I painted Belle on a piece of bulletin board paper, which I hope I will never have to do again because it tears the paper a little when I tried to blend colors. Grrrrr... Cardboard is MUCH better!
I plan on doing more when I get more cardboard.
I will be using the big orange one for our outdoor promo sign as soon as I get the back of it done. I took pictures in stages, mostly because I like to see the progress. Aguy at my church will be making the holder for it again, he just doesn't know it yet :)
The cardboard sign has a naked picture and the completed picture. It is made out of cardboard, paint and hot glue. Sounds simple, but it took me a YEAR! Okay, it took about a week, but it felt like a year. I made a hole for the bamboo to fit into it. My friend Kristie made the lantern and I just finished it today. Yaaay! Final picture is at the top of the home page.
The turtles on the top left are made from drink holders (from fast food resturaunts) and some green foam, paint and google eyes.
The capadillar (yes, I spelled that right) was made from that center area on the lid of an egg carton. It's the part that is indented when it's shut. Just painted it black, glued a bottom onto it (from the other side of the lid), and glued some huge yellow poms in there. Add some eyes (out of tiny black poms) and a glittery pipe cleaner and your good to go.
Sally the snack was made from directions on someone elses shutterfly account.
Dragon flies were made from glow-in-the-dark beads and tissue paper. Still have to add eyes.
Crocodile is made from egg carton and craft foam. Directions are on the forum somewhere.
Lily pads are made of green paper plates. the bottom of styrofoam cups and poms.
The frogs are made entirely out of green felt, pipe cleaners and hot glue. I'll attach directions if I can find them and learn how to attach stuff. :)
Lantern is made from free milk bottles we saved from the headstart program at our school. I just pooked holes in it with one of those jewelry tools. I can post a picture if you ask. I used black electrical tape for the top and bottom, cut a hole in the back, added stickers and traced the lines from the fireflies with sharpies. My friend added the metalic string I purchased through Stampin' Up! This will be a craft on the 4th day.
The lanterns were bird feeders that I put a batterie operated remote control candle inside. Had to cut out a nob thing, that is used to regulate the seed, with a hand saw.
The turtle (I named Mamma Bling) was made from an old container I kept around (Ithink from cookies) and some water bottles that I cut up and painted with accrilic paint. The bling is just some sequence that I glued on. And of course, some wiggle eyes.
