Welcome from the Alpha Chapter!

Welcome to the home of the Alpha Chapter based at Emerson College!  The brothers and sisters are looking forward to an exciting and productive 2009-2010 year and we would love it if you would join us at our events throughout the year. Please see our events and contact page for more information.

Purpose of Zeta Phi Eta

Zeta Phi Eta has a twofold purpose.  First, to be a vital force in the departments in which we work thereby stimulating a greater interest in the communication arts and sciences.  And second, to unite in friendship a group of people with common interests committed to realizing professional goals after graduation.

This commitment involves continuing membership, contributing to local and national projects, and helping to establish professional chapters.

The projects give the membership an opportunity to serve their department, their school, and their community.  The goals stress the importance of building and maintaining a professional philosophy to be used in furthering the status of individuals in the fields of communication arts and sciences.

Zeta Bowl-a-Thon Raises $$$ for the American Cancer Society

The Brothers and Sisters, alums, members of the Zeta Boston professional chapter, and other Emerson students all gathered at Jillian's Boston on April 5 to raise money for the American Cancer Society.  The Bowl-a-Thon is an annual tradition of the Alpha chapter.  The event had a large turnout and took over the entire second floor of bowling lanes at Jillian's Boston near Fenway Park!  Although the scores may not have been high the donations kept rolling in, and door prizes were raffled off end the conclusion of the event.  Keep an eye out next year for the Zeta Bowl-a-Thon!  Thanks to all who came and to Jillian's Boston!

Zeta Welcomes New Members!

Zeta's Spring 2009 Info Session Another Success

Our Spring 2009 Info Session/Pre-Smoker was another big success thanks to all who attended.  If you have never attended one of Zeta's info sessions, be sure to check back at the beginning of next semester to find out about the next one!  The night included plenty of time for socializing with the membership.  Sergeant-at-Arms Rob Eckard was the host for the evening's activities which included some movement games, a music-based game, with plenty of time at the end for a creative arts-and-crafts activity.  Again, thanks to all who attended and showed and interest in Zeta and in Greek Life at Emerson -- we hope to see you all again at future Zeta and Greek events!  See the 'events' page for pictures!

Zeta Phi Eta Sponsors "Visions and Voices" to Promote World AIDS Day

Zeta Phi Eta recently hosted their annual "Visions and Voices" event in conjunction with the Emerson Musical Theatre Society's Emerson Fights Aids Week 2008 to promote World AIDS Day.  It was a night of education, discussion, reflection, and creativity.  A short documentary was shown, followed by a group discussion about the issues and ideas presented in the film.  Following the discussion each person in attendance created a panel for our new Emerson AIDS quilt to be displayed at the EFA Gala at the end of the week and eventually donated to a local charitable AIDs organization.  Our quilt is starting out strong with 30 panels -- hopefully that number will grow even more over the course of EFA week!  See the 'events' page for photos!

Zeta Family Weekend -- Food, family, and fun!

In a new tradition started this year, Zeta members' families came from all over the country this weekend to meet each other for the first time and to learn more about the organization at a Sunday brunch on the waterfront of Boston.  Stories were told, traditions exchanged, and plenty of family photos were taken!  Thanks to all who were able to visit and become a part of our extended family tree!

Zetas Make Strides Against Breast Cancer!

An Emerson College team sponsored by Zeta Phi Eta raised over $1700 for the American Cancer Society's 2008 Walk for Breast Cancer!  Zetas and representatives from several other Emerson organizations made the entire 6 mile trek around the Charles River Esplanade today in just under three hours.  See the 'events' page for photos of the walk!

Info Session A Success!

Our Fall 2008 information session/pre-smoker was a huge success, thanks to all who attended.  The large turnout made the evening a lot of fun as there were so many new faces to meet!  The evening included a short presentation about the organization from President Alli Bizon and a series of ice-breaker games in which everyone had the chance to move around the room and meet other people.  Again, thanks to all who attended and showed interest in Zeta -- we hope to see you all again at future Zeta and Greek events!  Check out the 'Events' page for pictures!
