Kiersten got her braces on Friday and they look so cute.  They go just below her knee and behind her leg and then underneath her foot.  She doesn't seem to be bothered by them...yet.  Her legs seem to be straighter when she is sitting with them on.  We'll see how they work!!

We just found out yesterday that Kiersten will be getting her leg braces this Friday!!  We are so excited and can't wait to see how she reacts with them!!

Yesterday Kiersten had a routine doctor appointment.  She saw pretty much everyone including physical therapy.  Liz Kelly, the physical therapist, was not happy that she was only going to be fitted for braces in April.  She wanted to talk with the orthotist and she if she could get it bumped up.  She came back with great news!  Kiersten got fitted for her braces yesterday!!!!!  We are so happy and can't wait to get them to see how she does with them.  They said they should be ready in a couple of weeks.  So, hopefully she gets them in February!!!

Christmas was very exciting for us this year since this was Kiersten's first Christmas at home.  It was so great to watch her try and open her presents and make her "O" face when she saw what it was!  We also got to have Christmas dinner at our house and Kiersten and Megan's daughter, Brianna, got to play.

 

For New Year's we decided to stay home and play our Wii that we got!  Kiersten actually stayed up for the stroke of Midnight and then went to bed.  She was a tired little girl!

 

Oh!!  Still now teeth yet for Kiersten!

Kiersten was scheduled yesterday for an MRI just to check and make sure everything is working right with her shunt.  Her appointment was for 8 am so she couldn't have anything to eat after midnight.  Poor little thing!!  Well, everything went ok.  She had to be given gas to be knocked out.  I had to hold her and they put a mask over her face.  I hated it because she was crying the whole time.  I almost started crying myself.  It was horrible to hear her cry knowing that I couldn't do anything.  After they knocked her out I had to leave the room.  Well, about 20 minutes later the anesthesiologist came over and said she was a hard stick for the IV.  After her MRI was done they showed me all the places they tried.  Needless to say she has some black and blues.  They tried a couple times on the inside of each wrist.  They tried twice in her head, yes I said her head.  They then finally got a vein on the top of her left hand.  The doctor is going to review the MRI and then call us if there is anything that needs to be discussed.  Oh, when the MRI was done Kiersten opened her eyes real big and was happy as can be!

Yesterday was Kiersten's birthday party.  We had so much fun!!  Kiersten was getting a little sleepy and I figured it was time to do her personal cake.  At first she didn't want to dig in to it.  So, I took her hands and put them in and then gave her a taste of the cake.  After that it was all over.  She loved the cake!!!  She kept going back in for more.  After 5 minutes I took the cake away and she started to cry.  After that we opened her presents.  She was more interested in the cards than the gifts.  Thank you to everyone for all the gifts!!  All in all in was a very good day.  Kiersten was ready for a nap after everyone left!

Well, yesterday was trick-or-treat.  Kiersten was all dressed up in her costume as a punk rocker.  She made cupcakes and decorated a pumpkin at the babysitter.  When daddy got home we went to visit everyone (Nanny & Grampy, Grandma & Grandpa Powell, Mimi, Aunt Patty & Uncle John, Aunt Anita, Grandma & Grandpa Stoudt, and Nan & Harold).  Needless to say we had a busy night and Kiersten was ready to go to bed when we got home.
