Fall is now in full swing and Christmas is just around the corner! I can't believe how this year has flown by. Jonathan wanted to play with our fall decorations today and I snapped a few quick shots...my favorite is the one right after he tried to "eat" the baby pumpkin! Unfortunately, I have to work on Halloween, so we are going to skip trick-or-treating this year. So we will celebrate tomorrow by wearing our halloween t-shirts and causing all kinds of mischief all day instead! =)
Other happenings in the Wenner household are keeping mom and dad very busy these days too. We are gearing up for the last push on getting all the projects completed around the house and planning on putting it on the market in the next couple of months. We are hopeful that we will be able to sell and find a new home very soon! It will be great to finally have a home big enough for family get togethers and extra room for guests! (and eventually another nursery of course =) )
More pics and updates soon! Love, Treka, Tim and Jonathan
As you can see the family website has a new look and some new features. The home page will have the newest pictures and updates. Be sure to check out the tabs at the top of the webpage - we now have separate pages for comments, older pictures and Videos!! Enjoy the improvements! Love, The Wenner Family
Wow, Jonathan is one! Can you believe it? We have had a lot of fun so far this summer. We have been to the zoo, swimming at Aunt Cherri's, had a picnic with family in yukon, swimming in our new "frog" pool for the back yard and a birthday party for the little guy. Whew, I'm ready for a vacation! Oh yeah, we did that too, but there wasn't much relaxing involved with a toddler in tow.
Jonathan is starting to walk and is saying a few words. He seems to learn new things everyday. We love to watch him experience new things - He gets so excited and happy everytime he learns to do something new. Today, he was able to point to a picture of a frog and a bee when I asked him where they were....such a smart baby! =) He loves anything that makes music. When he hears a song he will immediately bounce and smile.
We hope you enjoy the latest pictures. Hope to have lots more to add soon!
love,
Treka, Tim and Jonathan.
Wow it has been a while since we talked! I am sorry I haven’t updated the site since Christmas. We have been so busy; unfortunately there hasn’t been much time to download all the pictures etc.
We had a nice holiday season and start of spring. We were able to spend time with both sides of the family for Jonathan’s first Christmas. It was all very special and memorable. I hope you enjoy the new pictures of our festivities. We have also had fun visiting the zoo, the natural history museum and our neighborhood park to enjoy all the wonderful weather and colors of springtime.
Jonathan is growing and thriving. I’m a little biased of course, but I think he is just as cute as can be!! He has such a cheerful and interactive personality. It has been a lot of fun watching him blossom and develop his ornery side ( I think he get’s that from me =) ). In the last few months he has started crawling, pulling up and cruising along the edge of things, he is saying a couple of words (mainly Dada and hi, but I think Mama isn’t far behind!), playing peek-a-boo and waving. He loves the dogs and gets a kick out of chasing them while in his walker (little red GT car in the pics). Oh yeah, and the teething…ugh! No teeth yet, but surely we’ll see one soon based on the fussing, drooling and runny nose! Right?
My job is still going well. We are winding down from our busy cold and flu season and the slower days are definitely welcomed. Tim will likely go back to work this spring/summer either for a company or work out of the house. So please be praying for his job search!
Jonathan and I will be going to Alabama with Mimi this month to visit friends and go to a baby shower. I am really looking forward to the trip. It has been a while since Mimi has seen us too, and I know she is anxious to see her little man! And me too, of course =)
There are lots of fun things to look forward to this spring…we can’t wait to spend more time outside as the weather gets warmer. Jonathan really seems to enjoy being outside, and I’m sure we will have lots of pics to come.
Our love to all of you!
The Wenner Family
We have some catching up to do! Since our last entry, Jonathan has had lots of "firsts". We went to his first state fair and had lots of fun. He liked looking at all the animals and watching the interesting people walk by. He was a real trooper since we were there for several hours...hardly ever made a peep! He has really learned to like riding around in the baby bjorn carrier (as long as he faces out so he can see where he is going).
Last Wednesday I took Jonathan to Missouri to visit Mimi for her birthday. Jonathan flew on a plane for the first time - needless to say I was a little nervous about how he would handle the flight. Apparently I didn't need to worry because he did just great on the plane! We had fun playing (and shopping) with Mimi during his first trip to Missouri. On Thursday we had lunch with some of mom's co-workers and then went out that evening for a birthday dinner at Zio's with Mimi and Pops (Larry). Mom and I went to a matinee movie on Friday afternoon and took Jonathan for his first movie. It was a "chick flick" and Tim says he'll have to watch at least four westerns with Jonathan to erase the damage that was done to his boy .
On Saturday morning we drove to Tulsa with mom for Kiersten's wedding shower. We had a nice time and of course Jonathan was a hit with his cousins. After the shower we went to dinner with the family and then we headed home riding with Julie and Sarah. All in all it was a great few days but exhausting for both of us. Luckily we have a few days before I have to go back to work. Hopefully we will both get lots of sleep!
This morning we had another first...Jonathan began reaching for and grasping his toys. It is really amazing to see how fast he is growing and developing. Before today, he could bat at things with a closed fist and occasionally would catch stuff in his grasp. He can almost roll over too. He gets to his side but hasn't quite mastered getting all the way over yet. He wants to sit up or "stand" all the time. If he is laying in your arms or in the bed and wants to sit up he will do little "crunches" and grunt like he is trying to sit up...I think before we know it he will actually be able to pull up to a sitting position. His laugh is also developing and is so cute! I can't wait for the full on baby giggle someday soon. He weighs almost 14 pounds and is about 24 inches long.
