Blanca (now Pumpkin) is our sweet puppy mill girl. It was last Halloween (hence the name) when I took her home from an event to foster her. She loves to play ball and is so good on her leash. She's so social and mellow, and I'm thinking of taking her to classes to be a therapy dog.

Blanca now pumpkin with her brother Blanco, formerly Merlin. She and Blanco are two peas in a pod, and they LOVE each other, and we love her, too!

Thomas and Hank Stapp09.jpg
Da Boyz are doing so well! It's been almost a year since they came to us, and they have settled in quite well. As I type this, they're laying in a pile UNDER my desk (no small feat, as it leaves no room for MY feet!). The attached photo was taken yesterday as they were stalking a squirrel in the locust tree. They have quite the senses of humor; even Thomas the Serious laughs quite a bit now. And Hank is ever the goofy Lab, who has learned to sit and wait for Thomas to finish his meal before attacking the leftovers (wish I could say the same for Sandy - she just bulldozes ahead sniffing for whatever she can find). Thanks again, RROC - they're truly gems! The Stapps

We hope to come to one of the events someday and show off our dog that we got from you guys. Thatcher is doing very well. - Dawn Swift

Harold (now Hank) is doing very well. He is such a big goof ball! Draggie lasted until a week ago, so now we need to take a trip to Petsmart so he can pick out a new toy. Hope you enjoy the pictures!

Ditto now known as Laika was adopted out by RROC in November of 2009!
Ditto's new home writes:
I drove by your neighborhood on Youngfield today and it made me think of you!
I thought it would be fun to send you some info about Ditto (who became Laika), whom we adopted from you last November. She has been the greatest addition to our family and we love her to bits!
Chris and I looooooove her and now she's our official daughter because we got married last month! Anyway, I hope things are going well at the RROC and that you're having a nice summer. Laika says hi!

My parents live in Evergreen and are always asking to babysit her because she's such a friendly and well-behaved dog. Here are some pictures from a recent trip to Bear Creek Lake Park where my dad took her on a kayak ride.

We also have a big backyard veggie garden and she loves to help us harvest by stealing tomatoes from our tomato plants! Thank you so much for bringing her to us.

Nemo_09.jpg
Hello,
We are so thrilled to give you an update on how lucky we are to have adopted 6 year old black lab Nemo to our family.
He has settled right into our family! Our boys Masson(8) and Carter(4) love helping take care of him and of course giving him lots of love.
Nemo had some teeth problems and has had 3 teeth removed and is now doing great! His smile is better than ever and he's happy to be pain free!
Nemo is a wonderful part of our family and we just were not complete without him. We are not sure if he could be any sweeter or well behaved. He is truly a blessing.
We are so thankful for all the work that RROC does and is doing to help us with his teeth. We think Nemo was meant for our family and we are proud to be his forever home!

Cricket_09.JPG
Hi Amber!
Thanks for your email. Cricket is doing great. She was spayed about a week ago and is healing nicely. We really appreciate all the rescue has done for us. Erin, Sharon and Ruthann are all wonderful and Cricket is our little angel.
We've been working on crate training...she is a little better at it but it's still not her favorite place to go! She goes on long walks with me and runs with my husband. She loves her Kong and she loves to chase the ball. Her and our black cat, Lucky, are great friends - probably because gentle Cricket always lets Lucky be the "alpha cat!"
I'd be happy to do any home visits for the rescue, especially in the northern Colorado area - I know that there aren't a lot of volunteers up here and you probably get a lot of potential adoptive families from Greeley, Fort Collins and Loveland. Just let me know.
Here are a few pictures of our baby. The first one is at Erin Prince's house, the day we adopted her (that's me and my husband).
Warmly, Kristen

Cricket_09_1.JPG
The second is after her first trip to Petsmart, where we picked out a couple of toys, and the third is Cricket's favorite napping place, our futon! You are welcome to send them along in your distribution of updates.
Britain_09_1.jpg
Britian -- now Lucy -- has more than settled into her new home. She is the social butterfly of the block! Walking her is a fun but interesting challenge because she insist on getting a belly rub from every person we encounter and playing with every dog along the way.
I think she's a little disappointed that our cat has decided not to be her playmate, but at least the two are peacefully ignoring each other.

Britain_09.jpg
Lucy had a puppy wellness visit and the remainder of her vaccinations last week at our vet, and she now weighs 28 pounds.

Thank you so much for the handbook, it is helping me quite a bit. Bella (Reagan) is doing well.
My other two dogs did not quite like her at first but are getting better every day. My younger dog Sara has even shared her toys.
Bella likes Sara's toys more than her own. She has grown alot in two weeks. I attached some pictures, and yes, you can distribute them to other members of your group.
Thanks again,
Mary

Molly (formerly known as Whitney) is thriving and is a joy to the Kirkpatrick household. She was spayed about two weeks ago and although she had to receive antibiotics she has fully recovered. We will definitely forward any new pictures we take. Thanks again for bringing Molly to our home. We love her!!

