Exit Glacier Notes

On our final day in Seward, I had promised Mom a day of relaxing and no set schedule.  Well, we were all up early because of the three hour time difference.  But, we took our time and enjoyed a leisurely breakfast.  Once again, the weather was showing signs of a beautiful sunny day; kind of unusual for mid August in the Kenai Peninsula.  Perfect weather for a hike to Exit Glacier in Kenai Fjord National Park. 

Exit Glacier is one the most accessible glaciers in Alaska and the only part of the park accessible by road.  This hike was one of the things that I had looked forward to.  First, we did the handicap trail so Mom could get a good view of the glacier.  Later, Kay and I hiked the Edge of the Glacier trail which brings you near a wall of blue ice providing a dramatic close up view of Exit Glacier.
