and just stole a flashlight off the prize table. He said it was his house, he was taking the prize! Ha! Baylor had fun playing this year because he could actually read the numbers! He played to win a miniature Wall E, a candy peppermint glass, and a sticky hand. Once he got those, he was done!
We had Christmas over at Monty's parents on Wednesday night. Baylor unwrapped his first present to find a pink blow dryer (box). Before even opening it, he looked at Becky (his aunt) and said "here, you can have this". It was funny! She encouraged him to look inside and behold, there was a Jack Sparrow ring and necklace. He was glad he didn't give that away after all!
We let Baylor open his gifts from us on Christmas Eve (Santa came Christmas morning). Monty got him two soft air pellet guns which he was thrilled about when he opened, declaring Monty the “best Dad ever”! Santa brought him thousands of the little pellets you shoot and he has had more fun just playing with those which shouldn't have been any big surprise to me because every time we go to a park he is fascinated with picking them up. I didn't even know what they were until we brought some home one day and Monty enlightened me.
I gave him a new pair of boots and some “cowboy clothes just like Quint’s” which he was also thrilled to get. He has been asking for some for quite some time now since he had outgrown the one's his Nonnie had got him. I had him pick out some boots one day when we were in boot city, then secretly got them and saved them for Christmas.
Santa brought more goodies on Christmas day and both the boys have been busy ever since playing with their new treasures!
It's hard to believe that school will start back on Monday. Where did the time go?
Hope you all had a great Christmas and will have a very blessed New Year! We love you all!
Monty, Kelly, Baylor and Sawyer
Christmas is almost here!
Thanksgiving was crazy but fun. The kids had a great time playing together. They ran through the house playing army men most of the night and even played a little Wii bowling. I posted some pics in the November section above.
It's hard to believe that Christmas will be here in just 3 short weeks! Baylor, of course, is so excited! He got a letter from Santa in the mail today (thanks Jackie or Cherie!) He was eager to write back and has already had a list made out for a week or two now. This year Baylor has his sights set on an Ironman action figure, a pirate ring and necklace, a "pretend coconut" (I'm not really sure where that comes from?), Palifico (an action figure from Pirates of the ), Wall E and Eva. Santa shopped early this year anticipating the economic downturn so once the list was made out, what Santa thought would definitely be on there and what actually made the list were two different things. Oops! Too bad for Santa, he could have got off easier than what he was anticipating! It's a good thing Santa has that toy factory to fall back on, and even better that some of Baylor's relatives are working there this year!
Christmas Pics
We had our Christmas pics done today at Portrait Innovations. They took 122 photos....a little overwhelming for me to sort through without at least a couple of hours! I have posted some of my favorites up above. The boys both did really good, Baylor got a little tired at the end though. He is at that stage where taking pictures really doesn't seem fun or cool!
We are SOOO glad to be out of school this week! We will have lunch over at Mike and Cindy's for Thanksgiving then my family will all be at our house that night. Baylor is excited about Blaze and Quint coming over to play!
Sawyer has been busy learning how to play in his mega saucer. He got aggravated today when he couldn't hold onto his toy. It just wasn't doing what he wanted it too! He has really begun to babble over the last couple of days. Monty and I are both trying to get him to say "DaDa & MaMa". He's rolled over 1 other time since my last post; other than that we have not seen any more rollover action!
Monty finally finished taking down all the windows around the house, repainting around them, and caulking. He has been busy with that over the last couple of months; I know he is glad to be done. Check out the pics above of his and Baylor's handy work!
Until next time....
Hope you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving!
Daddy does "Community Helper Day"
Monty came on Thursday November 6th to share about what he does as a railroad engineer. I think Baylor was excited to have him come! He showed the kids pictures of the inside of an engine and also the different types of cars they transport. His company was nice enough to donate coloring books, pins, pencils and zipper pulls for the kids. Monty ran over pennies for them as well and handed them out. That was the big hit! Be sure to look at the pictures above. His teacher was nice enough to email them to us!
