South Carolina Man Still Held Hostage - Day 13!!

Noted Tnacian, Bob Wilkus, is reportedly still held hostage in Illinois for the thirteenth day.  Three local terrorists, Jay, Diane, and Gerri (all three shown above, gloating over his capture), have reportedly been denying Bob of any sunlight since he was abducted on Wednesday, December 16.  He has been allegedly fed (see obvious photoshopped restaurant propaganda photo above), but no official confirmation of fair treatment has been given.  Rumors have him alledgedly planning on escaping on December 29, taking terrorist Gerri with him as a hostage.  This should be a very bold and daring (his style) of escape, since he may risk blindness by large, yellow, heat-radiating, objects often seen in the southern sky.  Let's all wish him luck.

Wilkus and Wilson discuss Tiger Woods Incident.

Wilkus' sources said Tiger's wife used a Tree Wood...

Dave: Knowing Tiger he'll make the incident 'fade' away even though she's still 'teed' off.

Bob: If she is smart, she'll insist on playing through unless Tiger agrees to press the pre-nupt.  I think he really three-putted this hole.

Dave: I doubt it will blow over. It's a damn shame he could act this foolishly.

Bob: Apparently his wife is a slicer, but he's more interested in a hooker.

Dave: After he hit the hydrant and tree she ran out acting real 'brassie' while waving a golf club yelling,
" Tiger, I told you that you needed a good driver! ".

Bob: He could have avoided the hydrant hazard if he had used a tree-wood.

Dave:Maybe he DID use a tree-wood but hit the lip(s) coming off the hazard.

Bob: Erin had to use a 4-iron to clear Tiger's lip coming out of the marriage hazard.  I think she is going to get a NIKE endorsement for women's clubs.

Pryzbyslawskis invade South Carolina! Local authorities on alert!

The turkey photo was added by Dave Wilson.  This is not to be confused with Rich Przyby, but is a photo of a different turkey.

For several days over the Thanksgiving holiday there have been Pryzby sightings throughout the South Carolina and Georgia coastal areas.  Widespread panic has not been widely reported, but authorities have issued a code orange alert.  Food has mysteriously been disappearing off of tabletops throughout the areas, and a local golf course has reported substantial damage.  Positive identification of Rich Pryzby can be made by checking to see if he has a top to his head. A recent sighting has been pictured above, with correspondent Wilkus, Gerri Ennis, along with Linda and Bill Bailey (Yes, he has come home).  Officials stated the alerts may be lowered to more earth tone colors since the Pryzbys, who were last spotted heading south on I-95 early Friday morning, are assumed to be returning to their base camp in the swampy areas near Ocala.

Season Closes With TNAC Team Winning Big At Silver Lake Scramble. Sullivan near ace on South Course.

October 11,2009:

Summary by Mike (almost another Ace) Sullivan........

" We had a great time at Silver Lake. Greg and I got to play for just the cost of a cart, 10 bucks, because we were veterans. Our team also won 90 bucks for having low score for 18 holes, 3 under, and also winning two par threes. I missed a hole in one on the third hole of the south course by one inch. We also birdied number 8 on the south course. We had a great drive and had about 135 yards in and Greg knocked it within ten feet and Tom made the birdie putt. Nice way to end the season, because I think we're done for the year."

Wilkus Flies North....plays on 3 teams at Gleneagle CC. Greg makes Big Splash

Playing in wet conditions, veteran TNACIAN Bob Wilkus swooped into town making a rare northern climate appearance and fired an 81 on Gleneagle Red Course. Strapped with Jay as a partner, at the end of the first six holes the duo still managed to eek out a 2 point victory over Greg and Dave.

Then, paired with Dave on the 2nd leg of this forgetable 'triathlon' he was again on the winning team thanks to Dave's unusually straight drives and hot putter.(In a fit of boredom Bob even played several adjoining fairways....also racing to nearby tennis courts in a vain effort to once again see Artie)

Finally, Dave was now strapped with Jay on the final 6 holes again puting Bob on the winning team with Greg.

Note: Greg was not content watching many of his approaches make large splashes in water-filled traps, so he decided to make another splash in the clubhouse by knocking over his glass of cold beer into Bob and Jay's laps and completely soaking several large bills intended for the TNAC treasury.

