Hello family and friends! We are incredibly excited to announce the arrival of our most precious Ely William Tedford. We are officially a family of three (family of five counting Maggie and Doogs).

Ely arrived on February 10, 2009 at 8:19 in the morning. He weighed 6 pounds, 10 ounces and was 20 1/4 inches. As you can see, he was born with a full head of blond hair! He is a healthy, beautiful little boy and we can't be happier!

Ely is now 9 months old!!!

Oops! We let a few months go by without an update. Needless to say, we've been busy. We can't believe that Ely is now 9 months old! Time really does fly by. Ely just had his 9 month check-up where we discovered he weighs just over 20 pounds and continues to be healthy.

Ely just celebrated his first Thanksgiving and enjoyed his meal of turkey, stuffing, gravy, and sweet potatoes all blended into mush. Didn't look very appetizing, but he seemed to love it:) Sadly to say, we weren't able to spend the holiday with our Indiana or Arkansas families, but we're looking forward to visiting with everyone during a trip in December. This year, Ely and I will travel to Indiana to spend some time with Maya, Kai, Auntie Jen, Uncle Dom, and, of course, Didi and Papa. Then, we'll get in the car with Didi and Papa and head down to Little Rock to meet up with Drew and celebrate an early Christmas with Drew's side of the family (Mimi, Papaw, Big Papa, Big Mama, and "Grapes" (Drew's Grandma)). Ely's never going to want to return to Arizona after spending a week being spoiled by all his grandparents.

We're excited to say that Ely just began crawling a couple weeks ago and recently discovered the entire house is his playground. His favorite sound is "Da-Da" even though I've been training him to say "Ma-Ma" since he was in the womb. I realize it's all developmental, but I'm sure Drew's gloating just a little inside.

We're looking forward to Ely's first Christmas and before long, his first birthday! It doesn't seem possible! Drew and I decided we needed to travel to a destination besides our typical vacation spots of Indiana and Arkansas, so we will be going to Walt Disney World in January! It will be a BIG family vacation with my parents, Jen and her family, and Dominic's Mum, sister and brother-in-law. While we realize it is a bit soon for Ely to experience his first time at Disney World, we can' resist the opportunity to get a picture of him in his first set of mouse ears! Priceless!!!

Ely is now 5 months old!

Ely just keeps growing in size and character. We figure he's going to be quite a talker since he is hardly ever silent. He's now yelling "ahh", "bababa", making gurgling sounds (his new favorite) and laughing all the time. He lost his baby hair, but has replaced it with some very handsome light blond locks (taking after his mama, of course). The hair and the constant chatting is about the only thing he got from his mama. As most people say, his face is all Drew. He began eating cereal this month and has gotten quite good at it. However, he thoroughly enjoys making "rasberries" while eating, spraying his cereal EVERYWHERE!

In June, we were able to make a trip home to Chesterton, Indiana to surprise my Mom for her 60th Birthday! Having had no idea we were coming, our arrival evoked much surprise and many happy tears. We had a wonderful time celebrating Didi's birthday and taking the kids to "KiddieLand" in Chicago. At Kiddieland, Ely got to ride his first ride....the ever exciting mini train. It was almost more entertaining seeing Daddy Drew sitting on the little train seat. From playing drums to riding a kiddie train... My how things have changed!

Unfortunately, this month was not all happiness, as we endured a great loss in our family. We had to say "goodbye" to our sweet, beautiful Maggie. Maggie had been with me since just after my college graduation. She had travelled with me to Albuquerque, Chicago, and Phoenix and was the only constant in my life over the past 10 years. She absolutely loved Drew and changed him from not wanting a dog in his apartment (when we first met), to having two dogs and cleaning up dog poop in the backyard. Frequently referred to as "The Rug", she was not exactly energetic, but she was the sweetest, furry (very furry) friend a family could have. We will miss seeing her in the morning, lying in the backyard with her face to the sky, smelling the air as if it were intoxicating; the way she rested her head or her paw in my hand while I was petting her; her barking at the TV whenever a dog appeared; and the sound of her 3-legged trot in the halls when she came to lie on the floor next to our bed every night. We will love you always, Maggie! Thank you for all the wonderful memories!!!

While we greatly missed our Maggie, we knew we had to get a new friend for Doogs as quickly as possible. We recently brought home our new little boxer named Zoe. She's absolutely adorable and full of life. It's been fun to see Doogs mature from a puppy (with Maggie) to an annoyed adult (with Zoe). Zoe follows Doogs everywhere, jumps on him, and bites at his ears. Definitely a big difference from his days with Maggie:)

We are looking forward to a great month ahead with another visit to Indiana and a visit from Mimi and Papaw.

Ely is now 4 months old!

We just can't believe it! Ely is already 4 months old!!! He just grows and grows and grows, now weighing a whopping 14 pounds!!! He has turned into such a fun little guy, always smiling, chatting, and sucking on his hands. His favorite toy is his playgym; he continues to love his swing; and he has begun holding onto his first "blanky" (the blue dog blanket from Drew's cousin Stephanie).

I've been back to work for about a month now. It's amazing how quickly one can get back into the swing of things. It's hard to believe I was ever off for 3 months. While it was incredibly difficult to leave Ely for my first day of work, we were incredibly blessed to have an amazing caregiver (aka "Nani") for Ely. "Nani" and her family take such great care of Ely (and his new girlfriend, Nina --7 months old), it's a wonder that he still wants to come home with me everyday:) Not to mention, Ely is officially bilingual as "Nani" speaks only Spanish.

Just before I returned to work, Drew, Ely, and I were able to travel to Indiana and Arkansas to meet all the family. In Indiana, Ely met his cousins, Maya and Kai and his Auntie Jen and Uncle Dom for the first time. Maya demonstrated true maternal instincts by never leaving Ely's side, playing with him, feeding him, and even burping him. We also got to celebrate Kai's 3rd birthday which consisted of everything "Lightning McQueen" (sp?) Didi and Papa were also there, loving every minute of being with their 3 beautiful grandchildren.

Another flight later, we were in Arkansas to see Mimi and Papaw (Drew's mom and step-dad) and Big Papa and Big Mama (Drew's Dad and step-mom) and a whole lot of family:) Ely got to meet his "Grapes" (Great granny Nanney) for the first time and seemed quite happy to be in her arms. The trip ended on my very first Mother's Day.

As we were expecting, saying "goodbye" to our families has gotten even more difficult. While we dread the goodbyes, it's always exciting when we're looking forward to yet another visit....and there will be MANY, MANY, MANY more to come!

We can't believe Ely is already 7 weeks old! Our little tiny baby boy is growing bigger everyday. We recently had the joy of experiencing his first smile. It melted our hearts and continues to do so everytime it brightens his face. Ely's main interest right now is his giraffe mobile on his pack n' play. Drew and I find ourselves winding-up the mobile 10 + times in a row before he finally tires of it. Anyone who's visited has likely left our house humming the mobile tune for hours.

The other day, my sister, Jen, and I were talking on the phone about all the new things our kids were doing. How hilarious to hear the differences. While Jen was amazed at Maya's increasingly complex vocabulary and Kai's ability to complete a 24 piece puzzle, I raved about how Ely's eyes are now focusing on the giraffe during the entire revolution of the mobile. It's all relative, isn't it?
