Freedom Academy Philosophy

VYS Academy Philosophy:

While teams are important, the Academy's focus is on developing players--not necessarily teams. We recognize that everyone develops at a different pace and this approach allows players to challenge themselves at the level that is right for them at any given moment.

Because of this approach, there are more eyes on individuals who continue to improve and develop, and as such, players will move between teams based on their performance and commitment level.

Freedom Academy:

The Freedom Academy tiers teams with players placed onto Academy teams based on their current playing and athletic abilities.

VYS Freedom will maintain 3 teams in WAGS (Red, Black and White) and will maintain presence in the ODSL program with Freedom Silver.

Freedom Training – Academy Style:

Each team has a dedicated professional trainer/coach and at least one licensed / certified parent coach.

In order to provide a higher level of individual training, the Academy schedules a maximum of 2 teams on the field at once during regular season training. Sessions are held twice a week (with an optional makeup day) and generally last 1 hr 15 minutes.

In addition to the in-season sessions, the Academy holds summer and winter training camps.
