The young artists of SEFE have been very busy creating fabulous masterpieces! Here is a quick summary of each grade and their current project:
Kindergarten: Shapes
Students are practicing their knowledge of shapes. They are also practicing their coloring, cutting and gluing skills.
First grade: Primary Patterns
Students just finished up making the color wheel using magazines. Their next project is focusing on the primary colors and creating patterns with them.
Second grade: Pablo Picasso Shape Collage
Students looked at Pablo Picasso's painting Three Musicians and discussed Cubism. They are finishing up creating a collage out of construction paper of a musician focusing on different types of shapes.
Third grade: Construction Paper Baskets
Students in the third grade are attempting a very difficult project. They are weaving strips of construction paper together to create a square basket. It's been tough, but they've done a great job. Can't wait until they're finished!
Fourth grade: Quilt Blocks
Fourth grade studied up a little on the history of quilts and are now creating a paper quilt block. It can be a design or image of their choice. We are tracing lines with marker and coloring them with either colored pencils or crayons.
Fifth grade: Radial Name Design
Fifth grade is working on a radial design that also looks a bit like an optical illusion. They are including their name and words of things they enjoy to do in their spare time. They are coloring with markers in bright contrasting colors.
Sixth grade: Story Quilt
Sixth grade learned about Faith Ringgold and her Story Quilts. They are now working on a smaller paper version of a story quilt. They have created a border of patterns and the middle of their "quilt" is an image of something they did over the summer. For their "story", students are writing a short postcard to someone describing their picture.
