When my son joined the Navy I thought it would be cool to build the ship he was stationed on. I figured since I've been out of model building for well over twenty five years I would need some practice. So I started looking on line I found modeling has come a long way since I built my last ship. Ocean scenes, railings, rigging, wow do I have a lot to learn.
I picked up a cheep Spruance kit, just to try making a water scene. I liked the way it came out, and since I believe a ship should be on the ocean I'll most likely stick with it.
Well he is going to be stationed on the USS Bataan LHD-5 It just so happens that I've wanted to build this since the new 1/350 kit has come out. I'm going to be pulling out all the stops for this one, so it's going to take me a while just to get everything together. I'll most likely be off for the summer, but watch out this fall, because I'll be doing some extensive documentation on this build.
I'm going to put pictures of my finished kits on this page. I will also keep separate pages covering the ship builds. I've learned so much by reading what other people have done I decided to do it myself.
