Deliverance Ride 2012 ...
Lets meet Sunday 5-6-12 at St Louis Bread Co across from St.Anthony's Hospital at 9:00 KSU at 9:30 and ride down Hwy30 to St.Clair then take Hwy K to Hwy185 in to Potosi, I can almost hear the Banjos playing right now. then head to hwy21 on hwy P and Hwy32 Sometimes you have to lose yourself 'fore you can find anything. Then head up Hwy21 to Caledonia for Lunch and candy or Ice Cream. Squeal like a pig!

Rose and I are planning a trip to Arrow Rock MO on Staurday 5/5. Arrow Rock is rated as the second most scenic town in MO. They are also known for their fried chicken, rated #1 in the state. We will leave Saturday morning and take a 200 mile ride to Arrow Rock, spend alittle time roaming around the town and then have dinner. Some of you may have seen this on the news already but thought I would forward this video about Camp Hopeville. I am personally not sure how accurate Mr. City Director of Human Services is because we got word that a only few folks are being moved into housing, not all 40 of them. Just thought it was interesting. If they do move them at least we all know that we helped them survive through winter and brought some smiles and compasion to their front doors.

Rose and I have planned a ride to Arrow Rock on Sunday 4/01/12. They are known for the fried chicken. Voted best in the state. We are meeting at the Mcdonalds on the corner of New Suger Creek and Hwy 30. KSU at 9:00. It is a 200 mile ride out there. If we take the highway back it is about 160 miles.

For anyone interested, I have an update on our Thanksgiving family. Since we helped with groceries and such, Miss Gloria will be moving out of East St. Louis and into Belleville this coming Monday. My contact was with her yesterday and she was said to be dancing on clouds and singing praises about us. It would be nice if more people that have just a little extra to give to someone in desperate need. Think how many more happy people there would be and how much happier this cruel world would be, if only...... Ya know!??

We have made a list of the kids and ages on the web page under sign up. Click on sign up next to the child or item, and then click on Assign member, and click on your name, then save. This will assign you name to that item. We will have a limit of 1 member per gift sign up, and please only buy 1 gift, as to not over load them. This will give each child 2 gifts. There are also cleaning and hygene items needed. We can also do some gift cards to grocery stores. Put your name next to the child or items you will be donating, only put your name once, if we need people to donate more we can always add later. There will also be a jar at the Christmas Party for cash donations for utilities assistance, this money will go directly to the utilities. Go to the website and pick from the list under sign up, if you have any questions call Ron at 314-452-4161. Bring your wrapped gift with a tag saying age and boy/girl to the Christmas party. Dear Family & Friends,
Even though it is the Holiday Season and most of us give generously, this letter is to gather our resources and request a long term commitment in giving.
Last weekend, some of us gathered blankets, coats, candles and other miscellaneous items and made a delivery to the Hopeville Camp for displaced St. Louisians living in a tent city between the railroad tracks and Mississippi River just north of downtown.

We were welcomed with open arms and the people were very gracious and appreciated all the items. Some were very shy while others shared their story with us. There are about 35-40 people that flow through the camp, some unable to work but others traverse the city each day, on foot, looking for metal and other miscellaneous items they can scrap for money. They seemed to have a formed a community and share everything. We asked several of them what they needed most to get through winter and decided to recruit help in facilitating what we could for their survival. Please note that this is a drug and alcohol free camp and no children are present. However, they do share with other camps along the river.
I have set up a make-shift donation center in my garage and our goal is to gather items continuously and make a weekly trip to Hopeville. The following list represents necessities and a few extras to make their winter a little more bearable:
Firewood Candles Lighters/Matches
Tents Tarps
Propane Tanks (small tanks used for camping stoves and heaters)
Blankets/Pillows Coats Socks
Shoes Boots Umbrellas
Clothes in General Jeans Towels/WashRags
Pots/Pans/Silverware (any items for cooking) Can openers
Tools (Hammers, Screw Drivers, misc. for scrapping) Toilet Paper
Wet Wipes Paper Towels Personal Storage Tubs
Flashlights Batteries Toothpaste/Toothbrush
Hair Brush/Combs (ponytail holders) Winters Hats, Scarves and gloves Pain Reliever (first aid type items)
Soap (clothes and personal hygiene) Five Gallon Buckets
***Please note that none of these items need to be new, just in functional condition***
Food: They accept home-cooked food but canned items and packaged items can be stored and used throughout the year. They rarely receive meat, soda or any luxury items however do use much cooking oil.
Thank you for your consideration in this matter and all donations are appreciated and can be dropped off at my house. Firewood is our priority and delivered as gathered. The first delivery for other items will be Sunday – December 11th. Anyone interested in making weekly deliveries is more than welcome to come along.