It's clean!.....(well, cleaner than it was anyway)
Alright, so the house has been a total disaster since about a month after Sawyer was born. You know, about the time he quit sleeping all day and all night. :) ha! Even though he is an ANGEL of a baby, I have been reminded of how hard it is to get stuff done with a little one! I was & am drowning with stuff that needs to be picked up or cleaned! Sawyer sleeps great through the night, but he really only cat naps several times throughout the day which makes it hard. Usually 2-3 thirty minute naps a day. Monty helps out a lot, but he has stuff he's got to get done on his "off" days as well. I called Mom and asked for her help! She came up and watched the kids ALL day Saturday so I could do nothing but clean and feed on demand. It looks SO much better! Thanks Mom!!! You're a lifesaver!
Keeping the Faith
I can't tell you what a true blessing it has been to watch Baylor grow spiritually since he asked Christ into his heart. Because he is only 6, Monty and I both asked ourselves if he was really ready for baptism and wondered if he really understood what it meant to ask Jesus into his heart. It is amazing how his decision is reaffirmed to me constantly that the little guy knew exactly what he was doing! He tells people about Christ and about his baptism all the time; he truly is a witness to me! He was telling his barber about being baptized the other day. When he got through cutting Baylor's hair he asked him to hold on for a second. He went outside of the shop, to his car, and came back and presented Baylor with a "cowboy" bible. It was a New Testament bible with cowboy pictures and scriptures scattered throughout the pages. Baylor was so proud to get it. When we got home, I went in his room to find he had his three bibles very purposely displayed in the center of his bookcase. He had set them up as if he was so proud of them and wanted to put them there as a constant reminder to himself that Jesus was in the center of his life. It was the sweetest thing; and to think he had done this himself. He teacher has said how he has shared Christ with her and says he is a wonderful prayer leader in class.
I am so proud of him. He has such a good heart. And to think I ever doubted he was ready! Jesus knew his heart!
Halloween has come and gone!
It's hard to believe it is already November! The kids had a great Halloween. Our church held a harvest festival so we went to it on Friday night. Baylor had a good time running around and playing with the other kids...especially the other ninjas :) He won lots of good prizes! Monty walked around with him; I was in charge of taking photos of people that attended. Sawyer was a big hit in his "cowboy" clothes. I love him in that little hat! It is toooo cute!!!
Baylor finished up flag football in mid October. His team finished 3rd. They did a really good job! I think he had fun playing; but he says he likes baseball better.
Bob took Jennifer, Blaze, Baylor and me to the Nebraska Tech game on Oct. 11th. Baylor practiced up the whole week before the game learning the words to the fight song. He went around singing "we will hit them we will wreck them hit 'em wreck 'em Texas Tech". It was cute! I think the boys had fun at the game. The highlight for them was the band!
Sawyer continues to grow and change! He has really picked up grasping things with his hands. He likes to hold his rattles and is trying his best to sit up! He has started eating oatmeal at night; he's still not sure if he really likes it or not yet. He's still sleeping through the night.......IN HIS CRIB!! Yeah for Sawyer!!!
September Pictures
Baylor and I took on the task of cleaning out his closet recently! Wow! The word task is an understatement! It was filled to the brim with toys, toys, TOYS! We took EVERYTHING out of his closet and started with a clean slate. In the process, Baylor had decided to move his humidifier, which I might mention, was completely full of water, off of his desk and onto his bed. In the midst of all the clutter, I didn't notice that it had been moved for I'm sure at least an hour or two. Well......guess what happened? It dumped the entire bucket of water onto his mattress and soaked clear down to the foundation! What a mess! Of course, Monty was at work during all the excitement, so Baylor pushed the mattress down the hall while I pulled so that we could get it out of the house before it ruined our NEW carpet! It left a water trail all the way through the house; thank goodness that we have hard flooring throughout most of it! Our neighbor was nice enough to help me carry it out onto the front porch to let it dry. It was craziness! It all worked out though and Baylor learned a valuable lesson about humidifiers! ha! Was I upset? No, not really, how would he have known that would happen.
Baylor had his first flag football game on Sat. (Sept. 20th). They all did really good! His team lost by 2 points but played a very impressive game. Baylor really liked wearing his mouthpiece. It's so cool!
