INDIA: Villagers receive Christ and blind man testifies of his healing
Matthew 9:37-38 "The harvest is truly plentiful but the laborers are few. Therefore pray the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest."
From a western perspective, when one visits India the senses are amazed at the unique and wondrous sites, colors, sounds and smells. The mind is curious to understand the cascade of never seen before images. India is a huge country geographically that boasts a population of 1.2 billion people. The majority of them adhere to Hindu traditions which have dominated the culture for centuries.
Christian tradition holds that the gospel was introduced to India by the apostle Thomas in the first century. From his time to the present the church in India continues to advance. There are many committed christians who are preaching the gospel, planting churches, teaching and training new believers, caring for orphans, the elderly and the poor. The church and it's leadership is capable, resourceful and resilient - in some cases giving even their lives for Christ. However in the midst of the successes the fact remains that millions still need to hear the gospel.
The harvest is ripe and in relative terms the workers are few. There are still areas and people groups that have never heard His Name nor have a church.
We are currently in India ministering in numerous bible schools to provide both classroom and hands-on training for evangelism amongst the unreached peoples. We give glory to God for this incredible privilege to proclaim His name and to help empower nationals to go out and do likewise.
Please intercede for the students as they face huge obstacles of financial struggles, loneliness, religious persecution and traditions and more. May God enable us and you by his grace to continue to help them carry out our Lord's command to "preach the gospel to every creature".
