Kauai, Hawaii June 28th-July9th!
We just got back from a fantastic trip to Kauai, Hawaii for two weeks to celebrate Cameron's graduation from his MBA program at Saint Mary's and 4th of July. Cam and I had been to Kauai once before for my 30th birthday, but this was Cadence's first time. My parents and sister also joined us on the trip making it a truly special family vacation. My parents had not been back to Hawaii since we were I think around 13 or so, so for them this was a much needed vacation. Wendy came out from New york to join us (looong flight), but Cadence was super excited to see her aunt Wen. Our plane rides turned out to be not all that bad either, though there was moments when I wanted to yell, "JUST GET ME OFF THIS PLANE!" We stayed at this wonderful place called the Villas at Poipu Kai http://www.villasatpoipukai.com/. Phenomenal place for kids and families, not to mention top of the line everything. The place is fairly new (1.5 years old) so everything was super nice and clean! There is a gorgeous pool and Brennecke's beach is like a block away. They had all the baby gear necessary for Cadence and had coolers, beach chairs, boogie boards everything possible for the pool and beach......free of charge! On this trip we made it a daily thing to RELAX as much as possible.
We traveled to both sides of the island (Ha'Ena and Waimea). We took a small hike and visited a couple beaches. It rained here and there, but it was still warm and usually lasted only minutes. I must say the best thing about the island is the food...that seriously was the highlight of my trip. Some of the places we were able to experience were Tidepools at The Hyatt (Cam and I had a date night), Bubba Burger (twice), Tropical Taco, Puka Dog (though we felt it should have been called mayonnaise dog), Jo Jo's Shaved Ice (omg they put Macadamian Nut Ice Cream at the bottom of the shaved ice...so good!), The Bull Shed and Dukes.
Cadence loved the island, and a lot of the people actually thought she was a local. She took on to the boogie board like she was a pro and was a real fish in the water. At one beach she had a stand off with a BIG crab (need to get those pictures from Cam), was a great a little hiker, and met lots of little friends. Actually one of the group of friends that Cadence met (who were staying at our place) were the kids of Stephen Graham. He is an actor who has been in quite a few popular movies: Snatch, Gangs of New York and the New Pirates of The Caribbean, which he was filming. Sorry had to throw that in there! All in all everyone had a blast and really loved the place and island. We all hope to go back one day in the near future!
Wow, does time pass quickly.
Cadence is reaching her year and a half benchmark and I honestly cannot believe how quickly time has passed. WOW, my little girl is not so little anymore. She continues to talk up a storm and cracks up Cameron and I on a daily basis. Things have been going great for the whole family. As I mentioned in one of my albums, Cam will be graduating from St. Mary's MBa program on the 26th of June and then as a family we are off to Hawaii to celebrate! This summer is packed with excting things, an annual Wiffle Ball tournament, short weekend trip to Cal Poly SLO, A trade show in Vegas, and a long relaxing trip to Idaho. So much going on this year, we Watts are staying busy. Stay tuned though for pictures and updates on our trips. I will try to be better about blogging!