Bob signed a few autographs for the waitress then suddenly disappeared into a magic vortex that dropped down from the sky and whisked him away.

Additional note: Jay found a large unidentified turd next to his ball on the 7th green.

Texas Scramble at Gleneagles White Course

Monday Oct 19, 2009

Tom, Mike & Greg vs Larry, Bill, Dave & Jay. Under Texas Scramble rules each team played the group's best drive. Riding hard on the back of Dave's booming drives that repeatedly split the center of the lush fairways, Larry, Bill & Jay added stellar short iron games & deadly putting to force Tom, Mike & Greg to scramble for a point tie. Larry amazed even himself by dropping two unbelievably long birdie putts on 12 & 13 followed by Bill dropping a clutch birdie putt on 18. Jay later complimented course officials on the contour of the greens.

Tom was low man with a 77. Larry 85, Greg 87 (pick it up), Bill 88, Jay 87 (huh?), Mike 88,

Dave 91 and sore back for carrying his team.

  Bird Men of Alcatraz

Silver Lake Scramble 10-8-09 Rain shortened to nine holes.Tracy wins longest drive in 65 & under flight. Larry wins lottery prize while absent. Greg announces standing offer for 2010.

Due to rapidly deteriorating weather conditions course officials made this into a nine hole scramble rather than eighteen. Dave, Larry, Jim, and Hugh finished even par with two birdies. Mike, Tom, Greg and Bill finished 1 under par with two birdies. Neither team won prizes. Tom Tracy took longest drive in 65 & under flight narrowly inching out long hitting Barbara Szwanz who finished second in the two person 65 & under field.

Larry went home not realizing his lottery ticket prize # was called after he left. Greg turns 75 in 2010 and is selling his forward tee position for the current market price of $100.

Bill won a tee with a string on it. All participants won certificates good for 18 holes & cart...expires Dec, 2010.

Larry Loses it following chunked chip at Lincoln Oaks. Greg almost decapitated by errant tee shot.

October 5th, 2009

Playing point system rather than strokes, Larry and Bill beat Dave and Greg out of $3 winning back nine by one point. No birdies. Greg had only prox on 15, but missed 10 ft birdie putt.

In a bizarre side note, a golf course official warned Larry to control his temper after chunking a chip shot on 11th hole. Can anger management classes be next for Larry?

Later, describing a strange 'whistling sound' and a 'thud', turns out Greg narrowly escaped decapitation while playing 18 from errant shot off 10th tee.

Dave parred 18 after narrowly missing 12 ft birdie putt.

No long gimmees...amazing experience.

Two Days on Lake Shafer Sept 8-9, 2009

"Jay, for the last time. That is not a dolphin...it's Mike."

Review of 2 days at Bill's: Mike and Dave sang yippe-yi-yo after a swim. Dave, after a close-up inspection, claimed someone stole the original lady of Shafer Lake. Smitty smiled and ate big cheesy things on the boat. Jay had happy face after spending the night in a motel with Mike. Bill looked content that his cottage remained intact. Greg went home mumbling about strange and ghostly images he had seen flickering in the night.

Stanwich, Big Ben bring Prairie Bluff to it's knees. Bill's Revenge at 4th Hole.

Jay was low man with 87 with Ben firing an 88. Cart paths only: Dave, Larry, Ben, Bill vs

Mike, Greg and Jay. Bill birdied par 4 5th hole as well as par 3 13th. Bill's revenge: getting par on par five 4th hole where he broke his ankle last year.

Brokop Shoots Record 22 on Back Nine at Aberdeen but Interrupts Playing Partner and Insults Asian Golfers.

Big Don brought his 'A' game from AZ and shooting 22 on the back nine at Aberdeen. Playing quickly, but efficiently, he seldom needed to leave his golf cart. His light hearted manner and sense of humor were evident on the tee where he and Smitty caught up on old times during Dave's backswing forcing Dave to invent new words for the English language. Bible verses, jokes about slow Asian golfers, memories and stories of every ilk spewed forth as the pair chatted on and on shattering the stillness on the tee as Dave tried desperately to concentrate on "Slooooooow" and "Coke-a-Co-La". Laughter, chuckling, scratching themselves....it was dispicable.

As usual, Greg and Mike's team finished with low score because they pay Tom Tracy's green fee to play with them and they pick up all putts regardless of distance. Jay, Bill, and Larry are good sportsmen but terrible golfers so they had a rotten day flailing away in the switch grass.

