What is a Field Round?
“A field round is a challenging course, generally placed in a woods, in varying terrain, at different distances from target to target.
There are a few basic differences between field archery and most 3-D courses. Most notably, that field courses have marked yardages. You shoot four arrows at each target. Some of the shooting positions let you shoot all four arrows from one marked stake; some shooting positions have stakes at four different positions where you walk toward the target on each shot, or in a fan position. The distances vary according to the round you are shooting. The standard NFAA field round has distances that vary from 20 feet (6.7 yards) to 240 feet (80 yards). There are four different size faces, the further the target, the bigger the target. "Hey," you say, "I don't shoot at deer that are 80 yards away." No, neither do the rest of us. The idea is that it teaches you to aim at a spot and will make a better all around archer out of you. Field round targets are round, black and white faces. The hunter round, something like the above field round except that you shoot at an all black face with a white dot. The ranges on this round vary between 33 feet (11 yards) and 210 feet (70 yards). Again, 2 fourteen target units make a round.
Now the younger folks get a break. If you're under 15, your longest distance is 50 yards; if you're under 12, the longest range is 30 yards.”

About Work Days
The Archery Work Days are for specific archery projects, especially cleaning up 2 of the field ranges this year.
The Make-Up Work Days are reserved just in case the weather on the work day is bad or more time is needed to finish part of a project.
Club Work Days are for working on projects through out the club.
The meals at the Archery Work Days are potluck, except that Archery will provide burgers and hot dogs (or some main dish) for the meal. So please bring something to share with everyone.
Non-club members are welcome to help with work days.
We will try to let volunteers know if they need to bring any tools. Plan on needing gloves most of the time.
All Archery Ranges CLOSED on Work Days!
Attention: All Archery Ranges will be closed on the Work Days during the hours listed above.
Thank you! for March 10 Work Day
Thank you everyone! We had 9 nine people. Lunch was good. The backroom is spacious & organized. The bales on the white range are ready to shoot. Another group of members finished assembling the merry-go-round also. The next archery workday is April 14 @ 9 am. The club is having a workday on March 24 @ 8 am also.
Thank you! for April Work Day
Thank you everyone! We had 7 people. Lunch was good. The bales on the red range are ready to shoot. We still need to relocate the last target on the Red, but it can still be shot the way it is. The yardage markers/stones on the white range have been measured. And we gathered up material from an unused range.
We still have a lot of work to do, but we are crossing stuff off the list every time. What's left? We need to move #14 Red, verify the yardages on the Red Range, paint the stones, place the signs, get bowhangers & benches ready, and general pick up. Then all that's left this year is maintenance.
The next work day is May 6 & 26. The plan is to paint the yardage markers and pick up the ranges at least.
Thank you! for May 6 Work Day
Thank you everyone! We had 9 people. We got most of the 2 ranges mowed & vegetation under control. The Red Range is measured and ready to shoot. The rat/bunny target on the Red Range has been moved. You will be shooting towards the pond, not the back of the picnic area. We finished that project in the rain. It's was muddy. Thank goodness for the water from the downspouts to clean hands & boots before going in the clubhouse.
As always, there's more work to do. The stones need painted, signs placed, get bowhangers & benches ready, and general pick up. A couple of people will go back & sqaure up the bales on the white range.
If someone is looking for work to do outside of the work days, please contact Terri. There is also a list in the archery room at the club.
The next work day is May 26 from 9 am - 3 pm. The biggest goal will be to paint the stones.
Thank you! for May 26 Work Day
Thank you everyone! We had 6 people. We got the stones on the Red & White ranges painted, now they just need the yardages painted on.
As always, there's more work to do. The 4 major projects at this point at painting the yardages on the stones, making some more benches, hanging bowhangers where needed, and glueing targets for the field shoot (June 10) and the rest of field league. If you would like to help, please contact Terri.
The next work day in June 9 from 9 am - 3 pm. The goal is to get ready for the field shoot the next day.
Thank you! for June 9 Work Day
Thank you! We had 3 people. The trails were mowed, vegetation trimmed, benches and bowhangers set, targets hung, and other small projects were acccomplished.
As always, there's work to do. If you would like to help at anytime, please contact Terri.
The field shoot was June 10. There are still a few weeks left in the in the field league. The next work day is July 14 from 9 am - 3 pm.
Thank you! for August 11 Work Day
Thank you everyone! We had 4 people. We worked rebuilding the target butts on the practice range, painting yardages on the field ranges, and building stands for the kids' indoor bales.
The next work day is Sept. 8 from 9 am - 3 pm.
Thank you! for Sept. 8 Work Day
Thank you everyone! We had 4 people. We removed some trees, removed extra yardage markers, and put up a bulletin board at the Practice Range.
There are no more work days this year. We will have some next year. And if you wish to help on your own time, please contact Terri.