I went by The Fire House Grill Thursday and talk to Bill everything is a go for the Christmas Party, we can have the party room anytime after 3:00 Saturday Dec 10th, so we need some... volunteers... to help decorate (lights,small tree,) and Rib should stop by and make sure the TVs get hooked up. Bill tells me that he will make room for everyone and that the buffet will be set up outside the party room so we have more space. We will have door prizes form Doc's Harley Davidson and St.Louis Bread Co also Gateway Harley Davidson. Plan to show up early and hang out check the 2012 rides over have a drink $2 domestic beer,,$3 well drinks. and Home Made desserts (Dinner at 7:00ish). party room should be decorated and ready by 6:00.

any gifts will do there are 4 girls and 1 boy ages 2 Thu 10 bring
a wrapped gift to the Christmas Party PINK bow for the girls and

Great Job Everyone,
Well has anybody noticed any changes in there Health like weight lost or muscle defection is it getting easier to make it through the whole class, after just 3 classes we have burned over 2400 to 3000 cal that is a days worth. I think everyone will agree that as hard as it is to get started with Spinning after the 60 minutes we feel great. Just showing up for the Spinning and giving it your best effort is better then sitting at home on the couch.

I found a place just north of Arcola called Tuscola. Looks like it resembles Crown candy but isn't in a bad neighbor hood. Its got pretty old history. Originally established in 1901 by sisters Devon and Ann's grandfather. This would probably be classified as a ride. It's about 153 miles from mine and Dereks house, so it would be a long ride. Every Wednesday at 7:15 for 1hr we will "burn 800 to 1000 cal each class" the first class is $10 and they give you the next class free after that we can buy 5 classes for $50 or 10 for $90 if we get a group of 10 or more we can get a standing appointment every Wednesday at 7:15 and maybe a break on the price. This winter lets think Health and Fitness, also after the first two classes if you don't want to keep Spinning there is no obligation if you buy 5 classes and can't make one you can transfer that class to a friend or (SUB).

I have made reservations for 29 under Beth Hughes/U-Turn Riders with Acquired Taste Rafting Company in Johnson Village, Colorado on Friday-July 8th at 10:30 a.m. The white water trip will take approximately 4 hours from start to finish and we will be going through Class III and IV rapids. We will spend about 2.5 hours on the Arkansas River with lots of calm water to view wild life and scenery as well as increasing the rapids through Brown's Canyon. The rapids are usually moderate by July and I personally feel it will be safe for beginners. They supply life jackets and wet suits, if necessary, but you can prepare yourself for a typical Missouri river float-trip but with durable shoes and fast drying clothes. We will be rafting with 5-6 people plus one river guide per raft.
Our group rate is $40.40 per person and everyone will need to call ahead and pay for your spot before May 15, 2011. Please call Acquired Taste Rafting 1-800-888-8582 (Chuck Huggs) and let him know that you are calling for the July 8th Reservation at 10:30 under Beth Hughes/U-Turn Riders (Half Day Trip) and make your individual credit card payment.
They are sending me brochures and I will hand them out and scan when I receive them. Again, if you choose not to do this adventure please let me know so I have a firm count before we leave for Colorado. If you have any questions please call me directly at 314-606-7324.

I have made reservations for Royal Gate Bridge on Tuesday-July 5th between 11:00 and Noon. The group rate per person (12 and over) is $18.50 and payable when we arrive. They asked that we all use the same cashier when paying under the U-Turn Riders Reservation. I did not have to hold the reservation on a credit card but they asked if we are going to change the time that we give them a few days notice. They informed me it usually takes 4-5 hours to get through the Bridge tour and accompanying sites within the park. They are sending me a brochure which I will scan and send out when it arrives.
The group rate applies for 15 or more, so if anyone chooses not to do this tour we still should get the group rate. Please let me know if you decided not to attend this adventure or if you have any questions.
