We will be hosting a small Gymnastics Meet at the Waukesha Y with Kettle Moraine and Metro Milwaukee on Sunday, June 3. This meet will be held the same day as our Annual School Age June Meet. The Theme for the day is ‘Beach Party’. Official YMCA Judges will be attending the Team portion of the Meet to judge and give coaches feedback on gymnast routines. This will be the last competition available before the National Championships at the end of June. I encourage all Waukesha Team Gymnasts to participate in the meet. Gymnasts attending Nationals are urged to perform their Nationals routines. Those gymnasts not attending Nationals are welcome to perform their current Level routine or potential ‘next level’ routine, if applicable. This meet is a mobility qualifying meet. Participating gymnasts will receive goodie bags and awards, just like in regular season meets. Please register in the Business Office by Friday, April 6 if you would like to participate in this meet. The cost is $25/gymnast.
We will of course be having concessions and admissions volunteer opportunities as well – so please let me know if you are available and interested in helping!

Each year the end of a competitive season brings new challenges, hopes and changes. We have had a successful season, not only measured in wins, but also in the friendships and relationships built within our Team and Parent’s Group.
For the 2012/2013 competitive season, a new team schedule is being introduced. The new schedule goes into effect June 11, 2012.
· All levels will practice on Monday and Wednesday. Club team will practice on Thursday.
· Team will no longer practice at the same time as our developmental classes. This will improve overall safety, make practices less distracting for the gymnasts and allow for efficient equipment rotations.
· Gymnasts will benefit from a greater wealth of coaching experience as all level coaches will be in the gym for practices.
· Team spirit and camaraderie will grow, and communication for gymnasts and parents will be more efficient as all levels work together.
Level 2 Monday/Wednesday 4:30-6:00PM
Level 3 Monday/Wednesday 5:00-7:00PM
Level 4 Monday/Wednesday 5:30-7:30PM
Level 5 & 6 Monday/Wednesday 5:30-8:00PM
Level 7 & Excel Silver Monday/Wednesday 6:00-8:30PM
Level 8 Monday/Wednesday 5:30-8:30PM
Jr. Club Thursday 4:30-6:00PM
Club Thursday 5:30-7:30PM
This is effective June 11th.
As this season comes to an end there are many questions about next year. I will have information ready for parents in the next couple weeks with more details about next season practices and competitions. Below you will find information on Level mobility for the 2012/2013 season.
Gymnasts are strongly encouraged to remain in a competitive level until they have mastered all of their current level’s skills and are safely ready to advance to the next level.
Level Mobility is determined by the Gymnastics Program Director with the assistance of Team Coaches. The Gymnastics Program Director has final say on all mobility. Gymnasts that have reached their level’s mobility score will be evaluated for possible advancement to the next competitive level. Until a gymnast has reached her level’s mobility score in a YMCA sanctioned competition she is not eligible to be evaluated.
Evaluations will be conducted the week after the State Meet during regular scheduled practices. Families wishing to discuss level mobility must schedule a meeting with me. Meetings will take place March 27-30 between 3:00-8:00PM. Parents should plan 30 minutes for the meeting; gymnasts are not required to attend.
If your gymnast has not yet met her mobility score, you may still schedule a meeting to discuss her progress and ask any questions. If you are unsure if your gymnast has reached her mobility score please email me.
Please contact me ASAP with your preferred meeting time. Level 6 & 7 meetings may be scheduled on Tuesday, March 20 from 5:00-8:00PM or Wednesday, March 21 from 6:00-9:00PM.
The following are the mobility scores for the 2011/2012 season:
Level 2 – 35
Level 3 – 35
Level 4 – 35
Level 5 – 34
Level 6-8 – skill evaluation
PO – skill evaluation
Mobility scores may be obtained at any YMCA sanctioned competition. We will have two out-of-season meets after the State Meet and prior to Nationals. If a gymnast obtains a mobility score at either of these meets, I will schedule an evaluation and meeting at that time.