He bought me a dozen beautiful pink roses the other day while out shopping with Nonnie. She had taken him to Wal-Mart to spend a couple of gift cards he had. He picked out a toy and as they were walking out the door he spotted the roses and wanted to buy them for me. At first he liked the red ones, but she asked him about the pink ones and he decided that they were the ones they should get. He was SOOOO proud to give them to me. He said...."I bought these with my own money, because I love you so much" Of course Mom didn't really let him spent his own money. She said watching him give them to me was well worth it! How sweet was that?! I am so blessed to have him. He has such a kind, tender heart! He's my "beautiful baby boy"! !!! Love ya little man!!!
Week of Sept 8th
Amazingly Sawyer has slept anywhere from 8-10 hours straight for the last 4 nights! That boy never ceases to amaze me! He is such a joy to have! He laughed at me today while we sat on the front porch doing patty-cake. He had the biggest grin on his face and his little laugh was soooo cute.
Baylor's Halloween costume came in the mail today. He was thrilled; as he has been anticipating its arrival ever since we ordered it last Wednesday. He has been on the lookout for UPS trucks everywhere we go. He picked out a Ninja costume from Target. He wanted Sawyer to be a Ninja too, but I had my heart set on this adorable fireman costume I had seen. It came with Baylor's, but it looks HUGE! I'm not sure he will be able to wear it!
Baylor started flag football practice on Sunday. His first game will be on the 20th of September. They have him playing a receiver in practice right now. It is cute to watch them "huddle up".
Baylor thinks a tooth may be loose. I felt it; I really think it might be this time! We will see where it takes us. This is the first one for him. I am anticipating some intense moments in the very near future!
Monty gets a new pickup!....(new to him)
Monty finally got another pickup today! He needed one bad!!! He has always dreamed of having a diesel and now he has one. We all like it a lot! He had been looking at getting something different for at least a year. We had called about one on Ebay that was in Lubbock and the guy told us he had another one he had not yet put up for auction so we decided to go look at it. It had dual DVD headrests in the back!!! I showed Baylor and he said "Daddy lets buy this truck!" He was so excited....and it was a real good selling point for me as well! We have enough room to go somewhere as a family now, and I can even fit back there with the kids! Wow!
Pictures coming soon!
Sawyer is Growing - 2mos. old!
Sawyer laughed out loud for the first time on Aug. 27th (Trey's birthday) while watching a ceiling fan spin at Mike and Cindy's house. It was very quiet, but you could hear it! He's so cute!
I had to run by the doctor's office to pick up something for Baylor and I had them weigh him. He is 13Lbs. 6 Oz. and 24 inches long! He is 90% on weight and 85% on height at 2 months old!
He is still a wonderful baby! He sleeps at least one 5 -8 hour stretch at night then goes back to sleep for another 4 hours!
Baylor's fishing trip
Baylor and Monty went down with Mike and Cindy (Grandma & Papaw) to Port Aransas to fish for about a week before school started. Check out their fishing trip pictures! Papaw bought Baylor a pirate ring which he is sooooo proud of! He also got a pirate sword. They spent their days fishing and at the pool. Baylor swam for the 1st time without his floaties!
Baylor Accepts Christ!
Baylor accepted Christ on August 14 after attending Vacation Bible School at our church in Slaton. He came home Thursday evening and asked Jesus into his heart. It was apparent to us he had been considering it all week by the questions he had been asking. We talked about being baptized with him that night, then the next morning he was ready to go to church and have it done! He went down during an altar call on Sunday the 17th and spoke with Bro. Cleve. He was baptized during the morning service on August 24th, the day before he began his 1st day of Kindergarten.
Monty, Sawyer and I took Baylor to school yesterday (Aug. 25th). It was his 1st day of Kindergarten at Southcrest in Lubbock. He was excited to go, after meeting his teacher Mrs. Harris at orientation. He has 7 boys in his class and 3 girls. I picked him up and his whole class was wearing star sunglasses. He got 3 stickers for good behavior and told me he learned how to read and ride his bike without training wheels. Wow! Impressive!
Sawyer is getting big and really starting to develop a personality. We were able to capture some of his first smiles on Saturday August 16th. Monty made funny sounds at him while I tried to "capture the moment". He had smiled a few times at us before, but he seemed to really get it down on this day. He has been smiling every day since.
The 1st picture is Baylor.
The 2nd is Sawyer.
