Hello, my name is Victoria Tully. I am a 16 year old about to embark on a trip of a life time. I'm an outbound Rotary exchange student, going to Bologna, Italy for the 2010-2011 school year. I have completed my Sophomore year and am on my journey in my Junior year. It has been about 8 years since someone had done an exchange in my hometown, so it has been a big deal and at lot of people have commented on how great they think it is that I am participating in this experience. I am a independent, goal driven, self determined person and I'm very honored to be able to take part in the Rotary Youth Exchange program, and I very much look forward to learn a new culture and language, meet many new people, and watch myself grow and change through out the year.
I will share with you my experiences that I encounter before, during, and after my trip to Italia, and what it is like to be completely immersed in a foreign country, where you hardly speaking the language and do not know much about the culture. I will inform you about activities that are going on and what it is like to be an exchange student. I will also Analyze the differences and similarities between the two cultures and my views towards them. Please fell free to leave comments on anything that I blog about, your input will be nice to receive. I will upload pictures, and I will try to blog either semi-monthly or monthly about what I have been up to in Italy. I hope you enjoy reading about my adventure on my blog. Also Check out what other outbounds, from the USA, to different countries are up to by clicking on there links below the "Websites for other outbounds"; I have even added a blog of a student in Italy, from Sweeden(which means the blog is in Swedish), are you up for the challenge. Also you may see where Bologna is located in Italy, and places I have traveled to on the Google map on the right hand column of the home page. As well as a Google map of cities I hope to visit during the course of the year.
Some Information on the pictures above. The first is a picture of the statue of Neptune, which is in downtown Bologna, and it is our typical meeting spot. The second is a porta located near the train station. The 3rd is a picture of one of the two towers that are located in downtown Bologna. The last is one is a picture of the street that runs in front of my house.
