Response
Unlike most books that are assigned to read I accually enjoyed and looked forward to reading the Glass Castle. Probably the most interesting part for me was that it was all a true story which made the events alot more incredible opposed to if someone would have just made them up in their head.
Re: Post your comments/questions here:
The glass castle was eye-opening to how some people have to live. It definitely was better than other books that we read, but I felt it became a little repetitive. I started out liking the book a lot, then over break dreaded reading it because it took so much time to read.
Re: Response
I have to admit, at first I dreaded reading so much throughout Thanksgiving break, but the book turned out to be one of those books I really WANTED to get back and read. It was not only very intriguing and entertaining, but it also taught life lessons that I hope to remember throughout the future about friendship, values, being grateful for what I have, family, and goal-setting. Definitely worth reading again sometime!
Re: Response
So - did you spark note it???
Re: Glass Castle review
Hate is a pretty strong word. Are you sure you "hated" it?
Response
The Glass Castle was a great read for me. It showed me how many things I take for granted every day. This book grabbed my attention in the beginning and kept it throughout the end. Great book.
Glass Castle review
I hated the book. The fact that i had to read it over thanksgiving didnt help either. I think that her life was not nearly as bad as she seems to make it. Maybe her dad was an alcoholic and they moved around a lot but i dont think half the stuff happened the way she portrayed it to. There is also no way of knowing all that happened with asking the others involved in her life, but some are dead and others probably wont remember anyways. I think she lied about her life and that made me dislike it because it says memoir. Memoirs are supposed to be true top the fullest and i got the feeling she was making up stuff to try to make her book more interesting.
Glass Castle Response
The Glass Castle was very intriguing because you never knew what obstacle the Walls family was going to have to face next. It also made us realize what we have been blessed with in today's society so we aren't as apt to taking everything for granted.
Re: Post your comments/questions here:
The Glass Castle is my favorite book we have read so far. It turned out to be really insightful and made me quite thankful for what I have. It's amazing how Jeannette has become so successful in life, having the childhood she did. She's a pretty inspirational person.
Re: Post your comments/questions here:
I really liked the Glass Castle because it was a lot different from other books I have read. It wouldn't be a book I wold pick out for myself but after giving it a chance I really liked it. Jeanette Walls shows how poorly some people live right here in our country. It really made me appreciate how easy I have it. She is a very talented writer and keeps the book interesting. In the words of Joey, "Better than Frederick Douglas."