We just got back from a week long vacation in the mountains and Farrah was great. We hiked with her which really meant that we hiked and she slept in the backpack with me right behind. We also took turns carrying her. She was very popular with everyone in town.
It normally takes about five minutes to walk through Snowmass and it took us an hour with everyone wanting to pet Farrah. Farrah loves our older dog, Buddy, but I don't know why because Buddy doesn't do much these days. He is twelve and really slowing down.
Our cat, Lacey, is tolerating Farrah. She no longer hisses at her and they have touched noses a couple of times. Farrah seems to like the cat poop so I have had to put a gate up to block the kitty room.
Thanks for everything. We love our new addition to the family! She is wonderful and sweet. Kirsten
Taft_09.JPG
Let us get through puppyhood and we may be willing to foster or help in some other way. Here are some pictures of Farrah (AKA Taft). Farrah was named by our 10 year old after we promised he could name her. Anyway, here are some pics.
Tweed_09_1.JPG
You thought Tweed might be going blind and we adopted him knowing it might be the case. He has congenital cataracts that don't typically progress, and we are finding that is the case.
He is still afraid of shadows, has no depth perception but manages great. He is mellow and sweet and wonderful with the kids. We thought he might be deaf when we first got him as he didn't respond to our calls at all.
It seems he was just despondent then - he is certainly interactive now! He is such a snuggler :) We just celebrated a year of him being with us. He learns quickly, and we can get him really playful at times, although I don't think he was used to playing at all. His dog social skills are excellent - so we always guess at his past, he seems as though he was around other dogs.
He doesn't seem to be abused, as he has no anxiety around people, but it's as though no one every spent time with him playing. Do you know any more on his past? He does his little doggie head dance as we call it every day when he knows he is going for his walk - the highlight of his day.
Tomorrow is the kids first day of school (the main reason we didn't go to the event today as much as we would have loved to - we plan to next year!) Tweed lives for the trip to drop them off and pick them up each day. He will be so happy to start that again! He has been missing going on errands with me, with the weather so hot I can't leave him in the car at the moment. But we appreciate everyday that there is a foster program for these dogs.
Not only is it a better environment for dogs to go into a home rather than a shelter, but it is better for the adopting families as the dog's temperament and personality is well know so it can be fit to the adopting family.
We had to have a kid friendly dog who didn't jump fences - and Tweed is perfect. We so wish we had the special essence of those who foster dogs - who love the dogs so much they can do this for them and still let them go. I know Adam and I couldn't let any dog who came in our house go, otherwise we would volunteer readily.
It is an incredible person who can do this - and we thank you for the addition to our family. The photos are the life of Tweed - just to let you know he has truly surrounded by love and companionship and that what you do makes a huge differences in the dogs and owners lives, Thank you so much, Sandra, Adam, Ainsley, Escher & TWEED :)

He had never been in water and we are trying to tell him he's a golden and it's all about the swimming. He will now go in water up to his tummy.
McKinley_09.JPG
Hi! I wanted to let you know that McKinley has a new name and is doing really well. Her new name is "Brie".
The boys named her (Brie McKinley Frazier) and she is doing quite well. Tucker, our older dog, has conceded her everything except his bones (including his food!) She is sleeping through the night (in our bedroom) and loves the cats who are quite disgusted with her enthusiasm for them!
Fortunately she weighs about 12 to 13 pounds and they are both 16 pounders who elevate themselves to any conceivable heights to escape her attention! She has dug a small burrow under our deck that she loves to cool off in and plays with most anything - pine cones are a favorite. The sprinkler is quite intriguing!
She has lots of friends. She has gone to Fairview High School for athletic registration, South Hills Middle School for regular registration (and was adored by every teen age girl, and most boys for close to 2 hours), the dentist office, the hair dresser, McGucken's (famous for their employees with dog cookies in their green vests!), soccer practice, football practice, the tennis pro shop, the tennis racquet store, REI, the travel agency, the bank, Block Buster, and Whole Pets for her first bath to get the pine sap off her back- not her best moment but she loved the cookies later!
The neighborhood kids play with her in the local park and she really likes the toddlers, probably because they are so sticky....
Brie has decided that the kitchen is a magical place to be near; lots of great smells and the occasional "drop" that is so tasty.
Her favorite place to be in the house is anywhere I am, usually over a register. I can't tell you how many times I have almost stepped on her.
Our vet approves of our choice in puppies. We are feeding her Wellness Puppy, which she thoroughly enjoys. No tummy upsets with the transition of foods. We also have her on fish oil and acidophilus, mixed in baby food. She will have her next puppy vaccination series at the end of the month. We are guessing Brie and her siblings might be Lab (mom) and Lab/Border Collie (dad). She is exhibiting herding and nipping behaviors and is a finer bone than a lab only.
We're toying with the idea of a genetic test. We'll pass along any results if we do this. If someone else from the group of adopter's does this and lets you know the results, please let us know. It would be kind of cool to know. We'll probably have her spayed after she completes her vaccination series, around 5 or 6 months old.

Hi Ladies,
I realized I have'nt shared one of my 100 new photos of our Ruby... We adore her! She is a great little girl, who I believe won't be very "little" for long. She is almost 100% potty trained. She loves people, other dogs and already knows her basic commands.
The leash will be my biggest training goal as I assume she will be more on the large size. She does better each day. We are so glad to have her and know she will be happy and loved with us throughout her life...she deserves it!
Hope everyone is doing well...
Debbie B

Delta's off to his new home and what a great great home he will have.
Kim and her son Adam adopted Kabota (Lyla Mae) one of the Tractor pups. Lyla Mae hit the door running and went directly to her new brother and the gloves were off. Both of their tongues were about 4 foot long by the time they headed home.
It was cheap shot after cheap shot truly love at first sight. Kim and Adam had nothing to do with this adoption it was all Lyla Mae. Kim was hoping she could meet her new boy once they wear each other out.
