I'm an over achiever when it comes to trip planning. I can research a topic to death and this always worries my mother that things are not going to meet my expectations. When traveling, I just want to get the most bang for my buck (that's the accountant in me). I have a very stressful (especially in this economy) job with a lot of responsibilities, so trip planning is my way of unwinding.....
24 hours before your flight, you can print boarding passes and have the option to change seats. We have found that Continental Airlines opens the exit rows seats at the same time. The exit rows have extra leg room.
Set the timer on my new handy dandy iphone to go off at 2:50 this afternoon, exactly 24 hours. Jumped on line and found one whole exit row (3 seats) open. Well, we each had separate confirmation numbers... I panicked, called Kim and had her in my reservation and I was in the other two. At the same time, Mom called to remind me to check on this. I hung up on her..... I had to run down the hall to give Kim my credit card for a 2nd check bag fee. Long story short, we are now all three on the exit row. Yeah!!!
Kim and I printed boarding passes. When she brought her copies to my office, we laughed for 15 minutes about me panicking and called Mom and Kay to tell them the news. Then, I asked Kim what did I do with my credit card? Kim realized it was still on her desk..... :)
We were just discussing yesterday that all we really need to take was a passport, a drivers license, and a credit card.
7 hours was a very long time on a plane. But, we made it!
In Houston, Mom's knee did set off the buzzer but no problems.
Took over an hour to get our luggage upon arrival in Anchorage and then we had to wait for our rental car. Let's just say, we were very crabby and leave it at that..... :)