Well it is naptime for us both, so we'll sign off for now. Enjoy the new pics! (ps: some pictures have captions or descriptions in the slide show. Just pass your mouse pointer over the picture to show them or to pause the show.) Don't forget to leave your comments if you want! Love from the Wenners!
Well, I am finally getting back to updating the journal after running into some technical difficulties with the website. You've probably already looked at the new pics by now so here's the update to go with them!
Mimi came to visit a few weeks ago and we had a wonderful time! We did some shopping for you-know-who; got to see some family and we had Jonathan's first studio pictures taken. Her visit went entirely too fast and we promised to go visit her in Missouri soon. Jonathan had lots of fun playing with his Mimi. As you can see in the pics he is all smiles and personality. One more explanation...the "redneck" picture with the gun...Tim won that at a fundraising banquet "for Jonathan." Mommy says he is going to have to be at least 16 before he touches it though!!
We had an exciting week last week. We celebrated Tim's 39th birthday on Thursday, and....drum-roll please....we finally bought a new car!! As most of you know, the Saturn has been on it's last leg for a while now. We got a Toyota Rav4. It is red with gray interior and lots of fun bells and whistles...and most importantly it is so fun to drive!
I'll post pictures soon of the new family car.
Our little Jonathan is really starting to develop a cute little personality. He is a very happy baby and loves to smile. We are truely blessed! He is sleeping through the night most of the time now. A few days ago he started cooing. I was changing his diaper and talking to him like I usually do when I noticed that he was "talking" back. I would say something or say "oooh" and he would respond and then give me that big smile of his. I loved it! We called Mimi right away so he could "talk" to her too. He still loves to look at everything including some of his toys but he is not quite grasping at things purposefully yet. I'm sure that will be right around the corner.
Jonathan had his first studio pictures taken a couple of weeks ago. He did very well and didn't get cranky until the last couple of shots. Our photographer was a lot of fun and very patient with him. I can't wait to show the pictures to all of you--I think they are just adorable, but then again, I'm a little biased
! I will try to upload some of the proofs to this site.
We are planning our first big trip for the end of September. Jonathan and I are going to fly to Mimi's house for her birthday! I am a little nervous and I dread the packing. Our flight is only an hour long and I am hoping he sleeps right through it! I know Mimi is excited to show off her little guy to all her friends and coworkers in person.
Enjoy the new pics...I'll post more soon!
Happy 2 month Birthday Jonathan! The last 8 weeks have flown by and my little boy is growing up too fast already. He has changed from a tiny infant to a baby, and he is definitely all boy!! He is smiling more and more and he loves to play and listen to us make funny sounds. But the most exciting thing happened last night...HE SLEPT THROUGH THE NIGHT!!! Yippie! He was asleep by 10:30 and woke this morning around 630. He has been sleeping longer the last week or so but this is definitely the longest. Keep it up big guy - mom and dad need some sleep
.
I went back to work last week, and let me tell you, that was the hardest thing ever! I think I survived only because I knew he was safe and sound at home with daddy and I got to go home and visit a couple of times at lunch. If I didn't love my job so much, I think I would have just quit and made Tim go back to work instead. Being close to home and working 3 days/week is very doable and I treasure my days off even more now.
Well, that's all the news from the Wenner house....We'll post more pics this weekend after Mimi's visit I'm sure.
Yesterday I set up Jonathan's "giddy'up ang go" play gym. As soon as I laid him under thy toys his eyes went wide and he started waving his arms around. He seemed to really like looking in the mirror and listening to the music. It is so fun and amazing to watch them change and develop right before your eyes!
Speaking of change - His hair started falling out a couple of weeks ago, just on the top. For several days he looked like a little old man in need of a toupee! He now has quite a bit of peach fuzz filling in and it is looking pretty light in color. I think his hair color may be the only thing he got from me - Tim calls him "mini-me" since he looks so much like him
.
We are counting the days until Mimi (my mom) gets to come visit again. We miss her a lot and can't wait for her to get here on the 14th. We are hoping to be able to go get our first studio pictures taken then too! Hopefully he will be all smiles and personality that day.
Our little man is growing so fast! He seems to change a little everyday. He is awake more and more during the day. He loves to stare at us, at the lights, out the window...pretty much everything. Yesterday he smiled at Tim (on purpose so daddy says
). He is putting on weight well - he was 9.6lbs a few days ago - and eating like a horse! Tim and I are getting more organized and it doesn't take near as much time to get out the door for an appointment etc. I feel like we need a moving truck to go anywhere though!
The dogs have adjusted well and seem to accept their "little brother" without much fuss. Speck (the youngest and smallest dog) is the most interested and must check on Jonathan frequently by looking in his crib or laying next to our chair when we are holding the baby. Amazingly enough he is not startled at all when they bark or if Tucker (the beagle) howls - so nice when he is napping in the living room!
Well, Jonathan is 3 weeks old this weekend and he is growing like a weed already! He had gained almost 1lb over his birthweight on Thursday at his 1st doctors visit. He seems to be changing daily...his cheeks are getting a little chubbier and the newborn sizes are just a bit more snug. He is starting to hold his head up better and loves to watch everything going on around him. He loves to sit in his bouncy seat and look out the window or just snuggle with mommy. We couldn't ask for a better baby! Mom and Dad are adjusting well too. We have settled into a pretty good routine at home and so far we are faring well on the little bit of sleep we are getting.
For the 4th of July we visited the Mulvey's in Stillwater (Tim's Uncle) where Jonathan got to meet some of his aunts, uncles and cousins. We had a great afternoon and evening complete with Jonathan's first fireworks show (safely viewed from inside away from the smoke and loud popping of the fireworks
).