Hey Brokop......go back where you came from and kill some rattlesnakes!!!!

Padraig Takes 9 After Rude Interruption on 2nd Tee.

" Many people have asked me what Padraig Harrington and I discussed when we talked at Medinah.  (Yes, since that conversation he has won three major championships.  He signed my hat, and of course, I had to sign his.)  It can now be revealed that we worked on his sand game. "

Bob
Longest Par 3 | kupka.ca

Augusta, GA-April 11th-3rd Round The Masters-Padraig Miffed...............After scoring par on #1 Padraig Harrington was on the tee at Par 5 #2 when a ringing phone caused him to severly hook the ball leftside into the woods. The phone call to Paddy was traced to TNAC correspondent Bob Wilkus'. Scoring a quadruple bogey 9 Padraig was effectively eliminated.

Bob & Padraig at The Masters: Jay's eye witness account.

I was a witness to his encounter with Padraig Harrington at Medinah.  As was Diane.

He passed the three of us on his way to a tee during his practice round.  He asked Bob if he had enough cameras and Bob asked for his autograph.  Padraig signed his hat, I believe with his own green marker.  I think Bob tried to get the marker.

I also think Bob tried to sell Padraig his Johnny Miller tape on how to hit a draw.  That could account for the loud laughter on Padraig's part.  He said he wondered who had bought the one tape Miller sold.

And, if you ever have seen Bob hit out of a sand trap the idea of him giving anyone lessons means that person has no idea of what to do in a trap.

Bob Wilkus on his 1992 Hole-in-one .....a TNAC Classic!

" Ah, the sky was angry that day...   It was a Wednesday, June 17, 1992.  Dean McCreary and my brother, Richard, called me to play golf with them at Glenwoodie.  Despite my oh-so-busy schedule, I managed to break away at the lure of easy money.  We were ready to tee off on number one when the heavens exploded.  A massive force five thunderstorm roared across the area, leaving the grown men crying and the women and children scattered like pinattas at a TNAC bocci game in the woods.  But, with the scent of filthy lucre still hanging in the air, we waited it out about twenty minutes.  I don't recall what I shot on the first two holes, probably a couple of birdies, but I approached the third hole with much eagerness, perhaps keenly aware of history in the line of my fire as only I could have detected it.  From the back tees, with a short right sucker pin, I drew out a five iron, much to the gasps of my competitors.  I hit it flush with a gentle power fade (this was my pre-Johnny Miller golf tape duck-hook days) and deftly landed the Topflite short of the hole.  A soft hop, skip, and jump into the cavity on the green completed my feat.  After much heartfelt congratulatory conversation from my opponents, my task was complete.  The irony of the whole affair was nearly of legend status when the following Saturday, with my usual group of golfers, the pin was in nearly the same spot.  I repeated the effort and this time hit the pin, leaving me a short tap-in birdie.  Damn, I wish they never would have moved the hole from that location! "

That's my story and I'm sticking to it!

Bob

Comments:

Bob, being a very close and good friend of Joyce and I
,lived a life he really enjoyed.  As you know his character was one of " I can do it" no matter what anyone said to him. He and Gerri were enjoying their life in South Carolina a place he really loved.  It came to a tragic end doing what he enjoyed.  He was a man who would do anything for you if you needed his help.  We loved his visits on Thanksgiving and our trips to visit him and Gerri. I truly will miss him.   1/23/10

Rich Przyby

To me, going way back to our TNAC basketball in the 70's, Bob will always be defined by his fierce competitive spirit and his devilish sense of humor. Beyond that I grew to know him as a very unselfish person always ready to help his friends. As you can see from this website Bob was a big contributor, never at a loss for words, and all of us will miss him very much.He died doing what he loved and excelled at, playing tennis. This will be a fitting and lasting memory for all of us and we will all remember his exuberance during his recent visit to join our annual winter gathering. This is a very sad day and my condolences to his family and friends. 1/23/10

Dave Wilson

 ONE COMMENT I HAVE...........I ENJOYED BOB'S CAMARADERIE,
HIS COMPETITIVENESS AND HIS DETERMINATION TO BE AS GOOD AS US OLDER GUYS.

REST IN PEACE FELLOW TNACIAN.  :)
